I know they are a few different version of this song out and about, im sure its been answered before , but what is the LTYH version from the promo video ? the one with marie singing ever so slightly the ooooo’s at the begining when the piano is playing ? lol hope people understand.
rox-kuryliw said on October 23, 2006 13:57:
not sure i always thought us mix & Swedish single edit mix were the same :-S
tevensso (moderator) said on October 23, 2006 14:18:
Swedish LP version (loooong strings at the end)
Swedish single version (no strings at the end)
Swedish orchestral version (promo) (ONLY strings in second half of the song)
US version - the one on the video
US AC promo version - saxophone solo
Then there are a couple of different US mixes but they are all the same but different lengths.
Did I miss any?

7” edit which is 4:06, at least it is in SMT UK single...
LittleSpooky said on October 23, 2006 15:08:
Don’t forget the one on Tourism that sounds country-western. Or is that another song I’m thinking of?
thomasc said on October 23, 2006 15:49:
Ooo does anyone have the version from the SMT single which is just over 4mins long - I’ve never heard that one OR the sax version.
WOuld love to hear them!!
Thanks,

The 4:06 7” Edit just isn’t a fade out. It’s actually the same until 3:41 when it’s cut and then fades way too fast, sounding too chopped. If it had faded slower to perhaps a length of 4:20 it might have worked better.
While we are on this topic, was this 7” Edit available previously to the “Spending My Time” single? I don’t seem to remember it being on any previous releases and wonder if it was released for the first time on this single.
Thomas, if you want to hear the 7” Edit, just e-mail me:

As I know LTYH (7” Edit) was released first time on UK LTYH/Dangerous 7” promo in 1990.
And I think Thomas wrote about main mixes, all others are just fade/cut editions.

Thomas IS a star:
US AC promo version - saxophone solo
THIS is the version the local radio station plays! No second repeat on the last chorus and sax instead of guitar solo. It’s a version I’ve only heard on this station, that I can remember.

I actually find the Amerincan version particullary more impressive than its original. Though the strings secction towards the end of the album version are a gorgeous set ... really beatiful to listen.
In fact the American version remains the most airplayed version here in Portugal. Don’t ask me why? LOL
rox-kuryliw said on October 24, 2006 16:29:
where can any be obtained! ! the single’s cost more than an album now lol .
TheRain1981 said on October 24, 2006 22:27:
I used to have a low quality mp3 of the AC Version (sax version) years ago but have now lost it. I would also love to be able to have a good quality mp3 of this.
AbominableSnowman said on October 25, 2006 00:09:
The orchestral version is very nice, too bad the mp3s available are bad transfers from old vinyl discs.
Rox_Nox2003 said on October 25, 2006 05:30:
I don’t bother with quality details really ... otherwise I would sound like a rich lady wanting all the forks and spoons on the right place at the dinner table LOL ... My mp3 files might not be top sharp sound but they’re good enogh for me to enjoy and the rest is history.

I wouldn’t mind listening to the sax version ’cos I didn’t even know it existed! Could anyone upload it somewhere?

There are 3 versions of LTYH on the US Promo CD Single DPRO 04417, but all versions have been already mentioned here before.
If you look at the picture there are the following titles (for the US market):
REMIX
REMIX - SHORT VERSION
ALBUM VERSION
but the versions are well known:
REMIX = U.S. REMIX (incl. oohhh at the beginning)
REMIX - short version = U.S. REMIX - short version (incl. oohhh at the beginning)
ALBUM VERSION = Swedish album version (with long strings at the end)

I think it would have been great if they put LTYH (Orchestral version) or (AC Mix) into the RoxBox, or one of my favourites, the acoustic version of HDYD:

the only place I’ve seen the AC mix on hard copy is on a US promo cd (the silver disc..not red). I was gonna attempt to put it up for download, but it apears someone beat me to it heh heh. I have also heard it on US radio.

The AC version...was it really wrong of me to burst out laughing when the sax kicked in? It just sounded, oh how to describe it...squawky?
roxlad said on October 29, 2006 20:18:
My favourite version remains the album version but it was nice to give it a listen.
whateveriam said on October 29, 2006 20:57:
Agreed...but now my mystery has been solved about my 4.06 version!!! Thanks folks.
