Earthquake in Pakistan (Asia)

It’s horrible! It’s raining so hard there now that u can’t see more than 3 meters ahead of you. All rescue work has been shattered and the survivers trapped under the debris are fear to drown cuz the water is filling up. This is so horrible and sad. Please pray for all the people who are effected by such a catastrophic event. Even a little honest prayer is like an “AID” or so I believe.

Zee: good to know you’re okay

take care of yourself...zeeshan. pakistan and india are in my prayers tonight....

tam

This is so terrible. I hope everyone who can sends money to the red cross, or some other organisation.

All those people are in my thoughts... I hope everything will be OK.

I won’t pray but I think of these people.. :(

I tell you, Earth is getting rid of us.

really horrible i thnak god we have construction standards here :(

I find this on the news really disturbing and my thoughts go out to all those affected, I know how Asia will get over this.... but I will pray for them!

BTW, anyone know if Bin Laden was in his mountain......

I’ll say my prayers... it’s very sad, we had everything this year tornados, terrorists, earthquakes, tsunamis and viruses, I wonder what will be next.

@Zee what is the condition of city/town you’re living in? I don’t know exactly where you live in Pakistan.

Jude: You been watching George Carlin again? He’s made a reference like that in one of his standup routine’s. Something about “shaking off humans like a bad case of fleas” or something like that.

Coy: And construction standards don’t mean DICK in an earthquake. Salt Lake City has been doing “earthquake proofing” of a lot of the historical buildings around town (Capitol Building, Federal Building, City / County Complex, etc) and all I can say is that I hope to hell they Scotch Guarded the carpets. Cuz when “the big one” hits Salt Lake, Lake Bonneville will make an appearance because all the water from the Great Salt Lake will move east, and all the water that we have below the city in a couple of the sediment beds will rise and the Salt Lake Valley will be flooded by water levels of 3 ft and above.

Hey, Zee!! thank God you’re okay!!! when I heard the news about that, I thought about u! I know you’re living in Pakistan.
What happen there really horrible, I just feel so sad thinking about those ppl. I know how it feels like to lose so many people AT ONCE. thats remind about earthquake in my country that cause tsunami and killed many people.

LS: no, don’t know who that guy is?

I see the news today, and see the desperate cries for help for this area, I’ll donate some cash I have like I did for the other things happened this year, I only wish I could do more.....

Please please donate if you can. Oxfam. Or the Redcross. Every tiny little donation helps. It really does.

http://www.oxfam.co.uk/what_you_can_do/give_to_oxfam/donate/asian_quake....

I’m glad to hear South Africa is not only sending money but they’ve sent medical specialists aswell. Even poor countries are helping. I wish i could go and do something :(

Donation done!

What’s happening with the world :S All these major disasters, one after the other...:S

This is horrifying, I worry a bit that people are going to get donation “burn out” and not dig as deeply as they have for the other disasters (judging by the response of people on this site, though, it seems there’s not much worry of that (-: ).

And coyboy, those great American building standards really kept the Gulf of Mexico from pouring through the retaining walls outside of Louisiana, eh? I hope you’re every bit as safe as you think you are.

I think if everyone could donate just a tiny amount then every little bit DOES help...

spooky construction standards do mean dick when you make you house out fo reinforced concrete and not ssand, there were rows of apatment complexes in pakistan that were sheered in half becuase they were made basically out or mortar. This is exactly like what happened in turkey where construction standards are a joke and so many people died in an earthquake. its sad and peopel shoudl be angry

and roxetet i am talking general basic fundemental contstruction standards, not everything can withstand a natural disaster only morons liek yourself might believe that i know for sure i never said that, the goood thing about natural disasters is they weed out the non productive parts of humanity its survival of the fittest

Obviously coy’s never lived in an area that is prone to earthquakes, floods, tornados, hurricanes or anything else. He’s never walked through a neighbourhood that’s been decimated by one of the above, nor has he had to wonder if a fire was going to break out because gas pipes have ruptured and power lines were downed.

If he had, he’d know that construction standards STILL don’t mean ANYTHING in the face of something like what’s happened in Pakistan, NOLA, or anywhere else for that matter.

heh construction standards? you mean like how american houses are ripped apart in hurricanes coz they are nothing but dry wall??

my thoughts go out to the people of my country. I heard a man sobbing his misery pleading for help on BBC radio and it moved me to tears.

At least the aid is getting through, I’ve been reading in my local paper about the families who have lost loved ones there... it’s so sad

@coyboy: Funny, I have no recollection whatsoever of saying that any human-made structure should be able to withstand a natural disaster... quite the opposite really, after all, I asked you to think about whether the building standards you think so highly of are protecting you as well as you seem to think. I hope they are.

And that’s Dr. Moron to you, buddy.

@coyboy: “The good thing about natural disasters is that they weed out the non-productive parts of society.”

Congratulations - you’ve actually managed to come up with a comment so incredibly retarded that you’ve topped the stupidest thing you’ve ever said in this forum, and that is an incredible, incredible achievement.

Living, breathing proof that the term “Stupid American” is valid in MANY instances.

Omg coy that was a horrible thing to say. Do you really honestly believe that in your heart? Or is it just something you said without thinking.

actually i am just quoting something that has been said alot by alot of world econiomists in regards to the impact natural disasters have on the world in general, nice to see its so easy to push everyones buttons so easily, besides its ignorant stupid humanity in general...not just ” stupid americans” that saeem to have this love of livign in areas that are surrounded by fault lines volcanoes and the like such as stupid japs, stupid chinese, stupid hawaiians, stupid pakistanis, stupid turks and the like so sodd off people

@coyboy: “nice to see its so easy to push everyones buttons”

Aaah, I see, you’re just trying to get attention. That’s a relief, you actually had me wondering whether anyone could be so profoundly brain dead as to advocate for mass genocide via natural disasters, and then to say that economists think it’s a good idea for the global economy if half the workforce of an entire nation is wiped out. That, of course, would be idiotic. And, of course, you didn’t really mean to insult your own country’s people by making that ass-headed remark about people in other countries being stupid for living in areas prone to earthquakes and other natural disasters, because you are certainly aware that most of the people living on the west and southern coasts of the US are doing just that. I’m relieved to see that you’re just attention-starved, not profoundly retarded.

It’s pathetic to use an international tragedy as an opportunity to “push people’s buttons.” If you’re that desperate for attention, get a dog.

@Spooks: Don’t worry, most of us know that the US is a nation of great beauty, great diversity, and great opportunity filled with caring and intelligent people like yourself, and the occasional infantile jackass (we’ve got our share of ’em up here in Canada too... not as head of state, mind you... (-; ).

@coyboy: “not just ” stupid americans” that saeem to have this love of livign in areas that are surrounded by fault lines volcanoes and the like such as stupid japs, stupid chinese, stupid hawaiians..”

(Psst... Hawaii is a state! Yeah, it happened back in 1959... just trying to spare you further embarrassment, I know you’re still recovering from that whole “I saw Madonna’s new not-yet-recorded video and it sucks” thing...)

I find it interesting that so far India has donated the most aid. I find it even more interesting that some big big european countries have to date not given a cent.

I’ve heard that aid was offered but not accepted.

Do you mean the aid from India or other? Not accepting would just be insane.

no, from other countries...I could be wrong tho.

The UK gave quite a lot....

I don’t think it was that per se, however I wouldn’t be surprised if it was “man-made” versus “nature-made”. Not with all the b.s. goin on right now involving that region plus those wanting control over oil....

lawyer when the fuck are you gona grow up!?

Another thing, I know people who are working there you moron and I know that the money that’s being received here is not being spent on any stupid politicians. You are just upset becuase President Musharraf has your bloody islamabadi fucking stupid mornon assfucker politician’s testicles squeezed so hard they can’t feast on that money you punjabi bharway!

You are from Islamabad right? go to hell you sick low lame pathetic asshole! You obviously have no fucking idea how the work’s being carried how and how the relief effort is being carried out. You sit in your fucking warm homes in Islamabad, shoving peanutes up your ass and then go use internet, read some stupid biased websites and then come here sharing this oh-so-very-useful-information. I hope if we have a hydrogen bomb, someone fires it up in your ass so you could get your smelly ass to Muzaffarabad, Balakot, Neelam Wadi and see how the work’s being done and how hard it is to get all that done. You pathetic twit, keep your doodie mouth shut!

Pakistan accepted the aid from India chutiyay! They just didn’t allow any troopes inside the border cuz it’s simply not needed.

Alrighty, then. Looks like this thread just hit grey...

I found out at work we raised £300 for the appeal, so with being off I donated something myself yesterday!

Zee: Hey hey hey... I understand you’re upset... *grabs da Zee in a bear hug* but you’re gonna get your head knocked in by a Mod if you keep cussin like that.

And I like you WAAAAY too much to let that happen. Besides... if you’re banned, how am I supposed to come work for you if I can’t find you? ;o)

Oooooo Zee that be a baaaaaaad word ;D

I counted 17 bad words hahaha. How many did you all count??

Lets all breathe into my lil brown bag.. breathe in breath out. (again..sorry about the garlic)

That’s great ally!!
