Then in October, 1991 this song has been included in B-side a single ” Spending My Time “. In 1993 covers - versions “The Sweet Hello, the Sad Goodbye” for Laura Branigan and Jason Donovan was been realized.

I also remember Per commenting that the song should’ve been on Joyride instead of Physical Fascination! However, I couldn’t disagree more.
abysmo said on July 19, 2007 10:18:
This was the biggest mistake to leave this song away from Joyride album. This is probably their best ballad ever. This should have been 2 nd single from Joyride, if it was, Roxette would had 5th No.1 in States.

For me Roxette has made great ballads, but one of them is above others: TSHTSG is better than others and it should’ve been included on GH albums.
Maybe it should have been in Joyride but definitely not instead of Physical Fascination :) Soul deep maybe..
Bentley said on July 19, 2007 15:03:
And whose performance do you prefer more?? Thomas Anders,
Laura Branigan or Jason Donovan?
Gachy said on July 19, 2007 19:13:
Physical Fascination is the weakest song on “Joyride”, an absolute filler. It’s not a good song to the standards of that album, it’s B-side material.
Then, I agree with Per about this matter: TSHTSG should have been on the album.
CoyRoy said on July 19, 2007 19:19:
If you listen closely to The Sweet Hello, The Sad Goodbye you’ll know just why Roxette left it off the Joyride album - it has a weaker sound than the other songs - it’s NOT “rocky” enough.
BUT it IS one of their all-time greatest songs.
Laura Branigan fucks up the whole song, because she can only sing “Gloria” good - she had one of the ugliest voices in the music industry.
I never heard Jason Donovan’s version, but Thomas’s version sucked - he doesn’t have a strong voice, so he sings the song “dead” and the whole song loses it’s true value.
Well done, Per!! It’s such a great song. (It kinda have the same vibe as It Must Have Been Love).
Gachy said on July 19, 2007 19:26:
Hey, I don’t think Mrs. Branigan had ’one of the ugliest voices in the music industry’. Cool down, dear. I am not that fond of her version of TSHTSG, but she has recorded other good songs, she was not only ’Gloria’. Did you forget about ’Self control’? That’s a 80’s classic.
If you don’t like her music, that’s fine. But don’t say she or her voice was ugly, because that’s only your opinion.
CoyRoy said on July 22, 2007 06:59:
If you want to talk about Laura Branigan, then please point your browser to her website, this website is about ROXETTE.
I have a greatest hits collection of Laura Branigan, and yes, there were some good songs from her, but all the songs she covered just proved that she over-did those and didn’t sang them any way near good.
God bless her soul - I was so shocked when I heard she died - total shock!!
FirstGirlOnTheMoon said on July 22, 2007 07:31:
Personally, I think Laura Branigan does a pretty decent version of TSHTSG. Also, to say she’s got an “ugly” voice is a bit harsh, imo.
Anyway, like everyone here, I prefer the Roxette version. :)

Martin will you please address your concerns directly in an email.
CoyRoy said on July 28, 2007 12:34:
Oh no, Hanrich, you misunderstood me - I wasn’t talking about JUST you, etc - it’s basically ALL the replies I got after making my statements. Do relax, Bro.
It’s just interesting how many of the fans here agree and disagree about certain things. Those who usually agree on one thing, basically have the same posts/replies and those who disagree have the same posts/replies.
That was what I was trying to state.
Heavy rotation.....

So everyone who disagrees with you is “brainwashed”? By who?
purplemedusa said on July 29, 2007 17:05:
... or maybe some of us realize that there’s more music out there BESIDES Roxette... just an idea!
CoyRoy said on July 30, 2007 18:54:
Brainwashed - I don’t know by whom. Maybe the love for Per & Marie? I too am brainwashed by my own narrow-mindedness. I just read the posts of a FEW pages and saw that everyone who agrees on one thing tend to say the same things and the ones who disgree on the same subject, also say the same things. I was NOT attacking you (FirstGirl) or Hanrich - for God’s sakes, you’re my FRIENDS.....
To answer Hanrich - I got passed the “Roxette is the only band in the world who do things right”-stadium in 1999 when I heard their HAND album. I realised that they too can make mistakes.
There are lots of bands/artists out there who do/did some great things in the years. I just think that Laura Branigan did not have a great voice - she screamed a lot (like Marie in the old days) and she tended to kill a song’s spirit. I just feel a great song should be sung the RIGHT way.
Marie’s version of TSH,TSG is GREAT, but maybe (just a thought) someone like Celine Dion or Gwen Stefani could do a better version??
There’s a girl, Chantal Kraviatzuk, with THE most beautiful voice - I would love to hear her do The Sweet Hello.... - it would be bittersweet. She would do a honoust version of M&T&H, not to mention Beautiful Things.
Wicf said on August 3, 2007 06:31:
There aren’t many Roxette songs that are better than TSHTSG... Maybe Listen To Your Heart, Queen Of Rain, but that’s all...
I don’t understand why so many of you think that album songs are supposed to be great and b-sides and outtakes are supposed to be weak. If you don’t include a song on a album, it doesn’t have to mean that this song is terrible, does it?
For example, Entering Your Heart would be ,after MWMLML, the best ballad on Room Service album.
It Hurts is much better than Beautiful Things, I Was So Lucky or It Will Take A Long Long Time.
CoyRoy said on August 3, 2007 18:27:
I don’t want to agree, and I don’t want to disagree either.
But the fact is that the best songs according to the artist are put on the albums. The B-sides you mentioned REALLY aren’t good enough for any album.... The arrangement on “Entering Your Heart”, in my opinion, kills the song - it’s like that ugly song “Happy Together” and “Cooper” - it sounds too much like a demo and the people outside Roxette’s camp will thing, “Hey, isn’t there something better?” “Beautiful Things” is a masterpiece!
It’s a matter of taste, that’s all.
Gachy said on August 3, 2007 19:04:
“Entering Your Heart” deserved to be on the album instead of “Make My Head Go Pop”, which is B-side quality (even if it made on the album). I still wonder why it was included, it’s embarrasing.
It’s ok if you don’t like a certain song, but calling them “ugly” is not the most accurate way to rate them. I really like “Cooper”! “Happy Together” is not their best arrangement, but the lyrics are kinda cute.
coyboyusa said on August 3, 2007 21:33:
make my head go pop and ycpuyaawag are 2 of the songsa that never ever shoud have made albums. Have a nice day has an amazing flow until u hit yccap, and pop ick it’s just well horrible. Entering your heart would have been a huge club song, happy together maybe would have been better with an acoutsic treatment the way better off on her own was done..and cooper! how can u dash one of the best songs they ever recorded...especially yhte closer to go mix
and maybe it’s just just me but roxette songs have seemed to be the only songs noone does justice to covering, they eiter rip all the soul out of it or they try too hard to be ” true to the song” and make it horrible. Laura branigan did that to TSHTSG, the delivery on the song is so dry. DHT did that to listen to your heart, it just soubnds liek someone is reading lyrics off a teleprompter, the only people who can do roxette songs right are roxette
CoyRoy said on August 4, 2007 18:50:
This is SO funny - like in ALL of the previous poles and topics like these.
We can go on and on and on and on and on, but the TRUE fact is that IT’S ALL A MATTER OF TASTE!!!!
I’m laughing my butt off. We will never agree on what song is Roxette’s best/worst, etc. That’s why Per and Marie has provided us with SO much variety in their songs for ALL to enjoy.
There’s pop, rock, there’s “what the hell?”, and there’s just “oh my Gosh!! is this the most beautiful sound or what?”, etc.
Just enjoy!!
Wicf said on August 6, 2007 06:18:
No, no, no, I can’t agree... Per didn’t like 7twenty7 but it was included on HAND. I suppose he was more keen on TCOTH or Little Miss Sorrow, but these two songs didn’t make it on HAND. Some songs aren’t included because they just don’t fit on the abum, bet otherwise they might be great in Per’s or Marie’s opinion... And because they’re a pop band, they have to chose some songs which they know will be successful in charts... but they might not like some of them (example: How Do You Do, The Big L)
Sascha said on July 18, 2007 21:11:
The song wasn’t written for Thomas Anders. It was written for Roxette but they decided not to use it on Joyride. So Per gave it to other artists. Still turned out to be one of Roxette’s finest songs.
