Lund

Hi Folks,
He he, it has been really nice to read your kind words, thanks :-)
Yeah the job is at Lund University (scientific research). Lots of students = lots of parties, eh? Bring it on! And snow as well? Wow, I’ve not seen the white stuff for years... sounds great! Hmmm, I really must remember *not* to mention that the reason I want the job is so that I can hear Gyllene Tider on the radio :D
I’ll only be living the dream if I get the job though, and maybe my potential employers won’t like me, so I’m not getting too excited just yet. But I now have an interview confirmed for the second week of March, so I can look forward to another visit to Sweden (and probably with my expenses paid this time!).
I’ll probably use Copenhagen airport and then spend a day in the Danish capital after my visit to Lund. If someone knows of good places to stay or visit in either city then please let me know! Cheers for the link Ted. I also checked out the Oresund Bridge on the internet, which looks quite funky. Hopefully some exciting time ahead...
Best wishes from Rich ;-)

Lund is about 40 km from Malmö, and Malmö is a scream away from Denmark. :) The only problem is that they don’t speak Swedish down there... Ha ha ha!

Folkuniversitetet in Lund offers a summer Swedish course.
And good luck with the interview!

Hey Rich! You’re living my dream :)
What job are you going for?

Are you going to work for the University there?
Most of what I know about Lund is that it has one of the three top universities in Sweden, so I guess that as with students comes party, you can party around a lot.

The last time I was in Lund it was a snowy hellhole :)
It’s close to the coast so it’s kinda windy, and this time it was also snowing. A LOT.
Result: Lots of snow, and it got to you like a homing missile.

Lund is quite an ok city, but waaaaaaaay too many students. Malmö on the other hand is a real shit city in my opinion.

Hi Folks!
What a nice day. First it is announced that there will be new Roxette material this autumn, and just now I have accepted the offer of a job based in Lund. So my departure from the UK to go and live in Sweden is confirmed. My ambition has been realised :-)
I was offered the job almost two weeks ago but since then we have been talking about terms. For example, initially 12 months were proposed but instead they agreed to give me an 18-month contract: that’s two gorgeous Swedish summers for the price of one winter. Result!! Of course the cold winters are nice too but I’m more of a summer person.
I have one month to organise my relocation, which will be exciting I’m sure. There are sure to be fun times ahead. Thanks Ally for the links you sent me. If anyone else has advice for me then it will be very welcome: either post here or you can e-mail me using the address in my profile.
Best wishes from Rich ;-)

Rich have you found somewhere to stay, and I was just wondering are you planning on moving everything you own over with you and just the basics until you are settled...

Hi. Hope the fan meeting was fun Ally. Sorry I couldn’t make it in the end. Things have been rather busy this end! Accommodation in Lund has been sorted for me by my employers. I waited until it was guaranteed before I accepted the job as I understand that it’s quite hard to find somewhere to stay there. I won’t take all my stuff but I’ll take quite a lot of things. I’ll look into finding a courier soon. I booked my one-way flight today and found out that I’m involved with a 10-day experiment in the USA at the end of May. Exciting times! Will have to check out the London bar once I get to Lund. Thanks for the tip! All the best, Rich ;-)

LOL. Friday 28th April. Gives me the weekend to settle in and go shopping before I start work. Quite exciting but scarey too!! How much stuff can I carry on one flight? And the language. Help! All the best, Rich ;-)

Hi Folks,
I don’t start many threads, but I received some exciting news yesterday so here goes...
In March I will attend an interview for a job in Lund. It has been my intention and my dream for some years now to find employment in Spain or Sweden, and now it seems that I am one step closer. The interview will be my fifth trip to Sweden... but the first one that is not Roxette-related!!
Would anyone like to tell me something about Lund, about the south of Sweden or about the east of Denmark? Any good day trips? And what would it be like for a foreigner to live there? Of course I may not get the job but at the very least I’ll have a few days in the area after the interview... and I’m up for having a good time!!
Best wishes from Rich ;-)
