“Per Marie function?”
That’s funny *lol*

I believe Visa is working on a new design for the site, and no doubt an updated smalltalk.
Who knows what he has got planned, whether he decides to use one of them, or write his own like with the current SmallTalk.
Personally i’d be happy if he leaves it as it is :)

That’s your opinion.
Because this forum does not have all the new “flashy” things you see on a lot of other forums, it is a very clear forum.
I like it very much the way it is now, much better then all those forums with the emoticons, avatars and other things that make it shouting and unclear.
This is a great forum, perfect by its simplicity!

this is not “what software are you using” - the coding for this website has been programmed entirely by Visa, so no external free script or whatever is used :)
AND it was chosen to be simple like this, I guess this is what makes the site a serious one.

I like this forum, and if it has emoticons, avatars and other things, (sorry harriej, I have used your words... ) it would be almost impossible to me... my connection is really slow!!!

Thank god for this “poor software” I say. No extra crap at all. Plain and simple.
Let’s wait and see what the new version is like. :)
harriej said on February 12, 2006 23:04:
tevensso, agree 100% with you.
Could not have said it better.

Yes, search, pm and other useful stuf like quoting. I wasn’t suggesting any flashy features, that’s for noobs.
If you have ever used/administrated a forum that is using phpBB or PunBB, you wouldn’t want to switch back.

I have, and do, I run the SOAP forum, which is nice, but I think this one is just as nice. True, it’s a bit dated, but Visa’s cooking up some new stuff. :)
Jud (moderator) said on February 13, 2006 22:32:
xeven: you don’t know how to admin/moderate this forum, and I tell you, it can’t be easier :)
PHPBB is kinda nice, even though I don’t like the default version at all.. those icons and smilies are U G L Y :P

PHPBB is okay but it don’t suit smalltalk... this place is great the way it is....
As for those free forums.... yeah great for all those nasty adverts and pop ups... they are just so annoying!

... and PM is short for “Personal/private message”. ;-)
ETA: Regarding phpBB - don’t like it too much as well. On the other hand, I didn’t like vBulletin very much either when another board I visit regularly started using it instead of SMF. But now that I’ve seen part of the administrative side of it, I really like it... it makes moderating a pretty big board actually enjoyable. ;-)

@ xeven
I’ve used many of the phbb forums and I am still using them, I still prefer this though!
I am also a global mod at another forum so have experienced on the admin side of it, I still prefer this...

Hi
I’m pretty new as a registered user but I’ve surfing around this forum for a very long while. One thing I can’t get is why you guys have such a bad forum software when there are other free and really good easy-to-setup systems out there.
Two really good ones are PunBB and phpBB. If you wan’t to pay a price of 160$ for it, you can use vBulletin. They have several advanced features and you manage them really easy.
If you are interested in some more information check out The PHP Resource Index.

With another software this forum really would bloom.
