how come such a small country create such a lot good, internationally succesful music and such beautiful women?
Ferdan said on August 13, 2004 19:03:
Well, just think in American republicans... now think in mostly everything that is opposite to them, and that is Sweden :P j/k

Ferdan - “Well, just think in American republicans... now think in mostly everything that is opposite to them, and that is Sweden :P”.
No, I think they just put something in the warter!
I think it’s just cause they pay little attention to American music. In all fairness, it’s the American music that’s ruining our charts! And we stand by and let that happen.
The US industry thinks it’s soo big and so great and nowhere else in the world has anything decent,
Come on... honestly...
Europe:
Abba
Beatles, The
Bjork
Cardigans, The
Cranberries, The
Rolling Stones, The
Roxette
U2
... all I can think of right now,
US:
Jackson, Michael
Madonna
Presley, Elvis
... Oh, I’ve run out of ideas!
You could fill a book of European greats (both sales-wise and experimentation-wise!) You’d be lucky to get a pagefull of US artists. The US is nothing but corporate propoganda, resposible for nothing but hyped-fuelled one-hit wonders and boy-bands!

I think Scandinavian countries make great, catchy and fun music. Also Germany and Italy.
But yes Sweden does creat some Melodic and catchy music.
2 Roxhard, let me add to your “American list”:
Bon Jovi
Matchbox 20
Sheryl Crow
Richard Marx
Don henley
Eagles
Pat Benatar
Blondie
Berlin
Journey
Kiss.......... I think all of these are American, but not 100% sure
.,..So RoxHard you should hold your Anti-American views to yourself.
2 roxHard: seriously, do you really think that Irish and British music is that much better than US. That’s funny. Cuz it’s NOT.
2 Zeeshan: Britney was made by Swedish composers and producers. That was the only way for them to break into relatively-closed US market... by using a blonde American Slut.
RoxHard said on August 14, 2004 18:29:
Do you two seriously think that these can hold a candle to the names I’ve mentioned?!
US:
Bon Jovi (fell out of favour in 1994 - after only several years)
Matchbox 20 (biggest mistake of all including these in this list. How can a band that’s only been around for the last few years be compared to The Beatles, or even The Cranberries)
Sheryl Crow (ha! I’m a fan, but she is nowhere near people like Bjork. She lost her edge once her 3rd album fell out of the charts)
Richard Marx (who?)
Eagles (ok...)
Don henley (well... if you’re gonna include solo-Eagles, then I can also include John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison in my European list)
Pat Benatar (who? that jazz bloke? i don’t think so)
Blondie (yeah maybe)
Berlin (ha! the one song people remember from these is often mistaken as a Roxette song)
Journey (yeah... right)
Kiss (weren’t these Canadian?)
Europe:
Abba
Beatles, The
Bjork
Cardigans, The
Cranberries, The
Frankie Goes to Hollywood (responsible for the first ever controversial music video - something that still belongs to Britain, despite the Americans trying, in vein, to overtake)
Harrison, George
Lennon, John
McCartney, Paul
Mercury, Freddy
Queen
Rolling Stones, The
Roxette
U2
“Seriously, do you really think that Irish and British music is that much better than US. That’s funny. Cuz it’s NOT.”
Well, seriously. Look at your list, then look at mine? Which list has had more cultural impact and significance? That’s right! Mine!

Well everyone has a split opinion of who is the best band in the world, best fotboll player and so on and so forth. Isn´t that enough that you “know” who´s the best?

2 RoxHard:
My point was that your 3-artist list of Amercain performers was very incomplete. And you did not have to criticize every artist that I added. Look at my nick, I do prefer European music,...but not of artists like Bjork and U2
“cultural impact and significance?”
More like Promotion and Radio/TV airplay on MTV/VH1. “Cultural Significance” is nothing more than tons of promotion that artist like U2, Beatles and Madonna etc etc get or got worldwide, including here in US.
Anyway, this topic is about Swedish music and women, so Anti-American comments have no place here.
RoxHard said on August 15, 2004 03:16:
You say ’anti-american’ as if I’m calling you all pigs or something!
Ferdan said on August 15, 2004 04:19:
MTV and music channels didn´t exist when The Beatles and the Rolling Stones changed the pop and rock culture for ever.
