Not really a Roxette topic, isn’t it.
But I do think that she would be GREAT to have on backing vocals on a next Roxette cd.
Roxette needs WAY more female vocals on their albums.

No, please!!! Don’t say those things. If she can sing with Roxette, then I can do it as well.

I made a mistake too: there was another (and interesting) topic about Helena and her first single and I didn’t see it before opening this. Here it is:

Helena Josefsson Topic just want to join the info about Helena but I don’t want it to be the one and only topic about her.
Write wherever and whatever you want to

Exactly my thoughts.. for me she sings way out of tune. At least I know I am not the only one who thinks like that :)

I’ve never heard Helena singing out of tune... And I think that her last song is quite cool. But I wouldn’t like her singing in Roxette either. She is perfect for SOAP, but I don’t see her making back vocals in Roxette.

Lantartida said on November 26, 2006 19:15:
I don’t see anybody making backing vocals in Roxette ... soon, because I don’t see a new Rox album soon. I’m happy with “20th anniversary new songs” (great news that Marie seem really recovered) but I’m not happy with the pause in SOAP project. SOAP songs were much more better and original than “One wish + Reveal” and I’d have been happier with a SOAP tour compatible with 20th anniversary.
By the way, I don’t try to compair Helena’s and Marie’s voice. They are quite different. Some people should learn to control their irrational fears: Helena will be never the substitute for Marie in Roxette, my friends. Don’t worry about it. Roxette are Per Gessle & Marie Fredriksson. Son of a Plumber are Per Gessle and - so far - Clarence Öfwerman, Christoffer Lundquist, Jens Jansson and Helena Josefsson. And Helena Josefsson is Helena Josefsson, not Marie Fredriksson. Quite easy but sometimes difficult to understand.
Greetings!

I don’t think anybody is neither comparing the two of them, neither fearing Helena could ever replace Marie (not in the best of her dreams!). As for me, I like many female artists, some Swedish, some American, some European, and I simply feel/think that Helena’s vocal qualities are below average, to say the least. But that’s me and my concept of a good voice :) That’s all about it :)
Btw, some people should also think if they really like her or if they like her because Per does ;)
Anyways, world would be boring without people having different tastes :)

Hmmmmmmmmmm, not my case, I have my own personality, you know...
I don’t think it is your case, Judith, but I do think that many people hate Helena just because they see her as Marie’s substitute in some way. I think they are two different singers. I like singers with a powerful voice, like Marie, and I like singers with a softer voice, like Helena. I don’t know too much about their singing qualities (I’m not an expert on that!!!) I know if someone makes me feel something when s/he sings. And that’s the case with both Marie and Helena. Obviously, it happens more often with Marie :D
Helena and Marie are two different singers, and SOAP and Roxette are two different projects. I don’t know why some people find it so difficult to understand.

Lantartida said on November 27, 2006 20:21:
Thank you, Miss Misery. Obviously I agree with you but I thank Judith too for being so sincere.
SOAP and Roxette are two different Gessle’s projects. I like Marie’s voice in Roxette and Helena’s one in SOAP. When I listened to “I have a party in my head” or “Hey Mr. Dj”, Helena’s voice made me feel many emotions. I am a fan of Gessle’s projects, but not a fan of Gessle himself: I mean, I like his projects, his music, but I am not very interested in his life or opinions. So I think I like Helena’s voice itself and not because of Gessle’s taste.
Debora said on November 27, 2006 21:02:
I promised not give my opinon here, but I will, just this time.
I don’t see in Helena a substitute for Marie because they have nothing in common when singing; Helena doesn’t fit in Roxette.
I don’t like her style. I don’t like soft voices, I don’t like people who whisper instead of singing. That’s all.
Lantartida said on November 27, 2006 22:19:
There is no problem in giving your opinion. Here is mine: I like her style. I like “hard” and “soft” voices, actually all the voices that make me feel. I like people who whisper. Sometimes, my girlfriend whispers ... and I like it like that. ;-D
Zargo said on November 28, 2006 01:38:
Since her vocal style is practically opposite to Marie’s, it’s only natural that it doesn’t appeal to too many big fans of the latter.
Personally i think Helena’s voice is an exotic treat, but i wouldn’t want to have it on the menu every day ;)
Jud (moderator) said on November 28, 2006 06:57:
I guess that’s why I don’t like Mariah C at all either.. I hate her whispering way of singing, gets on my nerves.. Give me Melissa Etheridge’s powerful voice instead.. I love voices that transmit feelings, that get inside of me and touch that inside part of me nobody/nothing else does and that can hold up a high (without killing my ears) or low tone for longer than 2 seconds and who don’t sing out of tune 90% of the time ;) So I ended up with my trio: Marie, Melissa and Eva :)

I don’t hate Helena nor love her. For me, she is just another backing vocalist Per used in his solo records. It was Monica Törnell before, then Anne-Lie Rydé (maybe Marianne Flynner too). I don’t think there was so much controversy around them.
But I wouldn’t buy a solo record by her, that’s for sure. I am not crazy about her voice. I don’t like her whipering either. But on the other hand I can’t stand singers like Christina Aguilera, who thinks singing loud means she sings great. I hate all that inflections in her voice, she tries to impress. But I don’t think that is the richest way to employ the voice. It is just annoying.

“Born: 23 March, 1978 in Kalmar. Her full name is Helena Marianne Josefsson. Backing vocals - and after hearing her singing live I should say it was damn brilliant! Amazing voice! She also played tambourine and harmonica. While watching the mentioned live DVD’s documentaries, one can note, that Helena is left-handed. Helena also plays keyboards and sings in Sandy Mouche, which is produced by Christoffer Lundquist. It was him who’s heard Helena’s demos and suggested her singing with Per on his “Mazarin” album.”

Helena is amazing, thanx for the links! Of course she doesn’t sing out of tune, get serious, people. You can say you dont like her voice, but to say she’s singing out of tune is just...unbelievably stupid, sorry. One should just say she has a different way to deliver a song, she can do WHATEVER she wants with her voice, she can sing in SO many manners. She can sing flat and she can sing in waves (is this a good expression? I hope so) and so on and on. And she’s VERY creative. A true artist. If anyone can post some more links about her, reviews, info or anything, I will be very happy.

After a few listenings, I have changed my mind. It always work this way! I know I am not the only one, many people start liking some music after some listenings. Well, that’s why I don’t trust in the love at first sight, hehe. These are the songs I like the most:
Never Never (My Dynamo)
By Your Side
Where Does The Unused Love Go?
Sleepyhead
Big Bad Wolf
Pirate King
The ones I don’t like are:
The Moon Is A Grain Of Sand (too Björkish, and I never was a fan of Björk)
Waterlily Love (way toooooo slow)
Meadow (zzzzzz, same as above)
Ghosts (silly lyrics, and no music at all)
Air-Hostess doesn’t bother me, but is not a fav either. I can live without it.

Can anyone settle an arguement for me? Was she or was she not part of the backing vocals for the band Junior Senior at one point?
’Even if I am in love with you. All this to say, what’s it to you?’

Hej everyone!
I’m so enthusiastic with Dynamo, I can’t stop listening to it ... I already thought Helena was doing an amazing job with PG solo and SOAP, but her own album’s lyrics and music thrilled me and made me become a fan of her.
Anyone insterested in her music please add me, my MSN is under my profile.
Greetings,
Ezequiel.

News by Helena:
- The song “Where does the unused love go?” is now being released to Swedish radio (since 28th May)!!
It contains Helena’s flamenco-teacher Ewa Flycht´s dancing on the instrumental chorus! It sounds like a drum but it is her shoes. Unfortunately there is no budget to make a video to this one. -

Where Does The Unused Love Go? was one the songs I liked immediately when I played the album for the very first time, and it’s still a favourite of mine. But it was not released as a physical single, as it was not listed on Cdon or Ginza :(

According to her website it was released as a single in May...

Two years ago, I began this topic ... “for people who like Helena Josefsson”. I have read many good comments about her vocals in Per Gessle’s last album. IMHO, her voice sounds very well in Party Crasher.
According to her website, she has been working in her second solo album. I wish we could listen to her second solo album soon.
