Now that the All-Star break approaches in the baseball season... :D
If you had to select the best musicians for making an All-Star band who would play what?
- Female Lead Singer:
- Male Lead Singer:
- Lead guitar player:
- Rhythm guitar player:
- Bass player:
- Drummer:
- Keyboard player:
- Percussionist:
- Backing vocals (can be lead singers of any band):
- Miscellaneous instruments (if needed):
Could you say the name of the musician, the band and a song where we can appreciate her/his craft?
Also would be nice a list for a POP-band (whatever you think that pop is) and a ROCK-band (whatever you reckon that rock is).
If you can not make up your minds in selecting only 1 musician per post, you can propose 2, but in the whole All-Star band should not be more than 3 components of the same band :P

This is a terrific question. And may we add:
Lyrics and music composer: Per Gessle
Few have the ability to consistently turn out, over the course of years, so many works of such consistent quality. What other pop/rock composer can you name, who could seamlessly work the expressions “answering machine” and “tears of a clown” (referring to another work) into a truly magnificent, melodious song (Spending My Time) ?
Any posited all-star line-up is subject to the matter of “chemistry.” Lennon and McCartney produced great music by competing with each other, egging each other on. The now-defunct band Talking Heads produced some terrific pop/rock/funk music with intelligent lyrics and a lead singer (David Byrne) who constantly appeared to be on the verge of a major break-through, or a nervous break-down, or both.... see the film “Stop Making Sense.”
Joe Satriani and Jeff Beck both turned out great guitar-only stuff – but could they function as mere lead guitarists for a vocals group? And George Harrison, a major guitar player, said he modeled his work after Chet Atkins, whose “Yankee Doodle Dixie” was so intricate that it practically could not be reproduced by any other guitar player.
