Listening to Per on iPod

Will someone please tell me how to get Son of a Plumber into iTunes/iPod? It’s copy controlled. Per himself talks about how much he loves his iPod, but he won’t let his own music be compatible with the format. What’s up with that? Please help! Thanks!

I assume you have the cd?
Then get a program called CDex http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/
Then Turn Autoplay Off on your Drive, or hold down shift, while you insert the cd, so the copy Protection software doesn’t load.
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article03-018
Then run CDex
Select the CD/DVD Drive you have the disc in [if you have more than 1] and all the tracks should display.
Audio tracks are the songs, and Data tracks are th Copy protection software, so don’t try and rip that, just do the songs.
Then Click “read from remote freedb” [in the CDDB menu]. this will fill out all the track info in the ID3 Tags.
Then go to Options -> Settings and select the desired Bitrate, and then Select all of the tracks [Except the Data track] and press F9 to extract to MP3, you can also extract to WAV.
Cheers
Dave

I got SOAP into iTunes without any problem, directly from within the application. If an EMI-DRM-player pops up from the CD just quit it. :-)

I just put the CD in normally and it copied the tracks onto iTunes, then onto the iPod. No problems at all. All of their Copy Protection discs were the same. Basically - no copy protection!! lol

Thanks, Ditroia. CDex worked perfectly. (Yes, I not only bought the CD, I had to pay extra because it’s an import and I live in the US.)

No Problems Mate :)
Your Complaining ;) I Live in Australia and imported all three versions.
While you could probably import the songs in itunes CDex allows for a better quality rip,
Dave

Me too! CD-EX rules! Even the really old version on my 95 that will only switch on if you put a CD in THEN switch it on.

Emil_BG, with CD-EX, you can vary bitrate from 32kbps to 320bps, the standard setting is 128kbps. I hope this helps.
