So lets talk about this era.. seen as it is now the celebration of roxettes 20th an this is where it all began
When was the first time you all actually heard this album? well for me it was in 1996 i got a recordin of it on tape.. i listened to it non stop!! i remeber knowin this album existed and was desperate to get it.. but back then i didnt have much access to the net.. an music was not so easy to get back then..
Its to bad the general public probly never heard this album... maries voice was just perfect on this album
and what about the song pearls of passion, it has to be one of the most catchy roxette songs ever!! it defintly could of been a hit!!

About the song pearls of passion, I like it a lot. The whole album is great. I prefer it to HAND and RS.

I was trying to get it for a while when i first heard about it in 95? And finally got a copy of the re-release in 97 thru the fanclub.
I like this album, some really nice songs on there, Surrender, Secrets that she keeps & Pearls of Passion.
Paul whats not so great about So far away? i love that version :-)

I don’t know really, just not keen. Not really keen on the whole arrangement of the song, and the high note in the chorus is a little bit too much. Should’ve been kept for the last chorus. I’m not even that keen on the Tourism version either.

I think, it was in 1998 when I bought the re-release of Pearls Of Passion. My fav songs are Soul Deep, Secrets That She Keeps, Surrender, Voices, Like Lovers Do, Pearls Of Passion and Turn To Me. And yes, I prefer Tourism version of So Far Away to Pearls Of Passion’s.

heard it first when rereleased. i really like some tracks(surrender, call of the wild, from one heart to another:best vocal of per and marie together!, pearls of passion), but some tracks i really do not like: joy of a toy, like lovers do, soul deep. and so far away is a nice song wtih a twotime bad production. imagine it in a sound like ltyh. could have been a massive hit! but on pop it is a bit to slow and with a weak synthi arrangement, and on tourism it is a little bit boring - but with beautiful voice from marie.
so, pop is not my fav album, but it is not their worst - their worst is definitly rs!

Oh, we’re talking about my favorite album here. Nice :) The first time I heard it was in 91 or 92 (can’t remember), when I found a bootleg cassette. I’m still hoping I’ll buy an original CD one day... Surrender is my favorite Roxette song ever and POP is my fav album, together with LS. I also love Voices and Call Of The Wild sooo much. And I Call Your Name and Neverending Love... LOL I love all the songs from POP!

OT: @denny hi!!! I got your e-mail and will reply soon!
As for POP, for me it was 1991 when a friend recorded it for me on tape. Her tape recorder was running a little faster than normal so when I played it back on mine the pitch wasn’t right (slower), but I was happy all the same ’cos I had been searching for that album since 1989 when I discovered Roxette and a misterious first album...

I got a copy on CD just before it was deleted (i think back in 1991 or so). I’m not too keen on it compared to the other Rox albums, but there are some great songs on there. I love ’Like lovers do’ and ’so far away’. I also used to love ’From one heart to another’ but gone off that one a bit now. ’Secrets that she keeps’ is another gem

Last year...finally cracked and bought it on Amazon for something stupid like £4.00...
Man I love this album! I like the fact that it still sounds pretty modern, even now (OK, NOT counting that panpipe thing on COTW...)

I listen to it more than C!B!B! thats for sure! No offence to it, but I really have to be in the mood to listen to it...

I listened to it for the first time in 1995 when I bought it (I’ve got it twice, the first edition and the new one from 1997).
It’s not my favourite album but there are some really good songs on it like Surrender, From One Heart To Another or So Far Away (I like this version much more than the Tourism’s one)

Got it from a pen pal in 92, then bought the CD when it was remastered (or it was a gift...)

around 1991
The pirate audio tape which include 2 of GT-Heartland cafe .
Even the pirate makes mistakes :-))
I still like it.

LOL Emil, later on I found that pirate cassette (all our cassettes were coming from Bulgaria haha) but with 4 songs from GT and I got totally confused because of the other female vocals in those songs... :) Until 2000 or something, when I got on the net first time, I had no idea about GT or Heartland Caffe.

I think it was late 1995 when I first heard this album. Some kind person had copied it onto a tape for me. I loved it. I was always confused when I got Look Sharp! and it said their new album in the notes rather than the first album. Not having the net back then, I didn’t actually have it confirmed until DBU had it in.
I liked it, but it’s far from their best work. And I think Marie is a little bit too high in some of the songs (Like Lovers Do and Pearls of Passion) and So Far Away is not too great really. But I love Secrets That She Keeps and Surrender
