Gitte Haenning covers The Rain & Mot okända hav

Singer Gitte Haenning from Denmark - in Germany well known with her Hit “Ich will ’nen Cowboy als Mann” (1963!) - this week releases her new CD Johansson. On this you can find a cover version of The Rain. It sounds quite good, a little more up to date, cause of a great loop. As a big surprise, you find also the song “Sturmkind” (Stormchild), which is a german version of “Mot okända hav” and absolutely great.
The rest of the CD is in German, english and swedish.
She covers songs, like Tina Turners great “Dancing in my dreams” in german, which I like more from Tina. Also some swedish traditionals.

She shouldn’t have covered “Dancing in my dreams”, it’s one of my favourite songs of Tina and Gitte didn’t make the best cover.. :(
But: Sturmkind is quite good, I like it. Her vocals in “The Rain” are great, but I don’t like all the instruments they’ve used..I prefer some electric guitars for The Rain.
It’s a good album - featuring also some covers from The Police and Billy Joel. Really nice.

Maybe you should know that Gitte had huge success in Germany in the 60s. She has sung German back then and I guess she now wants to show that she has roots in Sweden, Danmark and Germany.
Further more the album is available as an international version, on which all German tracks at least are sung in English. Don’t know exactly about the Swedish/Danish songs.

I just bought the album and I love it!!
I always liked Gitte, and this is finally a reason to buy an album of her. The Rain turned out to be very good, interesting, different....
mot okända.... erm..... STURMKIND is amazing.
And that’s not all: This album really impresses me, nice instruments, sounds, and so on - well done, Gitte!

I love that Tina song ’dancing in my dreams’ , thought that should have been a single me i love it, Id be interested to hear ’The rain’ though aswell.
