Can you edit stupid thread titles?

Just a suggestion...there are some thread titles such as “the question begs” or “is it true” that don’t really tell you what the thread is about. You end up clicking on them because you don’t remember what the thread was about. I was wondering if the mods can edit them to say “Is it true that there is a Rox movie?” or something relevant to the subject?

I thought it was obvious that people SHOULD write good titles. But I know they don’t. Sometimes at least I rewrite the worst. :)

It seems to me some people do it deliberately so that more people will click. It works, if I saw “What is your fave song?” I would ignore it. If I see “An important question...” or “I wonder....” I will click on it to see what it’s about. The annoying thing is that with such vague titles, I always forget which one is what. Like at the moment “The Question Begs” is about a RS tour video, and “Is it true?” is about a Rox movie. But you wouldn’t know that from the titles!

Sometimes, I can’t fit everything up there I wanna say. But then again... I’m just a windbag

LOL Spooks. I just hate being “tricked” into reading a thread by a misleading title, and I really hate visiting the same thread over and over because I can’t remember that “Share” is a stupid topic about file exchanging. On the Star Wars forum, if you do that the thread gets locked, and you have to go to the mods and suggest a new title or it will stay locked. (They’re mega tough over there, you can’t even breathe without getting your thread locked!)

Thanks to TDR staff who have been correcting stupid thread titles!

How busy can you get?!
Is it such pain to click (and ’regret’) and simply click BACK? For me, it’s no bigger problem having different kind of (more interesting) topic names with a slightly altered content.
It would seem a bit annoying if someone rewrote my typing “better”.

I also have a problem with such “blind” topics... and change them when I can.

How come the user can’t edit the topic? If the mods can why can’t the orgininal poster?
How about a feature where if you mouse-over a thread title, the first few words of the topic are revealed.
Otherwise a great Forum.

Or... seeing as that solution means extra ongoing work for the mods without that much reward, how about a message during registration suggesting that it would be helpful if thread titles give a good indication of the content? A plea in a new thread from a mod could be helpful as a quick alternative, if deemed appropriate. Just a thought. Best wishes from Rich ;-)
