It is good! A shame it didn’t make it on a Darren Hayes CD!!! Just kidding, or am I? :P
But yeah, I agree Carlos!
Take it easy!

It’s so interesing how the opinions differ drastically from one person to another.
I guess it has to do with things we get exposed to, life experiences and personality make up.
Thanks for the comments, guy! :-)
@IV_ROX: I just really like it!
Take care!

I agree with Neil. Per should stop singing stuff like that..
Santi said on September 11, 2006 21:27:
@ Neil & Kiwein: I don’t think it’s fair to critisize demos like that.

Carlos! Thanks you for this thread! If it wasn’t for this thread I won’t find ILHYLM. Someone sent me this Anyone demo today, and when I first hear, I don’t finish it because I already hear it before, but reading this thread made me want to hear the demo again and this time until the end, and I was so surprised to find out ILHYLM. I honestly don’t really like when Per sing ballad, but this one really fits his voice really well. ILHYLM is a great and very romantic song!!!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH! So, thanks again! and also thanks to someone that send me this song :)

I love that demo!!!!
I can’t believe they didn’t make a song out of the second part of the demo!!!!!!!!!
DEFAULT_GREEN said on September 12, 2006 05:52:
@IV_ROX it is kinda Darren Hayes isn’t it?!?!?
Well I love the song, it sounds very good.
OW and Reveal:
Lately I just feel they are not spending enough time on the actual recording of the vocals, diction of words is not right, accent comes through changing the sound of the words....stuff like that
Kiwein1 said on September 12, 2006 05:55:
@Santi: I wouldn’t even like it in something like a “final version”. It’s an awful song sung by a man with an awful voice (in this case). I heard it only once and had to stop the track even before it was finished itself.
Besides that I really cannot stand the lyrics. Whoa..
skink05 said on September 12, 2006 06:04:
Any1 who ever loved close to this knows what I’m saying
Any1 who wants a dream to come true knows how I’m feeling
All I can think of is you and me doing the things I wanna do
All I imagine is heaven on earth I know its you
Any1 who ever kissed in the rain knows the whole meaning
Any1 who ever stood in the light needs no explaining
Spending my days in a haze of cheap vine and some food to go
Walking alone trough the afternoon traffic, I miss u so
I love how your eyes close
Whenever you kiss me
And when I’m away from you
I love how you miss me
I love the way you always treat me tenderly
But darling most of all
I love how you love me
I love how your heart beats
Whenever I hold you
I love how you think of me
Without being told to
I love the way your touch is always heavenly
But darling, most of all
I love how you love me
I love the way you always treat me tenderly
But darling, most of all
I love how you love me
I love you how you hug me
I love how you squeeze me, tease me, please me
I love how you love me...

the part of ILHYLM is just amazing! Per is sooooo great singing this ballad.. and, yes, it makes me cry like a little girl...
pwbbounce (moderator) said on September 12, 2006 07:42:
Normally when Per tries to sing emo ballads it sounds a little funny with his shaky voice. There are exceptions (ITYNTTGH & LDLH being just two), but the I love when part in this song as cool. The words are pretty nice, and aren’t stupid or silly at all. And he sings it pretty well.
And @ Santi, Neil and Kiwen are entitled to their own opinion, be it demo or not. :-p
imazombieinthem... said on September 12, 2006 08:28:
I got goosebumps the first time I heard it too. No Rox tracks ever do that. It’s an amazing, stunning song.
I dont understand what it is exactly though? Is this this real orginal demo, then they cut out the ILHYLM parts? Or some hybrid thing after the Anyone demo was done?
fabi_salisbury said on September 12, 2006 10:20:
I actually tried to listen to it a couple of times more and i couldn’t help myself laughing at the “i love how you squeeze me, tease me, please me!” bit, hahahahahahahaha don’t ask me why!
darkhamster said on September 12, 2006 12:01:
Could have been one of their greatest ballads, if properly recorded and released...
skink05 said on September 12, 2006 12:25:
Agree..the song could be huge:) Imagine if the record it again, with Per singing ofc:) Gosh would be awsome:) The lyrics are so great, so beautiful:)
Santi said on September 12, 2006 12:26:
@Pwbounce & Kiwein: I don’t say that people can not critisize it, but you shouldn’t lose sight of what a demo is, and what the important aspects of a demo are. And I think in this forum people tend to misunderstand demos all too often.
A demo is a draft of a song, not a complete song. And it’s not a musical production. At least not a professional one. There are thus aspects of it that you should take care when critisizing it. It’s meant to be a trial for the melody, the rhythm, the harmony and some small arrangement, and the lyrics. But not of the sound quality nor of the quality of the instruments.
For this, I think it is fair to critisize things like what the demo intends to show, but highly unfair to critisize aspects of sound quality
I don’t like the song either, never did, but from that to critisize the voice of Per on the demo, there’s quite a leap...
Roxrider_USA said on September 12, 2006 16:37:
@imazombieinthemoonlight: It would be really nice to know the history of this song so we could know how it ended up being just Anyone as the final version.
Take care!
Carlos E., New York.
Kiwein1 said on September 12, 2006 16:47:
Santi: Yeah, you’re right. But I didn’t critisize the sound of the demo. I really dislike Per’s voice in ballads as in Vulnerable. I don’t think he would sing ILHYLM better in another or final version (for MY ears).
Roxrider_USA said on September 12, 2006 17:04:
@Kiwein1: Just like you did by adding “(for my ears)”, other people should do the same.
People shouldn’t assume things for others. We all have different tastes and opinions. Therefore, good for you for adding that to your sentence.
Take care!
Carlos E., New York.
ncurran said on September 12, 2006 17:54:
Santi, I dont agree....as soon as Per decided to release this into the public domain, he is open to the criticism, demo or not. It is being released with the Rox Box which he said himself he wanted to be a collection of their highest quality recordings which is the reason he gave for the disappointing tracklist. Anyone is a great song, but in my opinion Per’s voice kills the track. It was obviously written for Marie, and I wish this particular demo had remained in the vaults. Of course that is just my opinion and I am glad that some of you are getting enjoyment out of it.
verano said on September 12, 2006 18:06:
In MY opinion, Anyone sounds a lot better with Per’s lead vocal than Marie’s. I think Per’s deep voice suites this beautiful, dark melody better. He gives it a stunning atmosphere and sound which the released track doesn’t. Not because Marie’s voice doesn’t fit — more because the released version is slicker and, in my ears, over produced.
Notice the backing vocals in the Anyone demo (the one from the single in 1999).
Chorus: “Anyone who felt like I do” –> ahhahhaaaahh.
Beautiful.
The mystic version with I love how you love me is also a gem. Beautiful in all its simplicity. I love this demo. Love it :)
Roxryder-V2002 said on September 12, 2006 20:04:
Do we all know it is a COVER!?
My mum was huming the melody yesterday and told me it was some classic so i checked yahoo and found the truth...

So how can this be a demo? Or even an unreleased song?
and how can Anyone be together in the same, song?
Interesing!
Anyway, the song is really beautiful!
Take care!

Max-Tob said on September 12, 2006 20:10:
I think I have the song. Must check. The title clicked in my mind too, but didn’t quite know what do make of it.
However, I didn’t listen to Per’s version. Not yet.
But “Anyone”’s demo, I mean the old one, was quite nice.
imazombieinthem... said on September 13, 2006 08:35:
I dont think Roxette have ever released a cover on any albums!? Makes sense now why they didn’t make the brilliant ILHYLM part into a song :)
Max-Tob said on September 13, 2006 08:44:
Per will never write lyrics as such! He’d feel embarrassed. haha
RobS said on September 13, 2006 11:22:
It’s a cover?? that’s odd. Would be interesting to know the story behind it, and why it’s mixed with Anyone.
BTW i haven’t heard it yet, just going by what i’m reading.
coyboyusa said on September 13, 2006 17:13:
why are you people so psyched about this mess? it has the same lyrical awkwardness as the milk n toast demo...if that had stayed in anyone it woudl have been a bigger flop than it was....it sounds liek a love letter to pers wife......its BAD

I knew it’s cover when I first heard it. Few years ago I heard this song sang by a girl band from Australia (don’t remember the name, but the band has three members), I think they might cover that song as well.
