Hello, you (d*mned) FOOL

What experiences have you had, recommending Roxette to other people who’ve previously had no knowledge of their music?
I told one friend of mine, an opera fan aged 62, to listen to a few Roxette CDs I loaned him. Days later, he expressed amazement for Per Gessle’s lyrical abilities, saying the Roxette songs were among the highest quality pop lyrics he’d ever heard.
At the office last week, a good friend asked if I had any music to which she could listen, and I loaned her Crash! Boom! Bang! Next day, she returned the CD, advising she had “forced” herself to listen to it twice. “Except for that crashing guitars thing, this has GOT to be the SAPPIEST stuff I’ve EVER heard in my life!” She then advised that she is heavily into country music (which, in the US these days, is largely put out by failed rock artists who suddenly developed country accents and started excreting twangy over-produced moron tunes).
She’s still my friend and I like her, but I won’t ever again encounter her without thinking, Hello you fool.

Finally a “normal” topic from you!
Everybody is entitled to like the music he /she likes, but of course it is nice if your friends also like Roxette.
