a new Roxette album:

Read it.

As Gessle says somewhere, “One wish” and “Reveal” are just two songs by “SON OF A PLUMBER” with the voice of Marie Fredriksson (instead of Helena Joseffson’s) trying to sound like old-good-rox-times.

Theres is nothing new in it. It is not bad and I don’t want to argue against Roxette, Per, Marie or Son of a Plumber. I like RXT and SOAP.

In future, we could say that in 2006 Marie and Per made and effort and recorded two songs with Gessle’s band in Roxette’s 20th anniversary because they wanted to play together again before continuing with their great careers (with SOAP or with Bolyos). And we’ll also say that they made us remember the best of Rox-times with a compilation, a box, rare demos, some playbacks and interviews on TV.

I think it’s very possible that we’ll listen to Marie in a few SOAP new songs with Per next year. And perhaps Marie will sing some Gessle’s song in her own “solo” album (“solo” means ... with great music-husband Bolyos). But I think we’re not going to see the old real Roxette (a band with live tours and albums).

Times change and we have to accept the reality because we are going to listen to Gessle or / and Fredriksson for many years although the RXT project is over.

What do you think?

Greetings

I think they should go for it now. Go out with a bang and let the younger people hear the music they may have missed. When the songs on the radio back then actually meant something to someone. Music does have its “gems” on the radio now but, back in the 80’s and mid-late 90’s music was at it’s best. i think, again, that Roxette should go out and tour once last time before they don’t have the energy, come out with one more Roxette cd=perferably w/ 14songs or more, and be done w/ it. Let ’em enjoy life peacefully and if they want to come out w/ more solo projects do so. Let’s retire Roxette and give them their glory that they deserve for so many years of great music. Then we could say its time to hang up the trousers and go for a cold one! the end.

@ “L”
That’s so funny. I just replied to your “blog” and said to myself the same thing, and saw that I had a reply on mine and it was you! Remember, great minds think alike!

It would be marvelous to see RXT (live) touring again. But it is very unlikely that Marie could take part in a big tour again. And Marie-solo and SOAP last projects are not made to be played in big places. Who knows in future. I wish you were right: all we want to see RXT again but we must be patients and enjoy the new projects.

PS: Rarely internet connects people’s minds

i think Roxette is not over. No Tour but New short Album.

see sille has confidence in our Roxette still. Come “L”, if we give you a small budge do you think we could change your mind? come on.....

Why not? My thoughts change every second ;-)

I am a Roxette fan and I would like to believe that they are going to come-back soon. But I honestly think it is very unlikely. I repeat again: Who knows?

PS: I didn’t want to mean than RXT is OVER. It just seems over now.

No one can tell for sure Roxette is over and out. I prefer to believe they will carry on.

I never read about Per said: “”One wish” and “Reveal” are just two songs by “SON OF A PLUMBER” with the voice of Marie Fredriksson (instead of Helena Joseffson’s) trying to sound like old-good-rox-times.” where he said that?let me know plz!

i think he just said that the two rox songs have been made and recorded in the same way as soap was. he tried to stress the idea of continuity in his latest work. but i don´t really remember when and where he said it. around here...

He said it in the latest TDR Gessle interview: http://www2.dailyroxette.com/article.php/2210

quote: “The two most recent songs are basically done in the same way as we did Son of a Plumber. Same guys in the studio, same attitude.”

They are also mostly the same musicians as worked with roxette before, so you couldve just have easily said that SOAP worked with Roxette’s band.

I think what Per was getting at was that his way of songwriting has changed, in that he doesnt really record demos anymore, just some rough ideas and then they play around in the studio. This way of working is not specific to SOAP or Roxette, its more to do with the songwriting process than anything. He’s getting a little older and laid back in his approach, thats all.

quote: “The two most recent songs are basically done in the same way as we did Son of a Plumber. Same guys in the studio, same attitude.”

Am I the only one thinking that the 2 Rox songs sound A LOT different than SOAP, though?!!.. They may have used the same equipment, been the same folks recording, but the result is quite not the same IMHO..(I prefer SOAP by far)

It is mentioned in several Roxette-albums:
Roxette is Marie Fredriksson & Per Gessle (or the other way round).
As soon as these 2 perform together, it IS Roxette.

I agree. It sounds quite different and I prefer SOAP by far. I remember what I wrote: “I think we’re not going to see the old real Roxette (a band with live tours and albums).” At least soon, I add now.

So some Gyllene Tider songs are Roxette’s songs because of Marie’s leading or backing vocals. I remember what I wanted to express again: “I think we’re not going to see the old real Roxette (a band with live tours and albums).” At least soon, sadly.

“In future, we could say that in 2006 Marie and Per made and effort and recorded two songs with Gessle’s band in Roxette’s 20th anniversary because they wanted to play together again before continuing with their great careers (with SOAP or with Bolyos). Sincerely mine (sorry, yours ;-) )

Oh how I would love a SOAP number 2!

a new short Rox- Album was a dream!!! without Tour.

Am I the only one that does not care for a new Roxette album....

Well I’d take one if they changed their sound again.. ;-) No more “One Wishs” please, hehe. And a sidenote to the Rox team: Leave the computers and play instruments again, you are musicians!!

The One wish demo made us realize that it could have been a great song. Pitty the “computers” this time. Some Rox-songs sound really well with “computers” but not this.

Ah! An I want a new SOAP album soon. I can’t stop listening to the first one.

I guess that ONE WISH has the same musicians as SOAP just because Per chose them. I don’t think Marie has to worry about that issue now. And I agree that it sounds a lot different to SOAP. So it’s not the same project at all, even though they include the same musicians. I always thought that Gessle knew very well how to distinguish his differnt projects.

When I opened this topic, I just wanted to calm the fans that thought about the unreal proximity of a new “full-Roxette” album (http://www2.dailyroxette.com/smalltalk/thread.php/17652) or even a new Roxette Live Tour (http://www2.dailyroxette.com/smalltalk/thread.php/17653).

This year, Per Gessle wanted to continue with the SOAP project and he thought there where not many chances for Roxette to come-back.

Things changed and he and his SOAP band finally recorded two songs with Mary recovering the Roxette sound in order to celebrate the 20th anniversary.

No more explanation needed, as far as I am concerned. ;-)

Who is Mary? :p

You talk about “his SOAP band” as if Per had his own E Street Band. And I don’t think this is the case. I still think that SOAP and Roxette are two very differenciated projects which sound completely different.

Yes, I think Gesle has got a “SOAP Band” as far as some musicians work with Per wherever he goes (Roxette, solo-albums, SOAP) and they don’t usually work with MARIE Fredriksson (only when Per is also there). And OBVIOUSLY YES: Roxette and SOAP are different projects, did I say a different thing? ;) I think I need a hot “soap” soon ;-D

I hope no more “SOAP” is on the way. One album was more than enough for me. And Roxette’s sound was always plenty of computers (read synthesizers), so I don’t know why people just want “real instruments” right now. They used loads of synths on every album, from “Pearls” to “Room Service”, you should be used already, LOL

Ey, Room_Service, did you hear many sythesizers in Crash! Boom! Bang!?
I think people want real instruments because the most famous Rox sound is full of them.
I think we already had this discussion in the international forum, did we? :)
