Sales numbers for Roxette's singles?
animalkingdom said on May 5, 2005 20:50:
Hey,
does anybody have any data of the sales of Roxette’s singles?
Am just curious about how many copies
The Look,
Joyride,
It Must Have Been Love and
Sleeping In My Car, for instance, sold at the time.
And does anyone here know if it’s true that How Do You Do! was Roxette’s fastest selling single? Read it at some ABBA related website a while ago...

Thought sales figures was of no importance to you?
Salvation sold about 10 copies, I have 3 of those... :D

“Thought sales figures was of no importance to you?”
Tev, you misunderstood me...They are, at least they used to be...But I suppose you’re referring to my comment about “A Table in the Sun” and Marie’s singles overall...She’s not really commercial as you know.
But Roxette is, and I was just curious about the sales figures for some of their greatest hits.
I have Salvation x 2. :)

According to www.riaa.com “the look” and “it must have been love” has sold gold (500 000 units) in the US, and I think that I also have Salvation.

And I have 2 “Salvation” as well. Guess it was a bigger hit than I thought...

I have 7 Center of the Hearts. Only counting the 2 track. Now that’s a hit...

Salvation is a great song... btw if it would have had good promotion, it would have been sold better, without promotion nothing is possible.
The spanish version Lo siento got some airplay in my city and it was a hit. By the way, the last succesfull roxette hit over here.
Roxette-atic said on May 6, 2005 22:30:
Yea its a great song, and I think the video is ok. But it was bad as a single. Its just not a HIT. Its like Roxette would have released “Place Your love” as a single or something- great song, but not a hit!Roxette never made so many singles- mistakes as with “Have A Nice Day”.
animalkingdom said on May 6, 2005 22:51:
SORRY SO VERY DEARLY!
But the topic isn’t about SALVATION nor the AMOUNT OF HOW GOD DAMN MANY COPIES IT’S SOLD!
I was just asking how many copies such singles like The Look or Joyride sold worldwide...if anybody knew...now it’s turned out as a joke and will continue like one. Not that it’d mean the world to me but this is just ridiculous! Hello!!!!
Roxette-atic said on May 7, 2005 00:52:
LOL gee relax dude :)..looks like nobody knows how many copies the singles have sold. Call EMI or something, i dont know...
RobS said on May 7, 2005 01:03:
Sorry for dragging the thread off-topic.
But as said EMI would probably be the only ones with that info. The only other way i can think of.... is getting the figures from countries where they went gold/platinum then you can probably get a rough figure like that?
gessle-addict said on May 7, 2005 01:38:
According to Per, the best selling Roxette single so far has been “The Look”, while “It must have been love” has been the most aired or radio friendly Roxette song.

I also have a copy of “salvation” single... Then, let me count.. one, two... More than 10 copies so far!!!

I have 2 “Salvation” singles. One in jewelcase, and one in cardsleeve. It was the biggest single flop: it only charted in Sweden, at #52 (ever worse that Opportunity Nox or She Doesn’t Live Here Anymore). I can’t believe it was released as a vinyl promo, in France (if I remember well, ’cause I don’t have it).
Ok, it didn’t sell well. But the tracks are interesting. A edited version of Salvation, See Me, and a new version of Crazy About You. Almost Unreal, for instance, was a hit but the single didn’t offer anything new (just previously released songs). The AC mix doesn’t count at all!
animalkingdom said on May 14, 2005 12:35:
@ above
Salvation wasn’t actually the biggest flop.
She doesn’t live here anymore didn’t make the Swedish Top 60 singles chart, while Salvation made no. 46.
Also, SDLHA only peaked at 86 in Germany, Salvation at 80 (and that was Christmas time).
Bunio said on May 14, 2005 15:04:
i think that all singles from HAND (more or less) flopped. Of course except WICF.
They get some airplay on tv and radios in poland, but only WICF managed to get good results on charts.
animalkingdom said on May 14, 2005 17:14:
@ Zargo
In Germany Vulnerable actually peaked at 71.
Why it was included on the Greatest Hits compilation was the fact it was the second biggest hit from CBB in Sweden, peaking at 12, while RTY never made the Top-40, Fireworks only 34, and Crash! Boom! Bang! number 17.
It was also a big radio hit according to the Ballad Hits booklet.

@Animalkingdom:
According the chart positions I have (I made it myself, I took the info from a Roxette site):
SDLHA was #86 in Germany and #10 in Sweden (this is probably wrong).
Salvation only charted in Sweden (#52)
I’ve found some chart figures in this are wrong. Where did you find that information?
Roxette-atic said on May 14, 2005 21:28:
SDLHA being #10 in sweden couldent be more wrong..it didnt even reached the top 40..
ATLTK said on May 14, 2005 21:33:
have 2 “Salvation” singles. One in jewelcase, and one in cardsleeve + 2 promos
Zargo said on May 15, 2005 03:18:
It seems you can take most singles chart positions with a grain of salt - everybody seems to have a different theory.
animalkingdom said on May 15, 2005 09:07:
Depends on where you’ve gotten them from...For instance I have the Swedish positions from GLF, the Germany ones from MediaMarkt.
animalkingdom said on May 15, 2005 09:08:
Oh and can it still be that there are people here counting their Salvation copies...? o_0
Roxette-atic said on May 5, 2005 21:47:
I think Per said somewhere that “Wish I Could Fly” sold 400 000 copies..if I remember right. Dont know anything about the other singles ,but I guess that “It must Have Been Love” is the best selling single. The biggest single-flops must be “She Doesent Live Here Anymore” or “Salvation”...
