Our Hobbies and Activities

Hi everyone!
I thought it would be interesting and fun to know a little more about each other so let’s talk about our hobbies and activities! How do you spend your spare time? What sports do you like, do you do volunteer work, what gives you joy and some satisfaction in life?
BTW, I am currently searching for new ways to spend my time (the old hobbies seem to have disappeared or I have outgrown them) so I’d be grateful for some input.
I like
- Roxette (oh really :P)
- listening to music (Rox & co)
- cats (have to do that from a distance since I cannot get a cat of my own due to health reasons :-/)
- languages (but cannot keep them up on the level I want to since I just don’t have the energy to do it after a long workday)
- watching TV (have to agree with PG, the programme’s getting worse and worse but some nice series like Lost, Desperate Housewives, Gilmore Girls, various Star Treks, Babylon 5, Friends... let you keep the faith)
- going to cinema (if there is a nice film)
- reading (Harry Potter, fun books, travel guides to prepare my trips, some nice leisure reading, may involve cats)
- travelling
- dancing (was a member of a jazz dance group but it fell apart about 5 years ago and I never found another)
- receiving and writing letters (has dimished over the years, internet/forums have taken over to a certain degree and there are a few nice people left who still like writing emails)
- It is great to spend time with my friends’ children and see them discover the world.
Last year I started Nordic Walking as a workout activity (but I wouldn’t call it a hobby). Tried tap dance and belly dancing but it was not really my thing. I also want to try yoga and specific gymnastics for the back (makes me sound like a granny, doesn’t it). I might want to try Pilates as well but I think I am not really fit enough yet for that.
I’d like to help at the local animal asylum but they close at the time I can leave work so that doesn’t really fit.
I am a curious person so keep telling us about yourselves!

Im so excited cos im obsessed with animals!
Ally - you have a dog - im so jealous - i want a dog but i work all day and dont want to leave it home - im trying to convince my wife that i could be a full time house wife just so i can play with a dog all day long at home...
anyway - hobbies - ive just teamed up with a local school through my employer to be a mentor to 14-16 year olds - you know, someone they can talk to about school, home, friends family etc thats confidential...
my favourite hobbie is skateboarding - which i could do a lot more if it didnt rain all the time...
Im going to bay sixty6 in london for my 30th birthday in a few weeks just so i can skate all day!
my odd hobby is stopping every dog i see in the street or the park so i can kiss and cuddle it and tell it how beautiful it is....
just taking up flying kites again in Richmond park and feeding the wildlife and swans at Windsor Castle....
obsessed with music so have about 800 cds - spend most of my time with my earphones on at work listening to any music i can get my hands on...

Okay my hobbies...
Let’s see...
I like Roxette, I was obsessed but I think it’s taliored off a little bit now as I am discovering once again music from other artists!
Lanaguages but again, I am normally to lazt to read or study and I really should find the time to do it more, as I know it’s something I would be good at.
Dog walking, I love to just hook Alfie’s lead on and head wherever we find. It’s great to escape life sometimes.
Writing, I blog have done for years and I find it good to write down all my thoughts and feelings.
Reading, love books, have lots I have not read yet, but again I lack time...
Computers... I find this box that plugs into the wall has perhaps begun to overule my life a little bit and I keep saying I’ll stay offline for a bit and have a break but its like a cocaine addiction!
I like old things, antiques and stuff, get that passion from my mum!
