Roxette - With or without Marie?

I for one am in favor of bringing in a replacement for Marie, whether it is Helena or someone else of Per’s choosing. It’s not like it hasn’t been done successfully before in other bands…Genesis (Phil Collins for Peter Gabriel), Van Halen (Sammy Hager for David Lee Roth), Journey (Steve Augeri for Steve Perry), etc. Per’s still really into making Roxette music and Marie is not. Why not let Per have some fun with an updated version of the band? Would people be more accepting of Vicki Benckert than Helena? Someone with a tie to Roxette?

- Those Bands were SUCCESSFUL when they changed the frontman. They were still young and had BIIIG names. Roxette is “out”; Per is 48; nothing more to achieve; no motivation to try...

Line-up changes during their “Hey-Days” might work if the Band (read: “Band”
not “Duo”) has a strong name and is young and willing to conquer the world.
It won‘t work on the flop-paved road to retirement.

- When did he tell you that? He surely hides it very well making this dated sixties-soft-pop
But maybe EMI forbids him to make up-to-date pop without a female leadsinger...

1. Pretending to know what Per really wants to do while he‘s doing the
opposite is rediculous.
2. Never become manager of an Artist I like.

Why is this urge ,why you are so worried about “now what”?
Are you EMI director? Or one of the eventual replacements??
One of the worst things in such hard for Marie times is to hear that people don’t believe in you and even more- someone is searching for your replacement.

I don’t think of Jonas Isacsson, or Anders Herrlin, or Pelle Alsing until I start talking about the music itself.
I remember when Roxette first started to “make it big” here in Utah. There was a radio station, Power99 (now known as B98.7) and the “Morning Team” of Mick Mackey, Andy Barber, and Shelia Balustrary (don’t know if that’s right). The radio station had bought some tv time, or EMI-USA did and Andy had a stand up cutout of Per and Marie. He started to talk about this hot duo out of Sweden and how he dug their music. Now, whether or not he truly did, I tell you something:
Andy promoted the sh*t outta Roxette. And I remember him saying:
“...Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson... the members of Roxette...” and whatever else was in the promo ad.
If she’s “replaced”, then that’s the day I hang it up.
