Bad moon

I have just heared Bad moon demo of Marie, dated 1997, this song is really amazing, even that demo sounds really great. I wonder why this song was not included in any album of Roxette ....... ????

Well it’s on The Change, so at least it made it onto one album! It would have made a good Rox song, but everyone knows Per does not like to share songwriting privileges!!!

...and after skipping repeated times “Waiting for the rain” and “Little girl” (Marie’s only 100% authored Roxette songs) I am more than happy that Per doesn’t. :)

Oups, gotcha!!
But what’s about ’Cry’, i think it is one of the best songs of Look Sharp!, as ’watercolour in the rain’ in Joyride, ’Go to Sleep’ in ’Crash Boom Bang!’, in fact ’Waiting for the rain’ and ’beautiful things’ are the best songs of HAND........

Santi: high five!

i love waiting for the rain . has a classic feel.

Hello everyone:

Could someone please tellme what´s the difference between Bad moon (demo) and the song Bad Moon in the Change?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe Per deliberatly encourages Marie songs he knows are crummy to be on the albums, so few people will press for more of her songs to be included in future releases :P
(though ’waiting for the rain’ has grown on me)

Marie is a much better songwriter in my opinon...Per is great at 3 min power pop...Marie on the other hand has a real emotive feel to her writing. I listened to ’Den Standiga Resan’ the other night and realised what a fantastic album that is sooooooo much better than any Roxette album. Oh and to stay on topic Bad Moon should have been on a roxette album...I also think except for Waiting for the rain (very average song) Marie’s contributions to Roxette have been great.

I’m extremely happy Waiting For The Rain and Beautiful Things became rox songs. They are brilliant!

@snowman Album version of Bas Moon is based on the demo, only the chorus was newly recorded and arrangement slightly changed. (according to my ears :))

Marie’s style is not really Roxette’s style and that’s quite good. Unfortunately Per decided for the worst possible production with Beautiful things.

I think Bad Moon could have easily been a Roxette song, compared to other songs that made it on albums, for example Vulnerable or It takes you no time to get here..

Bad Moon is one of my favoriets from marie’s solo album. =)

Yay the anti-Marie squad is back!!! Hmm, well I really like Waiting for the Rain. Little Girl probably would have fit better on The Change but it’s an ok song. Can’t tell you how many Per songs I have skipped over the years...don’t even start me on Make My Head Go Pop....*cringes*

I wonder why all demo’s Per ever made were never released on a Roxette or GT album :P

I thought all the songs on that bootleg of Marie songs that came out a while ago (did anyone ever find out where that came from???) sounded like they would fit on a Rox album. All I Ever Wanted was a typical Roxish ballad I thought. Too bad all those songs got scrapped (except Bad Moon) because I thought that bootleg would have been a great album with a few more tracks. Not to start another “The Change” war, but I think an album with those songs would have been a lot more successful and popular with fans, not to mention radio friendly.

would be great to have a 50/50 album just marie and per working on a little gem togeather by themselves :-D . I believe they can do it.

My all time ever Roxette song is, Watercolours in the Rain. Well done Marie!!! :-)

Anyway, does anyone dislike this song? is it not enough good? is it too ’serious’ music to fit in a Roxette album?
I am not asking for other Marie’s songs... according to me, Bad moon is a song with a strong and intimate feeling!

I’ve never heard any of us horrid nasty per lovers critising ’bad moon’

Not hard to understand why - because it’s a good song :)
(as opposesd to ’Little *milk and toast and honey gone very wrong* Girl’)

Bad Moon is a good song, would have made a great single release.... but Per’s still a better song writer...

LOL Zargo, Little Girl isn’t the best song in the world but it’s not *that* bad.

I don’t think it’s fair to judge Marie’s songwriting on her English songs anyway, it’s her Swedish music that kicks ass. And once again, it’s a matter of taste and it’s really REALLY mega super lame-ass utterly stupid to try to compare Marie and Per’s music because they are two different styles. Per is NOT a *better* songwriter, he’s just different and if you like catchy pop tunes and ballads, he’s your man. If you like deeper, more soulful music then it’s Marie all the way.

I agree with sparvogamarie, both per and marie are excellent songwriters.

yes, There are another sample of a Marie’s good song not included in any Roxette album:
’Always the last to know’, i love this song. Specially the sweden version: ’Det Som Var Nu’. Highly recommended :)

Despite styles, and as much as most of you like to point out when it comes to voice, there are different degrees of songwritting ability :)
Per seems the kind of guy who probably writes a tune a day even if he throws six a week to the bin. While Marie seems the kind of “songwriter” that writes mostly to keep up, to give herself something to sing. Don’t take me wrong, but her discography is filled with colaborations with other musicians for what I see in the CDs I have (the only one I don’t is The Change).

It’s a different approach to songwriting, and in my opinion Marie is more of a singer than a songwriter...
If we’re not to relativize about their voices I don’t think it’s fair that we do relativize about their songwriting either.

Marie about 50% of her solo work is co-written, some 10 songs for Roxette also co-written and 2 songs for Roxette exclusively hers / Per 95% of Roxette is his, plus 95% of his solo work plus 95% of Gyllene Tider, plus many songs given to many other artists... You gotta acknowledge the boy can write.

EDIT: “Little Girl” IS that bad :DD

and here we are again.. is it really necessary to repeat ourselves over and over again? we all know what we all think... eller?
