Would you exchange holidays?
roxlad said on December 15, 2004 20:19:
I was thinking the other day that it would be great if members from TDR (who we know well) would exchange holidays... this way we could know the person in real life, visit a foreign country and exchange Rox stuff.... etc.... I’m still thinking if it’s a crazy idea or not, what do you think?
I’m not writing this ’cos I want to do it now but maybe when I have a free room in my house.
antz said on December 16, 2004 10:23:
ya mean like a foreign exchange student?
We had a girl from Switzerland stay with us on a foreign exchange programme, back when I was at school.
It certainly would be a great way to meet fellow roxette fans and see different countries!
But you are right, it would be good to get to know them quite well, first.
Majdy said on December 16, 2004 10:29:
that would be great. But I wonder, if theres anyone want to visit me IN Indonesia :D
well, adambishop7 has done it ;)
Kiwein1 said on December 16, 2004 11:54:
Sounds great and reminds me of the thing we once started...can’t remember the name right now...damn...well, it was a big database with names, addresses, hobbies ...from TDR-readers and fans..so, count me in. :)
roxlad said on December 17, 2004 11:08:
@LittleSpooky, are you planning to do it for real? That’s cool! Where to/from?
@Antz you mean from Switzerland to New Zealand? How did it go?
@Majdy, I would! But I guess it’d be too much for my pocket at the moment :(
@Kiwein, that db thing was a good idea, I’m sorry it got lost. I’m not sure if I saw it or not, I can’t remember. Anyway maybe later on in 2005 I’ll offer a week holiday exchange and see who replies!
antz said on December 17, 2004 23:44:
@roxlad -We were her host family, I wasnt actualy part of the exchange programm, so didnt get to go to Switzerland at that time.
But I have been a few years ago. It was awesome.
Where do u live in Italy?
LittleSpooky said on December 18, 2004 03:49:
Okay... I’m a brain damaged child. I originally thought you were talking about practicing different holiday religions:
For example: You’re Catholic, I’m Wiccan. You celebrate Yule for this holiday season, and I take pot shots at the Catholic practices.
Damn am I dumb.
roxlad said on December 18, 2004 20:10:
@antz
I live in a small town near Rome. It’s by the sea side in the centre of Italy.
@LS hey, that’s even a better idea LS! Tell us all about it...
LittleSpooky said on December 18, 2004 23:42:
Rox: Well, this is my first year as a practicing Wiccan.... so this should be fun.
antz said on December 19, 2004 05:00:
@roxlad -cool! Do u work/study in Rome?
@Spooky - what is a Wiccan?
Well, if we’re going slightly off-topic and talking bout celebrating holidays.. then this is my FIRST Christmas.
I have never celebrated Christmas before, until now.
I was brought up in a religion that doesnt celebrate Christmas.
LittleSpooky said on December 19, 2004 05:14:
Antz: You would ask that, wouldn’t you? *lol*
Okay the most BASIC, SIMPLISTIC explination:
Wiccan = Practitioner of Witchcraft.
If you want more information, e-mail me at [email protected] and I will be happy to answer as many questions as I can.

antz said on December 19, 2004 23:00:
@Spooky -Witchcraft -geez if I was still part of my parents religion, I wouldve been part of the lynch mob trying to banish you from this forum! Lucky for you, I am now more open-minded!
@roxlad - So ever thought about visiting New Zealand? ;)
antz said on December 20, 2004 06:44:
Spooky, I’m sorry, it wasnt my intention to offend you.
I was just making the point that the religion I belonged to is totally intolerant of any other religion and basicaly anything that goes against their teachings.I am so glad I am not part of it anymore.
I was not judging you.
Majdy said on December 20, 2004 11:54:
I would like to get back to the topic ;)
just want to inform to everyone, that if someone really wants to come to my country (indonesia), the only expensive thing is your plane tix. but you can live for very cheap here!
if u want to stay at hotel, the cheapest was around $ 20 per day
but.. if you want to get even more cheaper, u can rent a room thats around $ 50 PER month!
Food is pretty cheap, unless if u want to eat western food. It’s above $ 3...
so, anyone interested? but of course I MUST know the person BETTER at first!
roxlad said on December 20, 2004 14:25:
@antz
I used to work in Rome but I took a year off ’cos I didn’t really like the job I was doing. During this year I hope to find something better, I’m also thinking about moving to the UK or to Sweden for a while but I have to see how things go after Xmas.
I always thought about visiting both OZ and NZ but I guess I’ll have to wait until I get a new job and some holidays! That would be so nice :)
@rox-kuryliw
so is your mum from UK and your dad from Ukraine? It’s getting interesting... my mum is from UK and my dad from Italy...
@majdy
$50 per month! wow in Europe is $50 per night if you’re lucky! Anyhow the whole idea behind this is exchanging rooms... that’s why it would be great to do it with somebody you know ’cos you’re gonna live together for a week. And you never know you might even fall in love with the person :))) OK... now I’m dreaming...
rox-kuryliw said on December 20, 2004 15:03:
@ roxlad, ye my dad is from ukraine, my mum is from england but she has alot of german in her family. as you can imagine we are a very tall family lol

ncurran said on December 20, 2004 19:11:

roxlad said on December 21, 2004 00:39:
@LittleSpookie, were you born in a different state from Utah? I can’t remember if you told me once or if it was a dream I had :)
LittleSpooky said on December 21, 2004 01:03:
*lmao* I WISH. Nope, born and spent most of my life here (although I did live with my dad in England and Florida for 2 years each, and a year with an aunt and uncle in Texas).
I guess it’s just one of those things, I might miss it when I leave kinda thing.
Majdy said on December 22, 2004 07:35:
@ ncurran : which place in Indonesia you’ll be going to?
@ roxlad : well, u never know ;)
harriej said on December 22, 2004 12:24:
@Majdy: There is a small chance I will visit Indonesia at the end of next year, although that will then be for my work. But if I get the chance to go there, I will also add a holiday to that.
ncurran said on December 22, 2004 14:40:
Majdy, Its in jakarta i think....though i’m not 100% decided that i will go. It depends what i am doing at that point and if i can get time off, also if i can get a cheap flight or not. I would like to go, but the friend getting married is not a really close friend, so I’m not really obliged to go.
girl7twenty7 said on December 24, 2004 14:06:
@Majdy My uncle’s wife’s sister is married to an indonesian and lives there. They proposed me to go to Indonesia, the only thing I must do is paying my tickets. Although it’s expensive i still hope I’ll visit them one day.
Majdy said on January 7, 2005 12:03:
I am not living in Jakarta, but who knows? just let me know if you ever come here :D
LittleSpooky said on December 16, 2004 04:51:
