I’ve never heard Helena singing out of tune... And I think that her last song is quite cool. But I wouldn’t like her singing in Roxette either. She is perfect for SOAP, but I don’t see her making back vocals in Roxette.

I’m happy with “20th anniversary new songs” (great news that Marie seem really recovered) but I’m not happy with the pause in SOAP project. SOAP songs were much more better and original than “One wish + Reveal” and I’d have been happier with a SOAP tour compatible with 20th anniversary.

By the way, I don’t try to compair Helena’s and Marie’s voice. They are quite different. Some people should learn to control their irrational fears: Helena will be never the substitute for Marie in Roxette, my friends. Don’t worry about it. Roxette are Per Gessle & Marie Fredriksson. Son of a Plumber are Per Gessle and - so far - Clarence Öfwerman, Christoffer Lundquist, Jens Jansson and Helena Josefsson. And Helena Josefsson is Helena Josefsson, not Marie Fredriksson. Quite easy but sometimes difficult to understand.

I don’t think anybody is neither comparing the two of them, neither fearing Helena could ever replace Marie (not in the best of her dreams!). As for me, I like many female artists, some Swedish, some American, some European, and I simply feel/think that Helena’s vocal qualities are below average, to say the least. But that’s me and my concept of a good voice :) That’s all about it :)

Btw, some people should also think if they really like her or if they like her because Per does ;)

Anyways, world would be boring without people having different tastes :)

Hmmmmmmmmmm, not my case, I have my own personality, you know...

I don’t think it is your case, Judith, but I do think that many people hate Helena just because they see her as Marie’s substitute in some way. I think they are two different singers. I like singers with a powerful voice, like Marie, and I like singers with a softer voice, like Helena. I don’t know too much about their singing qualities (I’m not an expert on that!!!) I know if someone makes me feel something when s/he sings. And that’s the case with both Marie and Helena. Obviously, it happens more often with Marie :D

Helena and Marie are two different singers, and SOAP and Roxette are two different projects. I don’t know why some people find it so difficult to understand.

SOAP and Roxette are two different Gessle’s projects. I like Marie’s voice in Roxette and Helena’s one in SOAP. When I listened to “I have a party in my head” or “Hey Mr. Dj”, Helena’s voice made me feel many emotions. I am a fan of Gessle’s projects, but not a fan of Gessle himself: I mean, I like his projects, his music, but I am not very interested in his life or opinions. So I think I like Helena’s voice itself and not because of Gessle’s taste.

Since her vocal style is practically opposite to Marie’s, it’s only natural that it doesn’t appeal to too many big fans of the latter.

Personally i think Helena’s voice is an exotic treat, but i wouldn’t want to have it on the menu every day ;)

I guess that’s why I don’t like Mariah C at all either.. I hate her whispering way of singing, gets on my nerves.. Give me Melissa Etheridge’s powerful voice instead.. I love voices that transmit feelings, that get inside of me and touch that inside part of me nobody/nothing else does and that can hold up a high (without killing my ears) or low tone for longer than 2 seconds and who don’t sing out of tune 90% of the time ;) So I ended up with my trio: Marie, Melissa and Eva :)

But I wouldn’t buy a solo record by her, that’s for sure. I am not crazy about her voice. I don’t like her whipering either. But on the other hand I can’t stand singers like Christina Aguilera, who thinks singing loud means she sings great. I hate all that inflections in her voice, she tries to impress. But I don’t think that is the richest way to employ the voice. It is just annoying.

Good, good, good!! I’ve heard that Gessle’s money is behind all this. I am very proud of Gessle that his Elevator Entertainment does something for Helena. I am glad he realized how good she is and that he helped her A GREAT DEAL to make it. Nice to see that her single is out at the same day with “Reveal”... Grin...What a challenge!!

After a few listenings, I have changed my mind. It always work this way! I know I am not the only one, many people start liking some music after some listenings. Well, that’s why I don’t trust in the love at first sight, hehe. These are the songs I like the most:

Never Never (My Dynamo)
By Your Side
Where Does The Unused Love Go?
Sleepyhead
Big Bad Wolf
Pirate King

The ones I don’t like are:

The Moon Is A Grain Of Sand (too Björkish, and I never was a fan of Björk)
Waterlily Love (way toooooo slow)
Meadow (zzzzzz, same as above)
Ghosts (silly lyrics, and no music at all)

Air-Hostess doesn’t bother me, but is not a fav either. I can live without it.

I advise you to listen to the album, even if you don’t like Helena. It doesn’t sound as Björkish as it’s been said :p

I’ve seen that Helena’s official website has been updated with reviews and articles about Dynamo. She had VERY good press. I really enjoyed the interviews and the review she mentioned as being a fine one. There is a little talk about PG as well. Hehe. Not everybody likes him......
And I didn’t know she had so many jobs before. She is very brave and very honest. I appreciate that.

Two years ago, I began this topic ... “for people who like Helena Josefsson”. I have read many good comments about her vocals in Per Gessle’s last album. IMHO, her voice sounds very well in Party Crasher.

According to her website, she has been working in her second solo album. I wish we could listen to her second solo album soon.
