Yesterday she was singing live for the first time since she got sick.
Fragile - but still stronger than ever. Marie Fredriksson did yesterday her first performance since she was taken out of the scene by cancer.
- “I feel so well that now I am going to have a big strong (by Swedish standards) beer”, said a satisfied Marie Fredriksson afterwards.
It happened at the gala Kick AIDS Out at Cafe Opera, together with other artists like Ray Davies, Louise Hoffsten or Mario Scocco. Anyway Marie seemed to be the queen of the night.

“I said yes instantly”
- Mats (Ronander) is an old friend and when he asked me about this I said yes instantly because it was for a good cause, says Marie.
She sang a song by Aretha.
Apart from a small performance in Spain last summer, this was the first official one since she got cancer 3 years ago. She had chosen to present a personal version of Aretha Franklin’s “I never loved a man like I love you”.
“I have always loved this song, so it was just right to chose it tonight”, says Marie, that glanced lovingly at his husband who was by the stage.

“It’s so big for us”
I suspect that it was me she had in mind. This is so big for us, that we are back on stage.
Even the conductor was satisfied with the night:
- It was terrific. Marie sang like a little God. Now she is back on track and it feels good, says he as he wipes the sweat from his forehead.

Per Gessle “flew a flag” for an eventual Roxette-comeback when he and Marie were in London last week - it all depends on Marie, he said. Now the first step has been taken.
