(sorry, it´s dean, not dave)

who is he? well, here´s his story:

“Roxette lore has it that, while studying in Sweden, an American exchange student from Minneapolis, Dean Cushman, heard “The Look,” then one of the most played songs on radio, and brought a copy of Look Sharp! home for the 1988 holiday break. According to Gessle, Cushman “badgered” a Minneapolis radio station, KDWB 101.3 FM, to play the song. Based on positive caller feedback, the station’s program director copied the song and distributed it to other stations, and within weeks the song became very popular.” (www.wikipedia.org)

i wonder where he is now. is he a fan? is he here? can he get crush on you into the states?
what do you think?

Radio is so different today.. it will never be possible to happen again the way it did back then..

besides that, rumours say that the story about the exchange student is not true..

i can´t believe it´s not true. i always thought roxette story was so good. now, if this guy doesn´t exist, then roxette made it on their own. i think that´s even better!

It’s true. I posted an article and an interview with him, it’s on these forums somewhere, or on www.roxette.net

Dave

Wikipedia is dumb, people write stuff and others just come and change it and it’s not always accurate. Per admitted years later that Dean Cushman was not really responsible for Roxette’s success, it did happen, but Roxette were also getting airplay at other stations and a record deal was already in the works. Per and Marie just told it to the media because it was a great story at the time.

Ha!

*goes and gets bet money she’s just won off her friend*

There’s only one way Dean Cushman (or anyone else) could get a single on the radio now - pay the station big bucket loads of cash to play it. That’s how it works these days.

Marie’s got it. That’s the true story. Dean did his thing, but it sounded better than it really was.
