Beautiful Things- appreciation.

I havent listened to any Roxette for quite a while, so this afternoon i am sitting to my entire collection on shuffle.
Beautiful Things is playing now, which has always been one of my favourites, but everytime i listen to it I realise just how great it is. Its a pity it seems so underrated by many Rox fans aswell. Per’s lyrics are more thoughtful and meaningful than they normally are, Marie’s voice is on top form, and the melody she wrote (especially the chorus) is fantastic

Also Breathe is very cool from the “last songs list”
I love Beautiful Things. Nice melody, music, everything is good in that song. I like both their voices in the chorus too.

True, I’m not a big fan of My World, My love, My life but all their other album closers have been fantastic. I adore “Breathe” aswell. It should have been the first single from TBH

I think it’s one of Marie’s best vocals on Breathe. Every word is so clear, a bit like Everyday really.
I do like My World My Love My Life to though. Especially the “high” bit towards the end!

Ooooh, “Every day”, thats another one i love. You dont happen to like “See me” aswell do you?

They wasted the song in the record, the demo was so much better!
Strings get boring after a while, especially when the arrangements are so predictable as in Roxette ballads.
ncurran said on August 5, 2005 08:30:
I disagree Santi, i dont really like the demo....the final version suits the song much better and is really beautiful
pwbbounce (moderator) said on August 5, 2005 08:37:
Yes Neil, I do love See Me!!! Not as good as Everyday though!

I want to hear Per’s version, with his music. I know he recorded one for The World.
pwbbounce (moderator) said on August 5, 2005 09:09:
I’ve never heard the demo version of Beautiful Things. Has anyone got it they could send it to me on Email? I’d love to hear it!
Santi said on August 5, 2005 09:13:
@Neil: You may say I am dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope some day you’ll join us and the world will live as one :) ... Sorry, just kidding! :D
You may disagree, of course, but I’m not the only who thinks like this. At least is not the most boring song in the album... that honour belongs to “I was so lucky”... *yawn*...
ncurran said on August 5, 2005 09:48:
Well i agree about “I was so lucky”...its all a bit too cringeworthy and cheesy for me, especially the sax solo
pwbbounce (moderator) said on August 5, 2005 09:51:
The Sax solo spoils it for me to. Plus the lyrics are quite happy, but Maries tone in her voice is like its a sad song.

I don’t think there was a proper recording by Per. He said he was stuck with the music and gave the song to Marie – who came up with a brilliant chorus.

Beautiful Things is one of the best songs from Have A Nice Day, in my opinion :)

Beautiful Things - This song is one of the reasons, why I am a Roxette-Fan. It gives me very, very much. cheers !!!

One song that means the world to me ... both lyrically and musicallywise ... and it can be in both demo or album version for me the feeling remains the same ... if in the album version the strings make u feel in touch with your saddest feelings the demo actually puts me in touch with this sense of encouragment of trying to seek for a solution for all these beautiful things that are broken inside of us ... if you listen to the guitar part in the demo that is when I get that touch very deeply ..besides there is something so “beatle-ish” about this song that makes it even more outstanding ... I think of “Let It Be” when BT pop into my head.

perhaps my fave Rox songe ever.....and in my Top 10 all-time fave songs. Marie’s vocals and Synko’s strings are just breath-taking. A sad song, yet it soars..............any defies anyone who writes them off as poor lyric-writers. Shouldabeenasingle along with COY!

Demo and album version are very different and i love both of them equally. It’s one of the best songs on HAND and one of my rox favourites. The chorus is just fascinating... *realizes the last time of listening to HAND was months ago and runs for the cd*

Beautiful Things is in my all time top 3 songs. It’s truly wonderful and the muscial progression, where the instruments join the song sequentially, is simply marvellous.

I don’t know fans who underate this song. It fabolous, great, awesome and so on... Well I get used to that every last song from every Rox album is Perfect (or almost perfect):
So far away
Listen To Your Heart
Perfect Day
Queen of Rain
Go to Sleep
I don’t wanna get hurt
Beutiful things
My world, my love, my life...
