Dear roxers!
I was seeing the Salvation video and i noticed how stupid and ridiculous was produced !
It would had been an huge success , if the stupid of the producer who had made that video wouldn´t putted Per and Marie holding a pumpkin and fish!!! That´s so ridiculous !
A videoclip counts alot for a good song to be released as a single , but unfortunally was directed by anton corbijn instead of wonderful video directors like Greg masuak from (you don´t understand me!) ; jonas akerlund ; jesper hiro (Real sugar , Milk & toast & honey!) ;wayne isham (spending my time ,church of your heart...) ;michael geoghegan ; matt murray; anders skog and doug freel.... Now i ask to myself and to yourselves where are they?
Roxette need you guys!
Not wimps!

One of the best and thoughtful Roxette video ever! I’m very glad it was made by Anton.
Is it so hard to understand what’s the meaning of pumpkin and fish? Actually you’d know it!

For me, after watching it right now, this is one of the most arty videos ever made by Roxette. It is quite a great metaphor, and watching a vid that is not incredibly photographed crap once in a while may not hurt. This vid tells a good story, a nice story.
The whole thing is shot just like a vacation home video that any couple could take. The folks go to Italy for the holiday (It is the Med, yes... I’d say it’s the Ligurian coast in western Italy).
What I understand is that they are trying to convey that the most ordinary can be beautiful too in a spiritual manner, and that you can find salvation with someone that is not Miss Universe or not even pretty. They look like regular people, and the vid is bad photographed, as I said, like in a home vid (good that they didn’t use any zooms! :D)
The doors for me represent phases of life that you pass, and they always find each other, their mutual salvation.
The pumkins I don’t know what they may mean but the fish is a clear call to the miracle of the fish and the breads by Jesus, as explained in the Bible.

Gorgeous video!! One is not supposed to understand every single detail - that’s the art of this video.

I love that video, cos show us a non traditional Roxette image and also the song its not the tipical Rox ballad, a beautiful song but not that strong for a single

Oh i LOVE this video... Corbijn is truly talented! It’s my second favourite to UDST - both unappreciated!

I HATE having to read comments that pull down peoples art!
WHY can’t people just accept it as it is?
It was their vision, so we should not have any valid comments at all because that is how it was created...
People never seem to pull down the mona lisa etc etc... that is no different - at the end of the day opinions are like assholes - everyone has got one...
It doesn’t matter to me - it is art.
It’s like telling someone how to dress or how to wear their hair - life’s too short lol.
Why not be creative yourself instead and show us how talented YOU are?
Be more creative, not destructive!

the fact that I don’t understand the video is what makes it so appealing. We don’t need to have the obvious rubbish thrown in our faces - watch MTV for that American/ pseudo Amercian rubbish... Salvation is about something diffeerent- I don’t know what, I don’t have the answer - but it’s great.

In my opinion, it’s one of the most original videos of Roxette. I like it... It’s funny, colourful and different.
coyboyusa said on September 16, 2005 20:27:
i dont recall per and marie ever saying that the video concept was their idea, it was the directors, and even per passed comments to the effect that slavation suffered from poor promotion and a rather lacking video, thats the joy of “art” everyone is open to criticize it, I think the video is terds you think its roses, but the general public also thought it was terds otherwise the song would have faired better

the revolving doors are perfect..
bad photographed–a little too much but good way for showing that miracle exist in ordinary life ..

This again is an OLD topic, have a route through and see all of the comments. From my POV I think that it is an excellent video. It has echoes of Talented Mr Ripley when on the beach (which looks like the Med), just because the video doesn’t show someone offering someone else some Salvation in a traditional manner, it doesn’t mean that the video isn’t effective.
You are right that a video is important in ’selling’ a song, but not as much as promotion of the song itself on radio and in the relevant media...something with we all know Roxette hasn’t had for ages.
Try not to think too literally about the video - enjoy the colour, enjoy the way marie sings the song, enjoy the energy between marie and per and the dancers in the video, enjoy the fact that there are fruit and fish in the video - enjoy the video because it IS so different...you may then realise that you think that it IS something special.
You may not, but that’s my honest POV.
