Asking for advice on Brainpool

Hi guys!

This topic has nothing to do with Rox, but with a related group, Brainpool.
As you may have read on the news section, Christoffer Lundquist’s group is releasing a greatest hits album, and I would like to know how does this group sound.
I attended the CBB tour, but, to tell you the truth, I don’t remember the supporting act. So, does their music have something in common with Roxette? Any Rox flavour?
Thanx for your help!

Hi

Brainpool is f*cking fantastic... the former lead singer has a voice very similar to Pers.
Their songs are more ROCK N ROLL than Roxette´s... but they have that sweet pop stile in some of their songs. Most of the time they´re all very fast, cool and catchy songs.
Brainpool lost its magic after Janne Kask (the former singer) left the band, but the songs before that are AMAZING.

It was easy to find Brainpool songs on Kazaa... you should start with:

“Invisible To Her”, “Mr Johnson Cries”, “That´s My Charm”, “Come Back” and “We´re Sorry”.

Good luck... and go for it... you won´t regret it if you like good power pop.

yes they are great, I cannot say I don’t like the band without Kask, it’s just different, but nothing can go wrong with such great musicians ;)

I recommend you get hold of the Greatest Hits as it includes a bit of everything :)

its really intelligent punk pop, not crap like Good Charlotte or anything.

Well, the above goes for the Kask days anyways.

The band have always been good musically, even in those days.

Now, post Kask they have made two Albums ’You are here’ and ’Junk’

I think post kask is better. There is much more musical depth, better production. The sound is more diverse, more electronic in some places, but still guitar rock. In places influenced by New ORder, Bowie, The Who and even the Floyd.

Junk, being a rock opera kind of mocks every rock opera that has gone before. Its brilliantly done though.

If I were you, I’d first check out the greatest hits. then go for the post-kask stuff

oam.

thanx for the advice guys! With such critics I’m willing to listen to them. I’ll try to find the songs you LoneGunman indicated above.

See ya later!

Hi

As Judith said, Brainpool without Janne Kask is simply a different band... you don´t get power pop songs as “In A Box” or “Let´s Get Lucky In Kentucky” in albuns like “You Are Here” and “Junk” (post Kask)... and those songs with amazing catchy chorus and crazy punk guitars was everything in the band for me. That´s why I don´t like Brainpool after Janne Kask... they don´t sound like a power pop band... they try to sound like U2. But still, a great band.

By the way, does anyone here listened to Janne Kask solo material ? I just love his album “Wrestling My Case” and “Summer Is Here EP”... if someone has these kyrics, let me know.

Thanks
LoneGunman

I wouldn’t say they try to be U2.. I don’t like U2 and then I wouldn’t like Brainpool either ;)

I heard Janne’s work a couple of tames (tape..) but don’t have the tracks anymore. I guess it’s rather difficult to get hold of those now :S

They do not sound remotely like U2

ick so i should eb glad i dontr have any of their albums after soda i hate when bands want to sound like aq copy cat of antoehr established band

:o

My CD arrived _today_ (it’s actually out tomorrow! - CDON *IS* fast) but i’ll have to wait until I’m back in Austria to listen to it :O I’m sure it will be superb anyway :)

Wow, the Greatest Hits is really good. There are all the songs you’d expect plus some new ones, 8 demos and 8 videos. Can’t say fairer than that. Neat! All the best, Rich ;-)

has anyone got their pictures? both old pic or new pic when all 4 of them together. I would like to see and I like album stay free a lot, really.
