Heartland Cafe

Is this album an official release?
Thanks!

Yes of course, by Gyllene Tider though.

Edit: Typo.

and the album Heartland was released by GT under the name Roxette

So it makes Pearls of Passion second official record?

Was Heartland Cafe released across the Europe, or only in Sweden?

No, because those Roxette were not Roxette, but Gyllene Tider. Which is Per’s former band. Though Marie appears in some songs she’s just the back-up singer (and just in some songs).
The first thing Roxette released as we know it, is Pearls of Passion.

If I don’t remember badly they released or had thought releasing it also in the USA. But was a total flop, which accelerated the band’s desintegration.
But neither was Pearls of Passion released in Europe. At least not until 1997.

Yeah, thanks for the info

@Mishar,

In my opinion its really a hardcore collectors item. Not really a ’classic’ by any means.

oam

In my opinion it is a really good album. Just as good as the other GT albums, different and more serious but just as good.

“The first thing Roxette released as we know it, is Pearls of Passion.”

Actually it’s Neverending Love so yes, Pearls of Passion is Roxette’s 2nd official record, but Hearland Café ain’t the 1st.

Neverending Love was the first single, Pearls Of Passion was the first album.

As i remember Hearland Café wasnt released in the USA but there was a shortened version - Heartland - with 6 songs or something. Santi’s right, it was a total flop anyway.

If I remeber right Per and Marie realesed Neverending Love as just a singel and it became such a big hit so they decided recorder a whole album. But I can be wrong.

And ’Neverending Love’ was first written by Per for some Swedish singer and after he rejected singing for it Per asked Marie :)

No, it was written for Pernilla Wahlgren who turned it down and gave it to her brother Nicklas. Nicklas recorded it, and it was about to be released on his album when Per and Marie decided to record it, so EMI told him that he wasn’t allowed to release it. The rest is history.
