Mazarin - SOAP - EHM

I still hadn’t had the time to leave my comments on the latest Per album: well after listening to it and relistening to it maybe 6 7 times after that I came to realize that EHM is by far in my opinion the least interesting album he recorded.
Not wanting to questions his motivations and inpirations for wanting to make an album like this cause that is something entitled to him only, for a music listener like me this album is like “eating dry rice without sauce”.. and I do really hate eating it without sauce! LOL
It’s rich in terms of intruments that’s a plus ... but too raw for the kind of studio recordings I apreciate mostly. Less polished that Mazarin which sounds a lot more worked on in terms of studio but delievering a very natural vibe. Melodically this album sounded too “old fashioned” which for me is boring in terms of my music taste but also comes to prove something remarkable: that someone like Gessle can re-bring old sounds and styles back to our present and reproduce them completely as if this record was a parallel recording to the Beatles and all the mid 60s and 70s stuff of that era.
Per did what he really loves.... the way he wanted it to sound and sing. No Roxette here, No Mazarin either at least for me, just a lot of SOAP this time around in swedish! I guess that, as a less comercial record, and much more personal it will take its time to appreciate it properly... although i never had problems following Marie’s personal musical style and work with Per since SOAP it has been harder ...
I have to agree with someone’s else opinion here that EHM was so harmonious from one track to the other that sometime i ask myself what are the differences btw songs. They are at least a little too much a like. In that sence Mazarin was better cause it possesed wider diverty in music (from a 70s Kiss-a-like Spegellball to an amazinga haunting december ballad Varm Igen).
I still feel that Per knows how to make good music hocks specially for the choruses but under this way of makig his music almost as a 60s record kinda let me with my stomach empty! Maybe with time I will appreciate what i can’t still feel and see now!

SOAP is like EHM in english but yet I was able to pick some really good pearls being the 3 ones that trully I adore: C’mon and Jo-ana says (for some reason despite the production the melodies were a bit familiar to me like ..ringing bells to old gesslish roxette writing stylet. I was not so impressed with all of the slower tunes and ballads except for the one that stole my heart from the very first second ...”I never got over...” a song whose titles means nothing and yet a wonderful melody and vocal arrengment (helena sounds amazing here) and i loved the magic touch of the synth surrouding the guitars. Still do...
I am hoping to enjoy some of EHM ...

EHM so far is turning out to be very Mazarin to me. In that i first only listened to Tycker om... as it was the only song that i liked, then gradually listened to the rest and started enjoying them all.
With EHM, Om Jag Vetat... is the one that i can’t stop listening to and i’m starting to really like Fru Nordin and Troett. I’m sure the rest will grow on me as they did with Mazarin.
SOAP on the other hand... i just loved start to finish.
