First official performance?

At my mothers house I found an old video tape With the ANC-gala, in Gothenburg 30 Nov. 1985. It was sent on the Swedish TV the same year. Per and Marie are on the stage together with Lasse Lindbom, and they´re singing a Cover: “Love the one yuo´re with” (I don´t remember who wrote it) Could this be, Roxettes first official performance? It´s a shame that I can´t find it on “Rarities” at the DVD “Complete Collection”...

It all depends on how you see it. P&M performed live together already in ’83 when they did some Heartland songs with Gyllene Tider on TV. But the first real Roxette performance was on Jakobs stege on TV in November 1986.

In “Roxette, The Book” it says like this about the ANC-gala (translated from the swedish version):

None in the business seemd to believein a future for Per Gessle. In 1985 some of the biggest names in the rockbusiness arranged a giant manifestation for ANC. The whole “rock elite” in Sweden was to take part in a charritygala in Gothenbourg. The gala was to be TV-broadcasted and the whole show should be documented on a dubble-LP. All big namnes got a question to participate, and all did. But no one asked Per. No one counted him to be a part of the rock elite. If he was anything at all, he was a former pop idol. On the other hand, someone did come to think of Lasse Lindbom. He used to have his own rock band and had been a successful rock producer. Although it was to late to be included in the promoposters and on the LP, ’cos it was already printed. Lasse on his side, asked Marie, Per and MP if they should do something together at the gala. Ofcourse they wanted to do that.

So, I suppose it is this thing you have seen. the picture of this gala in “the book” (swedish version) are on page 142.

EDIT: The song “love the one you’re with is included on the “Party!” album. Although I’m not sure it is THAT version, or just the same song.

“Om Du Har Lust” in ’83 to be more correct. I think there were no songs from The Heartland Cafe even released by that time, tev ;)
