Catnip

(The crushing pills and putting it into their food made me think of this)
Do you ever give your cat Catnip? My MOTHER regularly drugss our 8 cats. And they each go on an amazing high *omg* The one acting stranger than the other. It cracks me up i will admit, but..
*getting all serious now*
I often wonder if it is ethical to drug your cat this way?? Or am i being a wee bit sensitive and silly now?

Well try have a joint first & then give the cat some drugs... that’ll be quite a bonding experience for you & the cats!!

Dont joke purps!! My mom HAS got a dagga plant at the back of the house. Once my dad called the police out cuz of a burglary and my mom was shouting “trek die plant uit trek die plant uit!!” LOLZ

@TinyBubbles
Now I have to ask: What on earth does your mother do with a dagga plant? If it was yours, it would have been another story ;)
Also, I think it’s fun to watch cats do funny stuff. We used to stick masking tape under my friend’s cat’s paws. That is quite funny to see!
As for drugging them, if they like it, why not??

drugging cats?? omg, what are people on here?? If it was for medical reasons, it wold be different. But for the fun of it, or just to “relax” them? No way! Drugs has influence on humans, so does it on animals. And it isn’t good, it stressed the body and organs for sure. I think it’s definately NOT ethical to do.
But it was funny the time I saw my grandparents old cat, after the vet had given it narcosis to operate on it, he had to give it the same amount as a full blood horse. Man did that car waggle and roll on the floor liek the worst drunk afterwards, hehe.

Catnip is something that a cat should have / be around in MODERATION. That has the potential of harming said animal. But not all cats are the same. My ex-housemate’s girlfriend had bought my cat a ball full of ’nip as a “housewarming” gift. Didn’t change his behaviour in the least.
He’s still a spazztic weenie. ;o)

Bubbles... I think you should ask your mom if she’s an old hippie!!
TinyBubbles said on January 16, 2006 13:25:
I need not ask. I know so :P
But to get back to the real topic... It is a bit unethical to give your cat this plant, isn’t it?
coyboyusa said on January 16, 2006 16:36:
ugh the amount of misinformation..catnip is a natural herb, people used to drink it in tea form it is a mild sedative and is very beneficial for digestion in cats in small amounts...on a sad note my brothers cat was diagnosed with kidney failure last week :(
Queen_Marie said on January 17, 2006 10:13:
It’s just a plant that cats are attracted to. As coyboy said, it helps their digestion. Same thing with grass. It’s a natural laxative for them.

Wonder why our persian cat goes all violent when he’s had the stuff :S
LittleSpooky said on January 17, 2006 22:58:
It does “alter” the moods of some cats. Since mine’s a spazztic little turd to begin with... it doesn’t do much for / against him.
I don’t know about helping a cat’s digestive system, but okey doke.
Queen_Marie said on January 19, 2006 11:11:
Yeah, it’s not bad for them. It just makes them nuzzle everyone and everything. Quite funny really.

well saturday we take my borthers cat for a second opion, I don’t think we’re going to get any different rersults, but I figured she deserves a second look over....I just don’t think it’s going to change the outcome at all :(

My mom says it is to relax them. :|
