Topic in a LONG LINE of topics. However, my thoughts don’t fit elsewhere, and I’m not going to post in 15 different topics just to find a category for em.

So, the RoxBox is a disappointment to a lot of folks. Okay. I can’t say as I’m surprised at the track listing. Not in the least. Mr. Per Gessle “promised” the RoxBox was going to be ____________. Okay. Was it a guaranteed written contract between two or more parties? Was it “written in stone” (as the saying goes)? Not that I’m aware of. Guess I’m guilty of not keepin up with the “News” part of TDR (I usually head right back here to “Small Talk”), so I missed the “golden promise”.

To me, Ms. Marie Fredriksson’s health has EVERYTHING in the world to do with the continued health and success of Roxette. After all, her face is up there too. People say that Roxette is “Per’s baby”. Uh... o_O No, I think Marie’s had a fair share of contribution in there somewhere. Granted, Per’s had the “lion’s share” of the business end, but it was a decision made between them and whomever. Far as I know, neither of them asked my opinion on that.

“Roxette’s gonna lose a fan...” Come down off the cross, use the wood, build a bridge and GET OVER IT! I have words to say ’bout that statement: Buh bye, nice knowin yas fair-weather fan. What’s a “fair weather fan”? It’s usually referred to someone in sports who is only a fan of a team if they’re doing well, or having a winning streak. That’s sounding like some folks here.

I’ve been a Roxette fan since 1989. Some of you have been fans longer / less time than I have. I joined up with Lars and others doing the RNAF promotion here in the States for WICF off of HAND. I’ve “paid my dues” as it were. But ya know what? When the lights go down, and everyone’s left for the night: I’m the one you see out there with a broom, cleaning up saying: “Damn what a rush!” Why? Because that’s who I am. I’m no one special, just another fan in a long line of fans. But I’ll tidy up before I go.

And it’s gonna be a long time before I leave this Joyride.

Oh well, I missed the news too, so I’m still a bit offside and I think that... well, whatever it is they do or do not, some comments are way over the top.

Quite a few have “gone off the deep end”, yeah.

Yeah, one of mine has been removed... but I was so angry it was the only thing I could do! It was overly harsh, even for me!

I’m angry, upset, yes...but less than I was. I did go a lot overboard, so hands up, I’m sorry dudes.

whateveriam: Takes a big person to admit when they’ve “screwed up”. Your feelings are absolutely justified. Why? Because they’re YOUR FEELINGS, and right or wrong, that’s how you feel.

I guess I’m just not so wound up because I have other things to focus on in my life:

Graduation from college, landing that job that will earn me better money, paying off my student loans, getting my National Certification out of the way, etc. The “issues” surrounding the RoxBox does have my attention, absolutely, but it’s not nearly as major as what’s coming up ahead in my life.

Hopefully, no one felt like I was trying to invalidate their feelings. Far from it. Just don’t make the “threat” of “Roxette losing a fan” over this. Being overly dramatic is a bit much.

@spooks: you typed the words right out of my hands!

;-)

usualy its me with the negative comments and i’d have to getting my flame retardent suit out by now

yes the single cover is bad but worse things happen at sea!

yes the track listing is disapointing but mostly cos the internet is to blame for the amount of rare stuff that can now be found without much trouble so before we all start on the ’Gessle you lying git’ bandwagon has anyone ever stopped to think that some of the stuff mentioned might not actualy exsist anyway!

atleast Myth is not a......*ahem* myth ;-)

if u don’t like it don’t buy it, i shall most likely not be buying it either but i doubt that if i went and shouted it from the rooftops that its going to change anything cos i should think the cd’s & box are pretty much a done deal!

there you go theres my 50p’s worth ;-P don’t like it don’t read or just flame me i don’t care cos the flames can’t be half as bad as the flack rox has taken in the last few days

*hands p & m a flame retardent suit each*

I have had some negative comments, I think from me only about the single cover… but thinking on it now I can laugh about it!

I will still buy the releases, in fact I am looking forward to getting them

Rox released a roxbox???? :| lol

Yes, I am another one of those people who complained about the content of the RoxBox. But thinking about it a day or two later, I guess it won’t be all that bad. And even if it is, I’ll buy it anyway (and I bet so will 99% of everybody else who complained).

I’ve been sitting here thinking, “What will Roxette have to do to piss me off so much that I won’t be a fan anymore?”. I couldn’t come up with an answer. So I won’t “quit” being a fan anytime soon.

Like I said, I am also disappointed in the RoxBox. But, in retrospect, I guess we all overreacted. That’s the kind of thing that happens when a group of people feel so passionate about something. They fire eachother up and cause a “riot”.

So, LittleSpooky, do you have an extra broom for me? ;)

I also knew it would be better to have a night of sleep about it. And it helped. ;-)
I felt sad... but mainly because of all the negative reactions. This was a bit infectious.
Yet I have not changed my mind about the “One wish -cover” -> I still don’t like it! :-P
It won’t find a way into my wallpaper folder, the way it is designed now. *lol* Better go with a nice landscape instead... ;-)

Well said Spooks!!!!!!! Well written.

I don’t know of any other band which has such a strong following. It’s amazing really

na , im gonna leave this joyride on a high if things dont change but not forever and never leave there music. i love roxette and there songs for years. But end of day i will not be taken for granted, and i feel with this rox box i am. i will always be a fan , BUT i will not continue to support them in the manner and effort as i have if nothing is reciprocated, i will have no worries to hang my broom up at all thats who i am. realistically its a business hard to take but true, its up to each individual how they want to get paid and what there fee is weather tidying up with a broom or seeing a new pic of marie healthy.

Ill hold my breath to see what comes as im dont know yet still. (the video looks good and cant wait to hear the song) Nothing is one sided give and take. I never do something half hearted and if i dont like it im not going to pretend to, thats my prerogative. I can totally see why others are saying what they say and support fully some on them views myself, Im not going to paint something which is black over with white. Roxette music i will always keep close to me. (now which one at my funeral ? lol) Im just glad to see marie well and her family still have her.

Yeah, one of the comments removed by TDR was not my finest hour...

They also removed my little bday tangent as well. Good good.

I think that all of us - who wrote offending and aggressive things - feel sorry now in a way. But I am still very disappointed and do still stand behind what I was saying.

It’s not about “don’t buy it, if you don’t want to”. It’s about that Per somehow made a promise and we expected in a way that he knows what a hard-core fan owns and what would be completely new and rare.

The expectations were too high and they disappointed us. It doesn’t matter who is guilty and responsible for this “drama”.

Furthermore: To feel sorry about some words and sentences is ok. On the other hand: It was a natural reaction (as some here said before) and there is nothing to say sorry for. When you get disappointed in “real life” you would react the same way.

People will buy this big joke that is called Rox Box anyway. So in the end nothing will happen. They produce crap and we buy it. There is no reason for them to “think” about things they did wrong. They will sell their crap anyway.

I will never be no fan myself. There is always something like a “bond” holding me and “my” band together and I enjoy it. But as rox-kuryliw said: I won’t support this band by buying every crap they release. How much more GH albums are there to come? Don’t you feel fooled yourself?

Good thread, btw.

I don’t regret my feelings! AT least TDR took off my worst one!

Mannnnn i missed all of this! This is what i get for never visiting the rox forums. SHIT. Cant you guys repeat some of those comments mwhahahahahhaa? Damn damn. LOLZ. Atleast i saw the sleave cover thanks to Bengt.. else that would have been a surprize too haha. I dont see anything wrong with da sleeve. They’ve had worse! lol.
Chill out gurls and guys. Its just a band. Its just music. Take deep breaths ;)

*hugs* and *kisses*

Ananda

(yes i dont know what had gotten into me either today)

*passes a broom over to FirstGirl*

I think the thing I was mostly trying to get at was:

Don’t come in, have a tantrum and say things like: “I will never be a fan again” etc. because when you really cut it, does it matter at the loss of 1 or 2 or 10 or 20?

Look at the dynamics of Roxette now. World tour? Honestly? I don’t think so. MAYBE a couple of play dates in cities like: Buenos Aires, NYC, LA, etc on the North / South American continents. Nothing like Joyride will happen again. If it does, I’d be shock outta my shorts. Joyride was pretty much the pinnacle of their career. When they were “making it big” they were in their mid-30s. Most musicians either have a family established or they don’t because they don’t want to subject their kids to them being gone all the time.

Like I said, I missed the “golden promise” of the never before released tracks. I did find it on the front page and this is what I have to say:

Is everyone here on crack? Go back and read the article. Better yet, I’ll copy and paste the key parts:

(emphasis added by me to hopefully drive a point home)
STOCKHOLM - In response to several rumors on the RELEASES of the “Rox Box” and “Greatest Hits,” Per Gessle tells The Daily Roxette that there will be the following RELEASES:

1. One standard CD with 20 tracks + a 12-page booklet. (SOUNDS LIKE GH3 TO ME)
2. One deluxe package with a 20-track CD + 18 videos on a DVD + a 20-page booklet (“Awesome!”, Per comments). (GH WITH SOME TOYS)
3. One standard CD for the Spanish-speaking markets with 20 tracks including one Spanish song (one English removed) + a 12-page booklet. (GH FOR THOSE THAT ARE IN THE SPANISH SPEAKING MARKET)
4. The ROX BOX with 78 songs including 14 unreleased ones + all the videoclips Roxette has done + the entire MTV Unpugged show. (THE ONE EVERYONE’S BITCHING ABOUT)

The official titles will be: “The Rox Box/Roxette ’86-’06” and “A Collection of Roxette Hits - Their 20 Greatest Songs!”

This tells me 2 things:
1- There’s a “Greatest Hits” ..... again. -_-
2- There’s a RoxBox that is released SEPARATE from “GH3”. RoxBox is reported to have 78 songs. GH3 has 20... people you have 58 more songs to go.

By the grace of the Gods and Goddesses, everyone got so wound up that this is what the RoxBox was going to be in final.

I’m holding to this opinion that GH3 is the one with the track listing, the tracks listed WILL be included on RoxBox, but so will everything else you people are whining about being gone.

If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. Life WILL go on. If I’m right... *shrugs*

TB, if you want, I will send everything I said that hasn’t been removed...

There’s more to life then Roxette...

ye i do understand. BTW i heard MATAH in my huge morrisons shopping today and half way through someone turned it up really loud , made me laugh . I was thinking i loved rs service era so much , everything about it was roxette in full prime for me. ( was to young first time round lol)

I was upset with the sleeves and the tracklist too. But I was only upset when I read that but not really think about it, because there’s other things that more important in my life.

We had My World, My Love, My Life in Morrissons last Thursday, actually took me about 15 seconds into the lyrics to relise! lol

Wow, I get chav rubbish at mine!

same here whateveriam but it was only when it was turned up half way through that i clicked that it was roxette.

Its always the same, I go and its chav rubbish, my mate goes, and its something good like Rox or THL or Depeche or something! Just not fair!

fair comment.....i like the bit about the bridge...im gonna use it one time if thats ok :)

im used to being fans of bands that have long breaks(Ace Of Base) or split up or die or get dropped by the label so i think ill be around for a bit longer yet...

ive been a fan since 1999 not that long compared to some but it was Wish I Could Fly that made me buy Dont Bore Us Get To The Chorus....it stayed in my stereo for 6 solid months.

the thing that surprised me the most was that i stuck with Roxette and didnt and still havent lost my appetite for them.

i dont think i ever will

ally77.......when i worked for Wilkinsons in Widnes My World came on there and it was halfway through the song before i even noticed!needless to say that i almost dropped to the floor in shock....i just decided to walk round with an inane grin on my face instead...

i work n Morissons now in Widnes and on my first shift the other week Milk & Toast & Honey came on...i got the same grin on my face and thought to myself maybe this is a good luck sign for my new job.

im mad i know

No you’re not, I heard Pretty Vacant when I first started :-S
