sheryl crow releasing 2 albums this year

From Billboard.com
Sheryl Crow is coming back with a vengeance. After sitting out much of 2004, she has not one, but two albums ready to go for 2005. “I want to put out an artist record first and then a pop record in the fall,” she says. “I’m going to hand both my records in [to Interscope] probably in the last bit of January.”
So what makes an “artist” record different from a “pop” record? Crow laughs and says, “Probably the art record will never get any airplay. It’s just a really heartfelt, stripped-down, no-bells-and-whistles record that lyrically probably has heavier content than maybe a pop record does.”
She adds that she still loves writing pop songs, “but for me, just for a long time, I’ve been wanting to sit down and write songs that I feel compelled to write.”
She figures that the success of 2003’s “The Very Best of Sheryl Crow” (which has sold 3.2 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan) allows her “to put out a record that’s maybe not as commercial.”
Given her very public romantic relationship with cyclist Lance Armstrong, she says it is no surprise that her mood is upbeat these days-and it shows in her music.
“I am writing a lot more love songs because I’m really happy in my life, and I’m in a really positive relationship, but there’s also so much stuff to write about in the world. It’s a really interesting time to be an artist.”
She adds that any performer now has to guard against the cult of celebrity. “People are having such an adverse reaction to celebrities that to be a celebrity is a negative term, and to be an artist, you have to fight that part of it. For me, in order to find a way to reach people in a medium that’s based on commerciality, but to also say something, is a real interesting question and really exciting.”

I’ll bet the composer of “First Cut Is The Deepest” did not sell out, after Sheryl took that song to the top of the charts again. I bet that, when the record company sent the royalty checks to the composer, he screamed and hollered, “I do not accept any evil ugly infidel US dollars!!” and threw the checks back in their face.

How disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oldag. Once again, you have shown just how uneducated and moronic you are. Cat Stevens, i.e: Yusuf Islam, is now a Muslim. Yes, I’ll give you that. BUT THE GUY IS NOT A DAMN TERRORIST! It’s the view of people like you who make us Europeans feel less sorry for what happened on 9/11. Yusuf Islam is a peace-loving man, he has donated MILLIONS! YES MILLIONS! to charities all over the world. You wanna know the stupid thing about Yusuf Islam’s arrest in America on terrorist charges? It’s the fact that he was in America not 2-weeks beforehand, donating $25,000 to an orphanage in Texas! If Yusuf Islam doesn’t want to accept any royalties from the songs he once wrote that he feels don’t promote peace, that’s his doing. And, as a matter of fact, he said he donated all the money he made from the royalties off of Sheryl Crow’s version of The First Cut Is The Deepest to a drug addiction centre in the poverty stricken East side of London. Grow the fuck up...
And coyboyusa... I had come to expect more from you nowadays. It’s quite pathetic to think you have not grown up at all in the last 2 years I have seen you here. I’d advise you to get a life too and stop being so narrow-minded...

I LOVE SHERYL CROW. This is great news.
2005 is gonna be a great year for my CD collection. I now have an album to look forward to from Garbage, another from Bjork, a re-issue of Alanis’ Jagged Little Pill album, and also a Best Of from her, an album from Natalie Imbruglia, and now TWO from Sheryl Crow AND Moby!! This year is gonna rock the sox off of my CD collection!!
I have to say, I am looking forward to the ’arty’ one more than the pop one. I didn’t particularly like C’mon C’mon (which I considered to be more ’poppy’ than ’arty’, hint hint Coyboyusa!). I didn’t like C’Mon C’Mon very much (apart from the singles, the title track, Safe & Sound, Diamond Road and Weather Channel). I hope this ’arty’ one has more songs like Weather Channel (just her and a guitar - you can’t beat that!).
YAY FOR ME!!!

I think C’Mon C’Mon is Sheryl Crow’s finest song and album to date, and I considered it all quite poppy, so I’m very much looking forward to her pop release this autumn... Rich

I didn’t say Cat Stevens is a terrorist. I just wondered whether he accepted any royalty dollars (generated by evil US capitalism) for Sherryl’s retread of First Cut. Thanks for the information. It is good that Cat has donated that money to drug bums.

Actually... Run Baby Run was her very first single. That song was released February 1993, 4 months before Leaving Las Vegas. Then All I Wanna Do came out that October, followed by the double a-side “Strong Enough/Can’t Cry Anymore” in 1994.
She only released 2 singles from the C’Mon C’Mon album (Soak Up The Sun; Steve McQueen). And for those who are unaware, “The Very Best of Sheryl Crow - The Videos” DVD contains the same booklet as the “Very Best Of” album. And, coyboyusa, according to the sleevenotes on the DVD - Steve McQueen reached #13 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Am I missing something? Or is the ’Hot 100’ chart the biggest singles chart there is in America? Doesn’t that make it a hit? #13... none too shabby!

Can you name me one “charity” that gives financial rewards to suicide bombers? Huh? Huh? What’s that? Huh?! Didn’t think so...
Coyboyusa... please stop typing the rubbish you hear on the ’gay grape vine’ (as George Michael would say!).
“It’s a fact”. From who? I wouldn’t trust any of your american news channels if I were you... we get CNN here, and from what I’ve seen................................. :( :) :( :) :( :) :( :) :( :)

and go to discography, but each of them opens individually

I haven’t heard any of them yet. So whether they’re any good or not... I don’t know. I heard that “You’re Not The One” is pretty good, but not a lot of people have heard very many of the others.

We were talking about “successful” singles. Oh well why didn’t you say so!? Cause whether a song is successful or not - that makes all the difference in talking about when the singles were released! And our media is not better? Well... our media actually reports on decent stories! Your media is so politically-corrected that it DARE not even TRY to upset the government. Ever heard of all the stuff that went on over at the BBC because of the “sexed up” alligations? But hej... if you americans would rather your Dan Rather reporting “CBS Honours - Fallen Heros. Timmy was a good little boy. Who trusted his government and ended up getting killed for oil. He liked soccer, liked molesting women (oh damn, we shouldn’t have said that), erm... he played with kittens, and rescued cute little puppy dogs in his spare time. He was killed when he chocked on a candy stick - which he was supposed to be handing out to Iraqi children. CBS Honours you Timmy”... if you call that journalism, that’s your loss!
And in all fairness, I’d stop bad mouthing our “anti american crap”. We’re making up for the 50 years you’ve spent calling us “fools who want to live in a Utopia”. Well... I’d rather live in my little crooked Utopia than live in your... *insert a million american insults here*...

You’re aware we get CNN, Fox and ABC News here in the UK, right? Those who watch it know just about as much about american news as you do!
And with regards to the American government being slugged with corruption! Oh, what a surprise! That’s another thing we hate about America. They’re off, trying to create democracies in other countries - and they can’t even get it right themselves! I’m sure that’s ironic! Or is it just hypocritical? Either way... it’s not good! Oh, and then there’s the horrible abuse of detainees in Guantanamo Bay - but, you americans seem to think that locking people up just cause they’re muslim and in Afghanistan/Pakistan is reason enough to suspect them of terrorist activites - so, without trial - you subject them to physical and mental abuse. YEAH! REAL DEMOCRATIC! And back to the media... ah who cares! We all know it’s crap! Come watch the UK News - then you’ll know what Journalism is supposed to be like!

So it’s wrong for someone to look good when they’re 40? OK. That’s nice to know! And I don’t think I’ve ever heard her “lash” out at anybody. She’s not the “lashing” type, if you ask me! Just cause you don’t like women, doesn’t mean other people can’t!
“she’s seeing the biker rider lance armstrong, they aren’t married she has no kids he has 2.”
Er... that’s what I said! (well, apart from him havin’ kids)
“and as for singles, you mentioned the sdingle that started her success and the simple fact was that leaving las vegas was her first hit. ahhh”
Leaving Las Vegas wasn’t even a hit, you clown! It barely scraped the pathetic country chart! That’s not a hit! Either way (hit or not), I’m right! Run Baby Run was her very first single. All I Wanna Do was her first hit! I WIN!

if you bleiev all americans support bush’s initiatives in thew middle east your bery poorly informed. I for one however would rather anglo interests have control of the worlds oil supply than insan muslim mullah. Journailsm died shortly after ww2 when it all became sensationized by people like kennedy, king and the like its all smear and very little truth your right. And on the prisoner abouse, you do realize that if it was some old supewr power like russia that invaded iraq, abu ghrab would have been a slaughtewrhouse, nothing liek the things the cia endorsed.

just because i don’t like women doesn’t mean i can’t be objective. For 2 years sheryl was on this campagian against young girls in pop music, now she shows alot of skin in her videos and records pop songs like soak up the sun, so yeah she is a hypocrite

Soak Up The Sun is a DECENT pop song. Like it or not, you must admit that it’s about a million times better than all the ’I’m A Slave 4 U’ imitations that are flying around! And I don’t think she has anything to hide, with regards to her body. The fact of the matter is - if Sheryl wants to sit on a bed naked with a guitar, that’s her choice. I seriously doubt that all these 16 year old’s swarming the pop scene have a huge choice when it comes to constantly dressing sexy in their videos. It’s usually a decision from the record label. The record industry has simply turned into a minor-porn industry. Young girls are the victims of this.

Yeah, the top 40 of the COUNTRY charts. Not like there were huge sale figures for it though. And according to the booklet for The Very Best Of Sheryl Crow, Run Baby Run peaked @ #13 on the ’Modern Rock Songs’ chart. Is that a hit? Drink my tea? I prefer beer actually! Crumpets? Can’t stand the things! Sit on my mossy stone? OK!! Oppressing the Irish? Can’t do that no more... with their replublic status and all...
And YOU (i.e: americans) only think that the media has been falling short of it’s duties since WW2. The media is still a hard hitting force in this part of the world...

And i am not dismissing sheryl crows beauty at all, all i am saying is people shouldnt’ get up on soap boxes unless they weant to get hit with tomatoes and its gonna be her turn soon
