Chart positions in Japan in Australia?
Wicf said on April 28, 2006 16:55:
Does anyone know all Roxette chart positions in Japan and Australia? All I know is RTY on #6 in Japan, and WICF on #57 in Australia... Thanx
Sparvogamarie said on April 29, 2006 07:10:
The Look, Joyride and IMHBL were number one in Australia. I know that all the singles until The Big L were top 10.

@RobS
Some of those chart positions look wrong.
DFS: don’t think it got to no 3
FLAF: peaked at no 7 I’m pretty sure (as has been said the 7th consecutive and final top 10)
SMT: it didn’t reach top 10
Big L.: don’t think it got to no 13
Although, in those days there were two Australian charts so I could be wrong in what I have said above. Aria (used by Take 40 and Rage) and Australian Music Report (used by Smash Hits and possibly was the chart source for the Rock 40 countdown ???). I vaguely remember FLAF peaking higher on AMR than Aria.
It is stupid that Aria don’t offer online access to the charts from those days. I think they used to have archived charts back to mid nineties but checking their site now I can’t see that it is still available. The following website does contain past charts but ony back to 1993 - prior years you can only get year end charts.

I’m pretty sure DFS did make #3 cos I had an ARia chart with it on, but I think Brent is right about the others. I’m fairly certain SMT didn’t make top 10 and I don’t think FLAF got as high as #2, it did in USA though.
Wicf said on April 30, 2006 07:34:
What about singles from DBUGTTC, HAND and RS in Japan? They were never released there?
Sparvogamarie said on April 30, 2006 07:38:
I don’t think there’s a lot of Japanese fans here. Maybe one or two.
Room_service said on April 30, 2006 10:21:
Don’t know which singles were released in Japan after CBB. All I know is Pay The Price/Anyone. I guess that one was the last to date. By the way, it’s not a big market for Roxette & related releases (although TWATG, DSR and The Change were released there). Don’t know if IETSV was available too.
Hotblooded said on April 30, 2006 11:34:
DFS: Definitely made #3
FLAF: Peaked at #7
SMT: Wasn’t top 10 I think it peaked around #12
The Big L: I think was #21 or something like that :)
BTW there did used to be two charts one by ARIA (the official sales chart) and another which used sales and other sources. I remember video hits used this chart.

I thought most were right?? Oh well now i know :-) I only know the ones from HDYD onwards, sadly half of them never even got to the charts :-(
It would be really nice if ARIA could post all the old charts...hopefully someday.

I remember reading somewhere that Anyone/Pay The Price was #51 in Tokio Hot 100... But I don’t know what kind of a chart TH100 is...
rox-kuryliw said on April 30, 2006 14:28:
i would thought Stars and tcoth would of charted well in japan, but saying i have no idea the music culture there at all ?
Ingo said on May 1, 2006 17:55:
I only know from articles that Rox’s albums were very succesful in Japan, C!B!B! was the highest new entry of a non-japanese album in Japans Chart history and HAND was awarded a Gold record there.

what i did find out that surprised me was that the look was #1 in OZ for 6 weeks!it only made #7 in The UK :(
Hotblooded said on May 3, 2006 03:17:
Yep and ’The Look’ was the 2nd biggest selling single of that year (89’) behind Madonna’s ’Like A Prayer’!!!
Wicf said on May 4, 2006 15:40:
I’m a bit confused about Australia... Someone says TBL made it into top 20, but than someone doesn’t agree... And I’ve found #57 spot for WICF on wikipedia.org, but someone here says it peaked at #65... But Roxette singles charted in 2 australian charts, so maybe that’s the reason...
EDIT: Oh my God, I’ve just looked at Wikipedia, and someone’s added new chart positions there and they’re wrong! Stars at #52 and MATAH at #58! I really don’t understand it
pwbbounce (moderator) said on May 4, 2006 15:43:
Many people think that they don’t seem that succesful in the UK, but looking at some charts from around the world, they seem to be more succesful than i thought comparing to other places.
Wicf said on May 4, 2006 15:55:
@ pwbbounce: Yes, you’re right. For example, all 5 singles from CBB managed to reach Top 50 (first four singles made it into Top 30) in the UK, but in Germany only 2 singles reached Top 50.
Ingo said on May 5, 2006 18:01:
When you look at the Top 40 the UK chart statistics are rather good for Roxette, but looking at number of Top 10 Hits, you have only 5 in the UK, but 8 in Germany and 9 in Australia.
RobS said on May 6, 2006 01:08:
Just had a look at some old ARIA charts that i’ve got. Looks like RTY only got to 50 for 2 wks. I was certain it made it to the top40?!
ChartFreak said on August 11, 2006 01:08:
I am not really a Roxette fan, but found this thread doing a search for ARIA charts. I have been an avid Australian chart follower since 1988, and can list the Roxette ARIA singles chart peaks I know below - all of them are accurate and taken from my own records. I only have top 60 data pre 1994 at this point:
The Look #1
Dressed For Success #3
Listen to Your Heart #10
Dangerous #9
It Must Have Been Love #1
Joyride #1
Fading Like a Flower #7
The Big L #20
Spending My Time #16
Church of Your Heart #55
How Do You Do #13
Queen of Rain (missed top 60, reached #77 on AMR chart)
Almost Unreal #17
Sleeping In My Car #18
Crash! Boom! Bang! #73
Fireworks #68
Run to You #49
From memory Wish I Could Fly charted in the 50s-60s, but I haven’t bothered to look that one up yet.

@Chartfreak
do you have an online source for Aria charts you wish to share? or do you have a mountain of aria charts sitting at home??
RobS said on April 29, 2006 01:52:
I’ve got a list of the Australian ones around somewhere, i’ll post them if i can find them.
