Marie's "Mother": lyrics meaning

Hello everyone!

I recently got to bought the “The Change” album (I know, kinda late ...) and I’m now listening to it paying attention to the lyrics. The album is brillant, some lyrics are shocking because of the depth of the emotions they transmit and some songs are really great.

The thing I don’t understand is the meaning of the song “Mother”. It’s been written by Micke, and it’s like a person who has an absent mother and it’s asking what would be when that mother is dead. Is it made up? Does it hide any meaning? Does it talk about Marie, Marie’s mom, Josefin? What do you think about it all?

Maybe its what he or she feel that situtation and but beatyfull song i love it very mucht, every time i singing at home that song when i´m home.Hwo knows what is songwriter head and what they feel.

Whenever I listen to Mother, I always see it from Marie’s point of view. I know, this song is written by Micke, but in my mind it’s the story about Marie and her mum. And I think in some way it makes sense...

Yeah, I also think the song is written to be about Marie and her mother’s relationship...But since we really don’t “know” who or what her mother is like, it’s quite a puzzle...However, it seems to me they have had a somewhat stormy relationship.

Well, I don’t know about her relationship with her mum, but the lyrics are way too rude to me to be a song to her mum... that’s why I posted the message here, I don’t make up my mind...

Great song after all!

I’ll second the great song thing!
