"Music and Lyrics" - the movie, ok?!

did u ever watch to that movie (starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore)?
well, a brief explanation about what it is: hugh grant plays the role of a 80’s has-been pop star, who formed a duo with another guy, called ’Pop’. well, the duo follows the basic script for stupid commercial 80’s bands: silly lyrics, ridiculous videos, not to mention the utterly horrendous coreographies and etc, etc. well,he ends up writing a new song for the pop artist of the moment (a girl that blends christina aguilera, britney and shakira, named cora in the movie [played by beautiful haley bennet: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2247245/ )
but, if u pay attention...well, i can’t help imagine other thing than the director quite based the carachter...in Per!
you know, i think, that in a certain way (a certain way, I said) grant resembles Per. now, consider his carachter’s look in that video (which is very easy to find in youtube. oh, btw: http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=S0A7dtdc-nU&mode=related&search= - damn funny, we got to say )...and the background...and some of hugh’s grimaces...for a rox fan, it’s a matter of doing the math.
then it comes the post-success times life, when grant’s carachter is dealing a participation in a ridiculous 80’s has-been stars boxing show. he dresses basically like per does in most of his appearences lately (suit, band t-shirt or black tone).
not to mention the many references to bands that per likes (even frankie goes to hollywood) by hugh’s carachter.
I’m not sure, but unless that guy (Marc Lawrence, the director) is somehow friend to Per, it looked more like some kind of mockery, disregarding the fact that per is a damn well-respected artist in entire europe.

I’ve been to the movies to see it and I must say I was quite perplexed when I saw the video... So I do agree with you, tiny. And I love Hugh Grant, so a double pleasure for me, ;)

i think it depends how you watch the film. i took the film as fiction and still do, they are so many music artists you could do it with worldwide from that period it time.

ok, now, pay attention to the verses that hugh’s carachter sing and connect them to most of per’s pop tunes lines in the 80’s. man, even the expressions and some words used to rhyme, i mean, the concept is there.
i too think that they could very well base that carachter in so many artists of that time, but, i could tell that not too many had the same, well, ’package’ of gestuals, grimaces and etc that only per did (specially in those stinky old rox clips - god, i love the song, but i can’t stand ’dressed for success’ video...oh dear, why couldn’t them all be like ’you don’t understand me’ or ’she doesn’t live here anymore’, at least?)
i kinda feels like the director thought ’well, nobody truly remembers roxette at all, i mean, few people really do remember of thouse disgusting aspects of their past career, so...no, i won’t be sued or flamed’. the picture is there!
