Bear in mind, I love Roxette and Keane and the like...
But I also find Gwen Stefani’s album...highly interesting. There are different sounds/voices in each song, but instead of being random, everything falls neatly into place and rhythm. the songs are rich with bass, and guitars and layers and layers of voices. The pop is very very 80’s, but the other songs are *fusion* ...almost wickedly abrasive, eg., “harajuku girls” is simply divine.
It’s like being at a king’s banquet, wearing heels, a boa and eating wedding cake.

“The Real Thing” Is IMO the best song on the album.
It’s pop being pop at its best! And pop is music again, not just beats and a girl dancing.
One of last year’s highlights.

I love this CD, one of the best of last year. Not crazy about “Rich Girl” or “Luxurious” (and I won’t even mention that last song...), but the rest are excellent. Really different, nice throwbacks to the 80s but still modern and fun. “The Real Thing” is my favourite.

I totally agree with you on what the best song is on the Album!
But when I get myself ready to go out clubbing or to a party, I have to play Hollaback Girl!! :-)

The “tick-tock” song is called What You Waiting For. I really love the album. It’s so different to everything else which is around at the moment. Very fresh. Not sure if she’ll be around in 10 years time, but I think a few more years yet. I really liked No Doubts It’s My Life to
