I'm getting a kilt for my 30th birthday
ncurran said on September 2, 2006 19:01:
So bloody expensive though. £770 for the full outfit! Lucky i have a generous family!
Always wanted one of my own though, so looking forward to getting it. went and got measured up today
ncurran said on September 2, 2006 19:17:
ok, but it takes 6-8 weeks til i get it as it is all hand made and made to measure etc....a bit of a pain to wait, but hopefully it will be worth it

17th :) I think I read in another topic....
Neil I hope you’ll share some photos with us when you get it! :)

Yeah, the 17th of this month, so unfortunatly i wont have the kilt for my b’day, but no huge rush as i dont have an occasion to wear it to until i go to a wedding in december. But for sure I will try it on and post a pic when i get it

That is awfully expensive - you must have a very genrous family Neil. Incidently, mine falls on the 18th.
Any BIG plans for your 30th celebration?

its my birthday today! And hell yes, your parents are generous!
Eric, you have mail hun!
LittleSpooky said on September 3, 2006 15:07:
Neil in a skirt. This could be fun ;o)
Seriously, all the best with that. Just make sure you don’t get two big blokes turnin you upside down to “see what’s under the kilt”.

nate, ive organised a little get together/party in a pub in glasgow on sat 16th, just booked a little function bar/area and invited all my friends. As they live all over the place, no idea who will turn up but should be a good night anyway. I dont normally bother celebrating my bday properly...usually just go out for a few drinks with a couple of friends on a normal night out, but i thought i may aswell try and organise something this year as it is a big birthday.
Yes, i must have a generous family, but my sister (who is a pretty rich dentist), my mum and dad will all be chipping in.
Spooks, its a kilt, not a skirt and i dont need 2 men to turn my upside down to get my bits out, i can do that free of charge!

woooo hooooo lol, i love kilts me, so comfortable. arrr lol
Anarem said on September 3, 2006 16:44:
I’ve always wondered, if you aren’t wearing skivvies under the kilt, wouldn’t your naughty bits get kinda itchy?
Congrats on the kilt and on your 30th!
ncurran said on September 3, 2006 17:00:
No the kilt is very comfortable actually, and its quite good to ’hang loose’ for a change which is something that men never normally get a chance to do. Also, you are wearing the sporran, which is kind of heavy and it rests over the ’private area’, so even if there is a big gust of wind usually you are protected from exposing everything.

I think its great to go with tradition for your birthday, and it’s something you’ll have for ever....
ncurran said on September 3, 2006 18:02:
yeah, just a shame we dont have a family tartan (i have an irish surname), so i just went with a tartan that i liked. Its called Ramsay blue

Oh that is really nice.... :)
My parents asked me last week what I wanted for my 30th birthday next year....
LittleSpooky said on September 4, 2006 02:00:
Neil: I know what a kilt is. I’m working on getting something for my family’s crest(s) done. I was trying to make a joke, but obviously it fell flat.
ncurran said on September 4, 2006 11:22:
Spooks, i know and i did get it....maybe you didnt get my response :)?
LittleSpooky said on September 4, 2006 18:33:
Got that too.
Know of someone who HAD been turned upside down to find out if he was “regimental” or not.

Only worn a kilt once, back on New Years Eve for my Hogmany party. it wasn’t a proper one, just one from a fancy dress shop I think. But it looked real enough.
Anarem said on September 5, 2006 12:55:
Is it true that a man is judged by the size of his sporran? :-P
ncurran said on September 5, 2006 13:48:
Sporran:

Basically a man-purse purple. You wear around your waist in front of the kilt.
And anarem, no ive not heard that one before, though the one ive ordered with mine is pretty nice...all black with a shiny silver bit at the top
ncurran said on October 13, 2006 09:39:
Got a phone call that the kilt is ready to be picked up, so will prob go and get it today... so pictures coming soon!

Cheers. Now I just need an occasion to wear it to. Anyone planning on getting married soon?
Anarem said on October 15, 2006 15:19:
Hey, isn’t there going to be a fan meeting in the UK anytime soon? :-) You could wear it then.
ncurran said on October 15, 2006 20:50:
Yes, thats always a possibility i suppose, though i might feel like a bit of an idiot
LittleSpooky said on October 16, 2006 01:54:
Come to my graduation in March and wear it then. I wouldn’t care and if anyone laughs, *I* will give em a poke!
pwbbounce (moderator) said on October 16, 2006 07:26:
@neil - would be quite amusing though! No, seriously, I don’t think that’s the right place to wear it. You wouldn’t want to get it damaged

I want photos!
