It´s a matter of stile and taste... People are different. I myself, for example, prefer a sweet and soft voice like Helena´s than Marie´s R&B screams. I´m not saying that Marie is bad, please, she´s amazing, but all I want to say is that I like more sweet voices like Helena´s, Andrea Corr´s, etc.
And Helena specially is pure seducion with her way t shake her head or look at the camera while singing. I watched the video at soap.com site and saw she singing “Hey Mr Dj”... oh boy, she´s so sweet, with a innocent touch, I wanna hold her... oh boy, I love her... hope to hear more from her from now on.

Well, there has been som complaints in the SOAP-forum about her style and dresses, and I totally disagree. She has a great sophisticated style in my opinion. She is also a good singer, and perhaps the thing that makes the whole SOAP-project more interesting.
And as someone else mentioned, she do really look good too. There has also been som complaints about her moves? I really has nothing to say there, perhaps she just dances in her own way?

There is something wrong with my discman cuz when I listen to songs like “I never quite got over...” or “Brilliant career” I can mainly hear her voice only! He he... While playing the record in my DVD or computer Per takes the main role again!
Discman listening, however, doesn’t bother me at all :)

No one started this thread to compare them, the guy just wanted to point out that he fell in love with the girl (or something like :P).
And as far as I know the so-called quality of Marie Fredriksson as a lead singer does not qualify the rest of singers in the world as crap... I hope you are rational enough as to understand this statement...
If you reject to listen to anything but what you know and think is good, you are going to end up missing out a lot of great stuff in your lives.

yep, I love her too. In “Hey Mr Dj” she´s so ethereal, it´s like a melodic whisper, with so much texture than an average voice.
Guess Per´s right when he said she´s one of the best female voices: I´m completely astonished by how she attacks notes in such a precise pitch. I´m aware this can be achieved with dedicated sound plugins (such as pitch correctors), but anyway, she sings great live too.

I’m not so fond of Helena. Some songs on SOAP make my toes curl in my shoes and switch to the next track a.s.a.p. ’cause it sound so... hmmm... childish? Don’t know how to describe it. Flat and too easy maybe. There’s one exception for me though, Mr.DJ is sung beautiful, fit’s her style/voice.

I find Helena quite alright in most of the songs, but in some I find her voice rather thin and too “whispering”.

about the voice quality of Helena, and her possibility to be a front singer: I think she has the skills to do that.
Any “singer” can do it, independently if you appeal personally to her/his voice, any singer can jump into a stage and do his job. Reaching precise pitch, putting his personal interpretation to a song, etc.
Now, if you want a replacement for Marie Frederiksson, then of course Helena cannot do that. But of course Helena can sing any roxette song in her own terms, cause she and Marie have a similar vocal range (check Ronnie Lane, where Helena reaches really high notes, in case anyone has a doubt concerning her range).
Anyway, great for Per, for he is sorrounded by really talented artists!

I think her voice is kind of pretty, very understated... fits really nicely with Per’s on the quieter songs like “Hey Mr. DJ.” On the other hand, I’d never buy a CD where she took lead vocals, even if Per wrote all of the songs for her. I take Helena as an instrument Per used to create the sound he wanted ;) I don’t really like the way she shakes her head in front of the mike when actually the song is so calm and romantic, as in Hey Mr Dj promo video, but her voice is very creamy and fluffy, it suits current Per’s music great. “I never quite got over...” is fab thanks to her. It’s normal that people compare her to Marie, it’s quite an obvious reaction since Per has started a new international project and even sings a duet with Helena... but I think that Helena’s voice is best suited for Per’s solo projects. Marie has a more dramatic personality, best for broken-hearted ballads or serious stuff, while Per is currently in a very “all is fine” mood in terms of songwriting.
