Gold in Denmark

Room service has reached Gold status in Denmark!
And Milk and toast and honey charted on #49 in Brasil’s Hot100 songs of the year!

wow, how are they doing in Dubai???!!!

haha...yeah, well....probably super!!!!

RS is considered Roxette’s biggest flop, but still it reached Gold Status in so many countries. So I think, it can notbe called a flop at all.

Just consider the following:
HAND was called a Huge Flop, after having sold just 3.5 Million copies.
Mel C has sold more than 3 Million copies of her first Album and it was called an amazing and huige success!
So how come then, that Roxette’s Album, with little more sales is called a Flop?

For a group that has sold more than 10 million albums with Joyride, more than 8 million with Look Sharp etc and has had a success all over the world, it is a flop. HAND and RS did quite well mostly in Europe. What about the US, Australia, South America? My personal opinion, though, is that they are still quite popular. They are in the music bussiness for many many years!

Yes Nelina, but when Mel C was part of Spice Girls they sold 28 Million Copies of their first Album etc... so how can they say that she has got so much success beiong solo? Okay, she is much more successful than the other solo spice girls... but she isn’t huge, is she?

That is correct. But being in a group and then going solo it is quite different, than keep releasing album under the label roxette! Roxette have sold millions together, Mel C has sold 3 million alone! EMI, probably expected roxette to sell at least 5 millions copies of each album. I don’t believe that HAND was a flop. But RS certainly was! It only sold 1,6 million copies.

Were the heck did you digg for this old topic? ;-)

I would call neither album a real flop, it naturally depends on the expectations. And didn’t we learn that RS sold 2 or 2,5 million up to date? That 1,6 number is from late 2001.

This 1.6 M figure refers to Have A Nice Day.
It hasn’t been shown anywhere near Room Service.

No, it was for RS! Maybe they do a press release with every album passing 1,6 m... ;-) It’s hard to find the original source though, but it’s also mentioned in the disco-book.

OMG I just realised this topic is from 2001! I though myself “just NOW RS reached gold in 2003?!” ha ha

Don´t you think if album sells 1 million it´s not a flop?

In the book The Look for Roxette it says that RS sold 1,6 million albums and HAND more than 3 million!

Isn’t it nice to dig out old threads every once in a while? ;-) Look how much more comments have been added to it now! lol
