filter coffee machines

hey all, Im thinking of buying a filter coffee machine for my kitchen at home, since becoming addicted to the one at my uni residence. Does anyone have any tips? thanks, oam

My advice buy a good make, I don’t know where you are in the world so perhaps pop to your local electric place and check out what they sell.... but avoid the cheap ones... I bought several cheap ones over the years and I have a good one now, but I am too lazy to use it.... :)

I’m actually british Ally, but resident in sweden right now.

Lucky you.... :)

:-) Its not forever, one year, but its nice. I’m doing an exchange year here. skåne is a nice place to be.

One of the things you need to do, is clean it out with vinegar and water at least once a month. Reason: Cleans out any mineral / hard water deposits.

Run vinegar through it once, as if you were making coffee. Then run water through it in the same fashion.

@LS, thanks, this is very interesting advice.

It’s a good thing to do (clean with vinegar and water), the taste of the coffee will be better and above that, the machine will be longer working because you clean it very well :-)

This reminds me of the phrase : “Oh I get up and make myself some coffee” ;-)

mr coffee used to have a kick as automatic coffeee maker cleaning solution that works so damn good but here in the states I can’t find it anymore maybe its around europe, good stuff and coffeee RULES!

so, anyone got any brand recommendations?????

buy one with a timer...it’s so cool to wake up to the smell of fresh brewed coffee!

Mr. Coffee

Mmmmmm....fresh coffee ! Sounds great !

Mine is from the brand Philips, it’s a good one and still working like it was new :-)

Philips...I’ll be checking that out. tack sa mycket

Philips is a good brand, can’t go wrong with that, or there is another good make called Krupps... (I think it is a German make) they are good also.. but a little expensive here in the UK, so don’t know what they are like in Sweden!

Mr. Coffee

spooky seems adamant that Mr Coffee is the way to go!!

MR Coffee...hmm, never heard of that brand. Is there also a Mrs/Ms Tea ;-) ?

No, I haven’t heard of that. But Mr. Coffee’s fairly inexpensive and is a timer, etc (at least in the States).

There’s always
