A weird thing, or rather a few, about 'The RoxBox'
RobS said on September 8, 2006 06:43:
“looking for the full tapes”
So what if they can’t find them? Would we get the MTV version?
And why would EMI be flabbergasted at them not showing the full show? that would be the first time EMI seem to really care about anything Roxette related.
The mysteries keep on coming...
**crosses fingers**

I think you’re reaching for the last straw. Which is in a way understandable. But there is no RoxBox conspiracy or tracklist hoax. Welcome to the real world! ;-)
n-Somnia said on September 5, 2006 07:06:
The fact that the MTV Unplugged tracklist remains “TBA” is a bit weird too.
marcusvandeursen said on September 5, 2006 07:42:
you’re prob right
@purple; you’ve got mail by the way :o)
gyllene_tjej said on September 5, 2006 08:36:
if, after all that’s been going on here we’ll get the Rox box at all;) ;)

Could mean something or simply nothing...
Who knows? ;-)
But I am glad about everyone expressing his/her thoughts without sounding either nasty or “adoring (a) god”.
Santi said on September 5, 2006 10:11:
The box is by now anounced at http://www.roxette.se/ with the tracklist that some of us don’t like.
I guess that should close this discussion. Sorry, no hoax. better luck next time.
Thanks to Tider12 for the info:

I think that the TBA of the MTV Unplugged is just because it is going to be “extended”. If the show on tv was 14 songs long, this is going to be 15 (there are 15 free slots on the DVD numbering. So probably they’re deciding which of the rest of songs they are going to include, because it will be “extended” but only by one song.
When was going to be released the Box? Because it could be that if the box is going to be released later, they don’t have the artwork ready yet.

A thought-
the spare space might be the menu slot, or the MTV Unplugged title sequence?
Sascha said on September 5, 2006 10:29:
Same date as GH. Where’s the RoxBox advertised at roxette.se? I only see it at the discography which is updated by Tevensso and Judith...
Santi said on September 5, 2006 10:46:
I didn’t say advertised. I mean that it’s in an official page (not a fan newspaper like this). I guess that should make it believable enough.
It doesn’t really matter who updated it, roxette.se is an official site, right?
Sascha said on September 5, 2006 11:04:
Yeah, but that doesn’t mean that all the updates have been proofed by Roxette/EMI.
chrisjankunas said on September 5, 2006 11:07:
I don’t like the blurry picture of the “Roxette hits” album - they should wait to get a proper one really.
tavo said on September 6, 2006 16:52:
i hope this silence means something. maybe a change in the tracklisting, maybe they´re removing something and adding other tracks (like coy remixes, maybe? jajaja)
ncurran said on September 6, 2006 18:29:
To be honest, i think the whole 20th anniversary project is a completely unorganised shambles. Hopefully I’ll be proved wrong
davidc4 said on September 6, 2006 18:33:
at least theyve done something for the 20th......it could have been a boring autum without it.....and a hard winters day....now it will be like a bright june afternoon that will never go dark.....and we can spend our time listening to the sound of crashing guitars or fireworks
ncurran said on September 6, 2006 19:08:
I’m happy they are doing something, but it just seems rather ’messy’. I’m not going to go into the whole Rox Box fiasco again...ive made my feelings quite clear on that. Its just that they have (the awful) new artwork for ’One Wish’ which doesnt tie in at all with the old artwork for the GH. Then they have a website (roxette.se) which still has the Ballad hits artwork, with the latest news being written on soap.com.
You’d think that there would be some kind of theme for the whole project that would tie in through the single and album covers and the official website. It just all looks a little unprofessional.
I’ll be very happy to get the new songs, but I’m a little unhappy with how the whole project has been handled so far. I just hope they know what they are doing.
coyboyusa said on September 6, 2006 19:59:
well noiw that I’ve calmed down about the whole thing I can reassess it. The box was a rush job and lest we forget marie almost died, the future looked about as bad as can be for any future releases, so 2 new songs is in many ways a gift. Lest we forget stuff that per has thrown away on one album has resurfaced in amazing form on another....lets see, tcoth was trashed off of HAND only to become a hit off RS, sdlha was trashed off cbb to be an amzing song on the hits, so maybe just maybe per wants to mine all the secret tracks and demos for a few more albums of hits down the road...which noow that i think of it i’d want more than for them to end on an abysmal boxed set....so I’ll start my roxette cheerleading and save my opinion of the box until i am physically holding it and playing it for my mom watching her get all nostalgic and surprised by the stuff i know she definately hasn’t heard :)
roxettevsoasis said on September 6, 2006 20:22:
Rather stupid question on my part, but does a COY remix even exist? (by Shooting Star?)/ I was able to get my local video/dance club I go to on Fridays and some Saturdays to play COY. Noone left the dance floor, the dj nicely blended the song w/ Kelly Clarkson’s “Since you’ve been gone...” I thought it was so cool to hear it on their sound system, especially a clubs.

I think it’s obvious which 15 tracks of the Unplugged-show will be included - the 15 songs that were already shown on MTV (not sure about the actual order, though):
1. The Look
2. Dangerous
3. Watercolours in the rain
4. Hotblooded
5. I never loved a man (the way I love you)
6. Cry
7. It must have been love
8. Fingertips
9. Queen of rain
10. Heart of gold
11. Church of your heart
12. Listen to your heart
13. Here comes the weekend
14. Joyride
15. So you wanna be a rock’n’roll star
They just weren’t all shown in a row. If I remember correctly ’Cry’ and ’Watercolours in the rain’ were the outtakes, but they televised them separately in between other Rox-video-clips.
n-Somnia said on September 7, 2006 01:26:
The TV special we had here in NZ for Unplugged never showed “Watercolours in the Rain”, “Cry”, and not even “Dangerous” was shown (which is why I’m so glad to have the Rarities album).
The playlist that was shown here:
1. The Look
2. Queen of Rain
Marie says a few words in Swedish, before changing back to English.
3. Hotblooded
Interview: Marie talks about Aretha “Queen of Soul” Franklin (Per makes a “Queen of Rain” joke)
4. I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)
5. It Must Have Been Love
6. Fingertips
Interview: Per says a few words
7. Heart of Gold
8. Church of Your Heart
9. Listen to Your Heart
Interview: Per and Marie talk about the recording of the next song on the Tourism album
10. Here Comes the Weekend
11. Joyride
12. So You Wanna Be a Rock ’n’ Roll Star

@n-somnia
When was MTV unplugged shown on NZ TV?????????
How could I have missed it :(
n-Somnia said on September 7, 2006 06:36:
From memory, it would’ve been around 1995/96. They showed it on HBO on Sky (probably how you missed it?).
fridapeeples said on September 8, 2006 01:31:
@n-Somnia re: MTV Unplugged
the TBA may have something to do with getting the rights to release one or more of the cover songs that they performed. Unless the original contract allowed for a commercial release (as opposed to allowing for a certain number of television broadcasts only), it is possible that they may need to secure the rights again.
of course this is just pure speculation :-)
tevensso (moderator) said on September 8, 2006 06:04:
That’s the MTV version, the SVT version features two more songs.
I hear that EMI didn’t realize that the show aired on TV wasn’t the FULL show, and when told they were flabbergasted. Now they’re apparently looking for the full tapes... Keep your fingers crossed.
Lars-Erik_Olson (moderator) said on September 8, 2006 07:31:
No, I would think the SVT version (should they have found even more). That much seems clear.

Talking about the 20th anniversary, I think the following things are obvious:
- everyone (from the Roxette team) has known something ought to be done about this date, but given Marie’s situation nobody knew what exactly COULD be physically done and what the future of the band would look like, which led to having no concept for it;
- so now we are getting bits and pieces that could be manufactured/compiled/recorded/discovered in the archives in a short period of time;
- which means having no organized 20th anniversary, which I find a pity. I mean, Roxette management could have made a few efforts to make it a more memorable event, even despite the objective predicaments. Of course, it is also the lack of motivation on Per and Marie’s part, I must confess. Surely they are free to choose how they want to celebrate (if at all), but it is a great pity this opportunity to do something remarkable hasn’t been followed up.

A. Isn’t it weird that - except for Japan - the RoxBox is not available for pre-order at any store yet, while at the same time ’A Collection Of Roxette Hits’ (same supposed release-date) is available for nearly a week now, as is the single?
B. Same for cover shots... not a single photo has surfaced yet of the cover of the RoxBox while the one of the album is out since a week now. At the same time, mainly due to its size I’d say the RoxBox would actually need more time to be manufactured.
C. Why is the supposed tracklist of the RoxBox only published here on TDR while there’s not a single mention of it on either of the official websites; emi.se, emi.de, roxette.se, roxette.de, sonofaplumber.com (only not si regular user posted it on the soap.com-forum)?????
Don’t want to ’cause any further flames and such, but just from logical point of view it seems to me there’s definitely a very weird taste to all this...
AND PLEASE... DON’T START ABOUT THE TRACKLIST AGAIN!!! THINK MORE THAN JUST A BUNCH HERE ARE ABOUT TO THROW UP AT THE AMOUNT OF NASTY THREADS ABOUT IT AT THIS STAGE.
As someone on the German Roxette forum said ’I feel like throwing up more than I can eat’... in this case it’s not so much referring to the tracklist but rather to all flaming going on here the last few days.
PS: Can’t wait to see the video to and hear a snippet of ’One Wish’... and yes, here’s one of those who’s def. gonna buy the box
