How wealthy are Per and Marie?

How wealthy are Per and Marie??
In a old Article from 1991 standing Per had 40millions.

Does it matter??

Probably more than me or you!!

According to an article in Dagens Industri (Today’s Industry) Per’s owns companies and assets worth more than 500 million SEK.

this in pound kroner dollars?

SEK means swedish krona

that’s about 37.5 million GBP. Phew! Maybe Per could do something about making poverty history too?

onlywhenidrem: No, he can not. If not all the politicians in the world can do it, why would he? And Bill gates, who are like 1000 times (i think) richer than Gessle cant, he can´t either. That´s not his job.

(Please don´t make this a political forum. It´s not fun when everyone are ultra left and anti americans.)

Anyway, I wonder which one of Marie and Clarence have mafde most money? He is producer, and she is “just” a singer.

GT 85: who was talking about politics, ultra left and anti americans?? But no Per cant do anything about world poverty, I agree. Not by himself anyway.
And I think Per has made more money than Marie, since he writes most of the songs.

@ GT 85, calm down my dear - it’s only an advert! lol jeez! Also you’re right - none of us need to worry about anyone else in the world it is just down to the politicians. Thank goodness I am not one of them, I would have to think about someone else! lol ;o)

Wow Per has his fingers in many pies!

Per had an taxed yearincome at 12000000 SEK(don’t remeber the year, 2004 or 2003 I think it was) if I remember correctly...

an article at the subject in Aftonbladet from 1997 http://www.aftonbladet.se/noje/9901/11/gessle.html

EDIT:
Found interesting articles on DI.se... Marie and Per had the same taxed income for incomeyear 2000: 5000000 SEK... but Per made 8000000 SEK on the stockmarket, Marie only made 400000 SEK there...

According to DI marie has approx 100 000 000 SEK and Per 500 000 000 (in companys)

Roxette Recordings and Productions made a profit of 5 million SEK

1 USD is approx 7 SEK

The articles can be read here in Swedish http://di.se/Nyheter/?page=%2fAvdelningar%2fArtikel.aspx%3fO%3dIndex%26A...

I highly doubt Marie is only worth 7.5million (GBP). She’s 50% of Roxete which means she would automatically get 50% of artist royalties sold which is usually around 1 - 1.50 (GBP) per album sold. Yes, there is tax to be considered but I would have said her wealth is easily around 15 - 20million (GBP).

Per gets more of course, as he writes all the songs.

Give it a article from last year?

Yes, the songwriter does get most of the money of sales and success etc. It’s somewhere up to 80% of all the money made of the songs / music that goes to the songwriter.
So it is no surprise why once famous people like Linda Perry for instance decided to step out of the limelight and work as a songwriter only and still making a shit load of money.

So Bill Gates doesn’t do any charity???
Weird, because Time magazine said recently he and his wife are the two people who donate to charity the most in the whole world...

I noticed the last Roxette CDs don’t carry anymore the “Per & Marie support Amnesty International” sentence in their booklets.
Also I noticed their last CDs booklets are made of a very environmentally unfriendly glossy paper...

@eBay: “It’s somewhere up to 80% of all the money made of the songs / music that goes to the songwriter.”

WHERE DO YOU GET THAT FROM????
Most of the money goes to the record companies.
It’s more like 10% for the artist!
The songwriters get a fixed tax from being broadcasted, song covers and the number of records sold, but in no way they get 80% of the money you pay for a CD!!!!

The case you pose, if her previous songs were so famous (I don’t know her) she will be receiving the royalties from those songs she wrote in the past until her death. And if she writes new songs and manages to sell them to performing artists (which is not always easy, by the way), the royalties derived from the rights of these songs will sum up to her income.
But, this is a very weird case. In no way and by no means are songwriters wealthy people. Most of them struggle very hard for their art (and I mean also struggling for a living).
I think you got the picture very distorted from a lucky person’s case that doesn’t reflect reality.
