Roxette shirt wearing time?!?!?!

Today was Australian flag day (a ridiculous concept worsened by the stupidity of having another nation’s flag in the corner of ours:

http://www.appliedlanguage.com/flags_of_the_world/medium_flag_of_austral...

...)

but is now the time to start pulling out the Roxette t shirts to remind people that Roxette exist? With the cult/street cred Roxette now hold it won’t be quite so embarassing and will offer immeasurable promotional value.

Do we choose a day or just start wearing 24/7?

And with spring just starting (for some of us) those short sleeves are perfect!

edit: too many justs

i wouldnt know where to buy a Roxette t-shirt...i cant even find posters of them :(

Bought 1 off ebay a while ago (CBB tour shirt).. You can buy some others as BIN’s

OK, from 3rd September we all start wearing them, deal?

The last few I bought were off Ebay (UK sellers) and two of them were only a few of pounds sterling.

Currently there are none for sale, but they certainly do come up. Nothing from pre Joyride days though.

Roxette shirt wearing day on a Friday would be good for me. What is the actual anniversary day? How is it defined? Has it passed? We could make the day the day OW is relesed to airplay or the stores.

Well, I have just returned from a trip to the bottle shop in the main street of my trendo suburb (for pics of my suburb see my comatose website) wearing a Roxette shirt (specifically the black one from the joyride tour) and no harassment and even some curious glances.

I didn’t know it was australian flag day today... well, there ya go.

I wear my CBB t-shirt all the time... there’s nothing more silly than buying a shirt so it can sit unworn in a box for decades.
I wear the joyride one less often, since it’s fairly tatty.

I also wear my RS t-shirt at work on occasion, and a lot of people see me there, because we’re very busy( I work at Chicago’s biggest H&M store), and sometimes get nice comments.

ROX ON!

still got several t-shirts packed away in my parents loft from previous tours’ merchandise. I’ll keep them nice and safe for the next tour.....heres hoping!

gonna order some 500’s pack of swarovski’s and make some rly deluxe one :)

woohoooo

LOL! I have about 12 Rox T shirts and I NEVER wear them. For some reason I decided to put on a Rox shirt today, and then I saw this thread!!!

@Sparvogamarie - Wear them all at once, then you’ll really be the “biggest” rox fan!

Feel free to send one or four down here, and I’ll wear them proudly for you ;)

OMG.... today I wore the shirt like I said....and I walk into this surf shop and the salesgirl runs up to me and say “WHERE DID YOU GET THAT SHIRT????” I said I got it from the Rox fanclub and she was like “I LOVE ROXETTE!!!!!” We started talking and then she called the other salesgirl to show her my top, and she got all excited too and told me what a big Rox fan she was. I gave my email addy to the girl and I’m gonna send her some pix and stuff. It was SO WEIRD to find 2 Roxfans here in Australia just because I decided to wear a Rox shirt for the first time in about 6 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wear your shirts guys!!! Who knows who you’ll meet!!!

@ brentnewtown .... I think you bought one of mine, I remember mailing it out to Australia (roxerally @ eBay)...

I still have two left, the Red Joyride one... perhaps I should list that one eBay, oh and I still have a Black C!B!B! one.... :)

I think the Red Joyride is quite a rare one.... :)

Hehe I need to go into more surf shops...

Why the heck would people not wear them anyway?

The whole point of t-shirts is to advertise the stuff you like... Keeping them stuck in a box so you can open it up every 15 years and gloat how you’ve got an unworn rare t-shirt yadda yadda holds no attraction to me.

Well, I guess one excuse is that some people don’t look good in t-shirts, which is reasonable.

Holy Shit.

Me thinks i’ll wear my per gessle for President T-shirt tommorow now that it’s warm.

There’s a lot of Roxe fans out there, they’re just in the closet.

Dave

I bought all the tour shirts, and for years they where hanging unworn in the wardrobe.... to this day I don’t know why I didn’t wear them!

Wore my CBB one to a sleepover, but none of my mates like Rox so I was ripped a little. Don’t mind though, I’m used to it!

’Me thinks i’ll wear my per gessle for President T-shirt tommorow now that it’s warm.’

Yeah, and get punched by someone cos they hate the RoxBox!

A little while back a couple of 13 yr. old girls showed interest in my shirt... hadn’t heard of roxette of course, and asked if it was a “vintage” or “oldie” band or something like that.
I thought about it and said yes.
They than became bamboozled by all the the cities on the back they’d never heard of.

Another young friend of mine once bought me an old vinyl single of ’The Look’ out of the blue because he’d seen me wearing my rox shirt hehe.

There are a lot of old Rox fans here in Australia who “lost touch” with them after 1995. Those who didn’t join the fanclub didn’t get any news on them and thought they’d disappeared. Unless they get the idea to search the net for Rox, they just think Rox vanished and split up. The girl I met yesterday had no idea they have a new single coming out, she didn’t even know Marie was sick!!!

Go Marie, you’ve scored 2 more sales for the single :-) if it gets a release here of course.

I’ve worn mine a few times, sadly no-one said anything good or otherwise. Maybe it’s time to pull it out again - with an addition “New single - One Wish!” Might grab some attention and add a few more sales :-D

No one’s gonna punch me. They’ll have no idea who gessle is, sadly.

Dave

LOL Dave!! But sadly true. Per could walk up and down the streets of Australia wearing a Roxette T-shirt and nobody would recognise him. Marie might get recognised, but not Per.

you may be right.

Dave

If he kept subtly whistling the part out of Joyride then they might.

@ Sparvogamarie

Even if they would have joined the Fanclub, it was very unlikely they would have gone any updates on stuff because it would seem the Fanclub didn’t ever really update things! lol

Lol, i have about 8 but they are so HUGE and so old looking now i would never wear them! i only wear my GT 25 tshirt now cos they finally started making tour tshirts for women!

Ally: True (lol), but I meant the period between 1995 - 1998 before the internet really took off, the fanclub was the only link to Roxette during those years. For those that didn’t get the Review, those 3 years are a long time to forget about a band and by 98/99 when the net became big I imagine those fans didn’t even think of searching Rox (it was the first thing I did the first time I ever used the net lol). The Review still came out semi-regularly back then and it was my only source of Rox except for German Bravo magazine that I couldn’t understand anyway! ;)

Ally77:

Yep, the Mazarin one. Good shirt too, thank you.

roxette was the first thing I looked up when I first used the net back in 1996.

Dave

Thanks Dave!>!>

EIL was mine.

Yes, my first ever URL was the one written in the SDLHA single cover! :-)

God, I can’t remeber what mine was, I was only 8 at the time!

Mine was Dan Zimmerman’s old “official” site!

@ brentnewtown .... ahh I remember!

@ Marie.... ahh sorry with you now.... my first site I think was the official FC link, and then I found TDR... I use to post from an internet cafe in TDR yonks ago long before I got a PC at home.....

Yeah Dan’s site was wicked, whatever happened to him?

I remember the old fanclub site, had heaps of cool pictures.

I also remember another cool roxette site, might of been done out of South Africa, I think his name was barry. I downloaded, SDLHA & UDST clips from there.

Dave

I didn’t really come to TDR, then after it closed for a while my friend James kept going on about how good it was. I usually went to the old HAND official site and the forum there, when that closed I came here.
