Tancredo apparently occupies the same mental plane as my own representative, cerebral titan Sheila Jackson Lee, a Democradolescent. In the USA, the Democrats automatically oppose Bush regardless of what he does, thus he might as well do what he considers correct. If the president were currently Gore or Kerry, and were doing EXACTLY the same things as Bush, the Democrats would all be spread-eagle naked on the 50-yard-line at halftime to support him, and beg that he do anything he please.
We shall see if that sort of thing happens in the UK in short time. Everyone is angry and united in spirit over the bombings.... but even as the smoke was dissipating from the very first tube blast, Blair’s political opponents were formulating schemes for discrediting him, and likely will be abetted in time by a leftist media. The problem with that, is that they generally must hope at some level that bad things ensue, more bombings and death, because that will make Blair look bad. They’re setting themselve up to achieve political success only if bad things happen to their nation, their citizens, their soldiers. Democrats tisk-tisk about every American soldier killed in Afghanistan or Iraq, but they’re secretly applauding whenever that happens, because it’ll be bad for Bush.
