Hello all. My box is still ’ready for delivery’ after 4 days and I have some burning questions ! PLease anyone who could answer them !
1. 7twenty7 (demo)
2. Love Spins (demo)
3. New World (demo)
4. All I Ever Wanted (demo)
5. Bla Bla ... (demo)
6. Better Off On Her Own (demo)
7. Help
8. Always Breaking My Heart (demo)
9. Cry (demo)
ANy differences to the previously released or bootleg versions. SOmeone claimed that Bla Bla and Better Off ARE actually slightly different.
And what about One Wish and Reveal - are they longer slightly (3:30 and 4:00 as opposed to the hits! version 3:03 and 3:43) ??
And what is the DVD like? Anything extra besides videos and mtv unplugged?
Thanx to anyone that can answer these questions. I’m dying !!!! CDON ship my poxy box !!!

The Demos are all different from the finished tracks. I’m not sure whether the 7twenty7 demo is different from the one on the Stars single - it might be, I haven’t looked into it - but the demos for All I Ever Wanted and Love Spins are different than the ones in circulation - sounds like they’ve recorded some new drum sounds and added on top of the old demos. The Demo for New World is similar to one version I had, but some mp3’s in circulation fades in over the intro, and this one doesn’t.

How’s the sound quality of the CDs? Has all the material been remastered? (Or did EMI go the cheap way again and transfer from the old CDs?)
starlover83 said on October 19, 2006 22:33:
Checked 7Twenty7 (Demo) and Always Breaking My Heart (Demo). They are both exactly the same as the previously released versions.
But I noticed that New World is slightly shorter on the box (3:38, misprinted as 4:38) , compared to the “bootleg version” (3:58). Also, on the box version, I think I hear an additional voice track when Marie goes “yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah” near the end.
Edit: There is a tiny difference in the Cry demo as well. On the bootleg Marie sings “hey” at 0:13, this is not on the box version.

TheRain > Some of the material has deffinitely been remastered - “The Look” songs have very different wave-files, showing extensive sound changing. Also small changes on Joyride files. However, later tracks seem to be more or less the same in terms of sound, even though minor changes seem to have been applied as well as volume leveling. One thing is certain: The did not do proper remastering on Tourism songs, since Heart Shaped Sea fades in over the intro instead of having the full intro without applause (as would be possible with a proper remastering).

...and you can find The Heart Shaped Sea without the applause on the Almost Unreal single. Strange they didn’t use that.
alcibiades said on October 21, 2006 09:17:
No, because the edition on the Almost Unreal single has no intro at all. This one has some of the intro - it just fades in after the applause has ended. I still think this version is better than the one on the AU single.

Doesn’t sound as polished as it should. I prefer the version of the single. It has a proper start, at least.
alcibiades said on October 21, 2006 10:47:
It does sound pretty sloppy yes. Anybody could have done that fade-in job, and I had hoped they had digged out the old masters to give the proper organ intro without crowd noices.
TheRain1981 said on October 21, 2006 17:33:
Thanks for the info on the mastering. Odd that the mastering engineer (I’ll assume it’s George Marino?) wasn’t given the original master tape of “The Heart Shaped Sea” to start it with the intro without the crowd. It would have sounded so much better. Oh well, that’s typical EMI.
So where exactly did “The Heart Shaped Sea” start on the ’Almost Unreal’ single? At the first verse?
I suppose I’ll dig in and get the box anyway. Amazon.com and cduniverse.com (among other sites) have an October 24 release date for the box, so I’ve been somewhat been putting it on hold, comparing prices and such. I’ll probably order it today.
alcibiades said on October 21, 2006 19:17:
The Almost Unreal version started at the first Guitar accords - so they simply cut away the organ intro completely.
TheRain1981 said on October 22, 2006 22:57:
Thanks to the Internet I have now heard all of these recordings. The remastering is very solid throughout. These tracks, notably the earlier ones, shine much brighter on this release! “Sleeping Single” was the track that I was most curious in hearing. It has always sounded flat on the ’Look Sharp!’ CD, and I’ve always imagined more potential in the sound. It finally has warmth, depth, and clarity! “The Heart Shaped Sea” fade-in wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. It’s fine. It’s also nice hearing “Help!” in a clear audio quality! Listening through these tracks brings back so many memories. There’s some nice surprises along the way as well even if I’m not that fond of the tracklisting. I’m ordering the box right now from cduniverse.com.

How is the demo for “Staring at the Ground”?
Does Marie sing on it?
TheRain1981 said on October 23, 2006 03:02:
No. “Staring At The Ground” is only Per, and it’s longer than the album version.
Roxrider_USA said on October 23, 2006 03:07:
Marie doesn’t sing in it. The demo is pretty upbeat. Nice sound to it.
Love Spins is much more modern and sounds way better.
Bla bla bla demo, is way better tha nthe original version in my opinion. I loved the modern sound it has.
Better Off On Her Own is a little bit differet, but the sound quality is much better.
Take care!

Love Spins, All I Ever Wanted, Bla Bla..., Better Off On Her Own are different for sure. I noticed that the first time I heard them. The rest of the songs you listed may also be (slightly) different, I haven’t listened that closely to them yet.
One Wish is 3:03 and Reveal is 3:43, so nothing different there.
