hehe yep that’s right, if you would like then it would be great if you could just post your response here (I’ve edited the above thread and I hope it sounds simpler now) *blush*

I think it should be based on the original release of the song, only for the fact it would be much easier to collate the results.
Otherwise...
SHOULDN’T 1. Live versions (lncl. Things will never be the same, tourism version)
SHOULDN’T 2. Unplugged versions
SHOULDN’T 3. Demo versions
SHOULDN’T 4. Differently titled versions (i.e. Christmas for the broken hearted)
SHOULDN’T 5. Song sung by another member versions (i.e. Almost Unreal, Per singing)
SHOULDN’T 6. NON-SINGLE remixes (incl “tits and ass” and rarities)
SHOULD 7. SINGLE remixes (i.e. The Look ’95 and Fingertips ’93)
SHOULD 8. Different song versions on other albums (i.e. So Far Away (Tourism version))

I’m not sure I understood this poll correctly but I think every single version of any song (including live, remix, unplugged etc.) is like a different song, so they should all be separated in the list (if anyone includes such versions in their voting).

Hi Toby. In my opinion the list would be most useful if each song features only once. This way votes are not split simply because someone has a slight preference for (and mentions) one version rather than another. If in lots of examples different versions of the same song are being included in the same top 10 then I guess there is a good case for including them separately, but I don’t recall this happening. The problem I see with counting different versions of the same song as different entries is that splitting their votes statistically encourages tracks with two or more versions to rate lower than they should on average compared with tracks with just the one version, and I don’t think that that helps the usefulness of the poll. And therefore I would say >>SHOULDN’T

Thanks for voting! I’ve been giving this some careful consideration, but in the end I feel that by far the less exhausting option is the one I perhaps should go with - where I include each song only once (and collate the separate song version’s votes all together).
I regret that this may visibly not have been 100% of the voters’ choices. However I thank you all very deeply and from the heart for your loyal participation. Will update the new version of the list and submit soon!

OK guys... I need some of your input here. Which (if any) of the following song versions (listed below) should I list individually in my top-100 survey? And which should I just merge the votes with the original versions?
1. Live versions (lncl. Things will never be the same, tourism version)
2. Unplugged versions
3. Demo versions
4. Differently titled versions (i.e. Christmas for the broken hearted)
5. Song sung by another member versions (i.e. Almost Unreal, Per singing)
6. NON-SINGLE remixes (incl “tits and ass” and rarities)
7. SINGLE remixes (i.e. The Look ’95 and Fingertips ’93)
8. Different song versions on other albums (i.e. So Far Away (Tourism version))
9. Other type(s) of version(s) (Please tell us!)
This is an important question for me which i am pondering about with regard to my top-100 survey so please do post your feedback here if you would like to. :)
