Some sort of special release would be great, but its gotta be something for the fans. Remastered versions of the old albums, with a bonus disc of unreleased demo’s, mixes and vids, or something like that.
I’d even be happy with a *decent* 2 DVD release with good quality clips (not like the crap that was on AVEM) on disc1; and disc2 ReallyRoxette, making of joyride, some promo interviews from some/all of the albums, some live tracks, a picture slideshow thingy and a comprehensive discography. Or is that asking too much?!
Oh and a release of Live-ISM and Crash!Boom!Live! on DVD :-D
ChrisWilliams said on May 28, 2005 15:27:
Write out exactly what you’d want on a 2DVD release, and maybe EMI will start planning something.

If EMI were to re-release the albums, which bonus tracks would you include? Here are some ideas up to and including Crash! Boom! Bang!. Anyone want to contribute ideas for Have A Nice Day and Room Service?
- Pearls Of Passion
Pearls Of Passion
It Must Have Been Love [Christmas For The Broken-Hearted]
Turn To Me
-Look Sharp!
Silver Blue
It Must Have Been Love [From the Pretty Woman Soundtrack]
- Joyride
Come Back [Before You Leave]
How Do You Do!
Queen Of Rain
Fingertips ’93
Almost Unreal
- Crash! Boom! Bang!
June Afternoon

I also think EMI should re-release all albums from Look Sharp!- Crash!Boom!Bang!; with better sound and some nice extra tracks ( demos, unreleased songs if there are any etc etc). Theres the Rox-box; all thoose albums plus one live cd from the Room Service tour. Do you like these ideas, Per?? ;)
Santi said on May 30, 2005 18:49:
I don’t know if Per likes it but I don’t. And I guess most people here who are not utterly rich won’t like it either. If they want to remaster things, ok, do it, but keep it separate from any “Box with extras” because we are more than sick and tired of having to buy the same version of It Must Have Been Love 7 times to get some extra unreleased song.
If Roxette does that, which is very unfair for people who has been following them for their whole careers, I will probably pirate the unreleased songs.
I think that releasing so many compilations shows very little respect for their followers, who happen to be also the ones who gave their money for them to buy their Ferraris...
And I agree with Ted. For releasing that, they’d better keep the chance of releasing something worth for the 25th Anniversary.
ChrisWilliams said on May 30, 2005 22:04:
Speaking for myself, I find that album re-releases aren’t necessarily meant to include loads of rarities and demos: Moreso, they should have fresh artwork and sound quality that brings them into line with the albums of today.
Here’s what Swedish company 802 did with ABBA’s albums:
http://www.802.com/projekt/files/abba_remas.asp
Here’s what I’d like EMI to do with Roxette’s material:
- June 2006:
3CD RoxBox featuring unreleased tracks, demos, interviews and popular hits. Also includes DVD consisting of 1 concert and a 20th Anniversary documentary.
- November 2007:
Original albums re-released, Look Sharp! to Room Service. Remastered, with bonus tracks in chronological order. Original artwork following a similar theme. Limited boxed edition of 5000 copies.
- February 2008:
A 2CD package containing all singles released by Roxette.
- May 2008:
DVD collection containing all videos made by the band. Remastered from original tapes, in synchronisation with 24-bit remastered sound.
- - - -
Have a moan about those ideas ;-)

Well we will see.....
Staffany said on May 31, 2005 08:21:
Only “Look Sharp!” and “Joyride” need to be remastered. It would be a nice idea. If you compare the sound of those CD albums with the most recent releases (“Have A Nice Day” and “Romm Service”) you can hear a big difference. There’s no need to reissue the latest ones (HAND & RS), because the sound of those can’t be improved even more. They are recent recordings, and the best technology was used in the recording process. A repackage of those albums would be unnecesary, just to earn money. Some bonus tracks can be included (but not those tracks already available on “Tourism”, like “Come Back (Before You Leave)” and “Silver Blue”).
The DVD collection containing all the video clips was already released in 2001 (“All Videos Ever Made And More”), and the latest videos were included on “The Ballad and Pop Hits” DVD. A new DVD would be a wrong idea, and nobody would buy it.
A double CD containing all the singles? Well, not all the singles were included on “The Ballad Hits” and “The Pop Hits”. Some were left, like “Fireworks”, “She Doesn’t Live Here Anymore” or the early singles from “Pearls Of Passion”. But a new 2-CD compilation only conceived to include those songs is not a good idea. We already have “TBH” and “TPH”, we don’t need a new compilation. If you wanna listen to all the singles in chronologycal order, burn a double CD yourself, and save money.
chrisjankunas said on May 31, 2005 09:16:

Maybe just a new album? With a couple of gigs...
I haven’t got any wishes which go further...
ChrisWilliams said on June 1, 2005 17:51:
As I tried to explain, the reason behind re-releasing the albums wouldn’t be just a case of sound quality. It’d be to upgrade the entire Roxette catalogue, instead of it looking dated. Notably, the Joyride and Crash! Boom! Bang! album designs are pretty awful, and could really benefit from a few changes.
The box set of Marie’s albums by EMI/Capitol is a good case in point: The idea behind that set was to collect together almost everything Marie has done as a solo artist. Surely the same could be done to Roxette’s albums.
Speaking as a more recent fan, I personally found it difficult to obtain Roxette’s recordings easily, for number of reasons, mainly:
01. The album designs are dated, so CD stores aren’t generally interested in having them on their shelves knowing the young pop fans won’t take any notice of them.
02. Things like Fingertips ’93 has never been easy to get hold of, and nor will the “left overs” (She Doesn’t Live Here Anymore/I Don’t Want To Get Hurt) from the now-deleted DBU-GTTC.
* *
A 2CD set containing Roxette’s singles probably will be released in a few years - It’s the norm that an artist will release a “greatest hits” collection at least every 7 years - I just think a double album would be more effective that 2 separate CDs. In the UK, it’s easy to get The Ballad Hits, while The Pop Hits is generally unavailable in most shops. A double CD would rectify this.
The DVD containing the videos would follow a similiar name and design to the 2CD, just like The Ballad & Pop Hits, but with a better design and quality.
* *
There’s no point fooling ourselves into thinking that EMI/Capitol release stuff aimed at fans - They wouldn’t make money out of Roxette if they did. All I’m suggesting is that they do to Roxette what Universal/Polar did to ABBA: Upgrade the catalogue to a better standard, and make it easier to obtain the group’s entire collection of work.
GERMANrosario said on June 1, 2005 18:04:
no, please, another ballads in Spanish not!!!!!!, you they are forgetting something very important when they mention his desires, roxette anywhere in the world became because their songs extended the borders of Sweden, then because to prevail to fans of sudamerica, Africa, the United States, of being able to see roxette of tour again, roxette is not single for Sweden, roxette is for everybody!!!!!
PS: for next dvd they could put subtitles in Spanish

Breathe8 said on June 2, 2005 06:23:
Or Greatest hits yes but only with two or three new songs. Better than nothing. I think they have a new songs from 2002 yet.
ncurran said on June 2, 2005 08:46:
I would never buy another Greatest Hits by Roxette. I dont care whether my collection is complete or not. And Chris, yes many artists do release a new GH every 7-10 years or so, but normally they have a few new albums in between.
ChrisWilliams said on June 2, 2005 13:00:
Speaking for myself (again) on this losing battle, I’d say that compilation albums are far more common than you perceive. In particular, many of the artists I like (Cyndi Lauper, Ace of Base and especially ABBA) have and continue to release compilations despite the lack of a new studio album.
This is the ideal catalogue, as far as I’m concerned:
* All the original studio albums
* a 2CD set containing all the singles
* 1 CD of the biggest hits
* 1 cheap CD
* A box set containing the rarities and oddities
You can’t have all the nice, fan-stuff without conquering the general public. There’s *no way* The Ballad Hits would have hit #11 in the UK had it only been bought by us fans!
Without EMI/Capitol taking the basic steps I’ve pointed out, there won’t be a great interest in Roxette in the future. They realise this, ’cause they’ve done almost exactly that to Marie’s solo work and Gyllene Tider’s career!
Staffany said on June 4, 2005 21:30:
ChrisWilliams:
You said Crash! Boom! Bang and Joyride designs are awful. But in my opinion you can’t change them. What would you change? The front picture? The types? You can’t. It’s part of their own identity. CBB without the black/white squares or the red/orange big letters is not CBB. They must be recognisable from the artwork.
“All I’m suggesting is that they do to Roxette what Universal/Polar did to ABBA: Upgrade the catalogue to a better standard, and make it easier to obtain the group’s entire collection of work”
ABBA case is not like Roxette’s. ABBA split up in 1982, and most of the material was unavailable for many years (the 80’s and early 90’s). All the ABBA catalogue was on vinyl, there was only a few releases on CD (and bad done). It’s sensible Universal had released everything on CD again, because it was necessary. But Roxette material is easily available nowadays, and on CD. Look on eBay or online stores. Loads of Look Sharp!, Joyride, CBB, Have A Nice Day, Room Service. Even the CD singles, with all the B-sides and remixes are widely available. ABBA’s B-sides were only released on the 7” singles and not included as bonus tracks on the first CD-albums. It’s not the same case. No need to re-release all the Roxette stuff, at least for now.
On the other hand, I’m not friend of changing the design of classic albums. I never liked what Universal did to ABBA albums. They changed the typography and placed the title in a different way. But it woulnd’t work in the Roxette albums. As i said before, other types wouldn’t fit the CBB, Joyride or HAND artworks.
“This is the ideal catalogue, as far as I’m concerned:
* All the original studio albums –> they all are more or less easy to get.
* A 2CD set containing all the singles –> the biggest singles were collected on “The Ballad Hits” and “The Pop Hits”. As there is not new material to be included, a new compilation would be pretty unneccesary and nobody would buy it.
* The DVD containing the videos would follow a similiar name and design to the 2CD –> same as above
* 1 CD of the biggest hits –> same as above
“In particular, many of the artists I like, especially ABBA, have and continue to release compilations despite the lack of a new studio album”
Yes, Universal releases almost a new compilation every year, containing always the same songs (Dancing Queen, The Name of The Game, Fernando, The Winner Takes It All, Fernando) but in different order. Some examples are “The Name Of The Game”, “The Story of ABBA”, “On And On And On”, “Master Series” and now “ABBA 18 Hits”. If you read the ABBA site forum, you’ll see all the people is tired of those repackaged of old material and begging for no more dull compilations. I’m glad it doesn’t happen to Roxette.
Roxette-atic said on June 4, 2005 22:58:
Yea, maybe we can all do without more compilations, but I would still like the albums Look Sharp!- Crash! Boom! Bang! to be remastered and re-relased!. The sound on the original albums sounds so poor nowdays..

25 is a really difficult to achieve number! Who celebrates 20, celebrates also 21, 22, 23... And on the other hand, people who are not “fans” won’t care if it’s next year or in 6 years, they have already lost their commercial trail as you can see by the sales of the last albums.
