Roxette.org websites?

I was just wondering if any of the former Roxette.org websites have moved anywhere else? There were so many great sites that were forced to close, I really hope the webmasters have been able to set them up again especially Run To Roxette which was an awesome site! It’s such a shame that the roxette.org community had to end so suddenly, it was really cool!
If you have an ex rox.org site or you know of one that’s moved please share the links here. I run the MF Worship page and I am working on finding a place for it at the moment, I’ll let everyone know when it’s up and running again!

www.roxspain.com was being redirected to spain.rox.org but now has its own home.. we just need to reinstall everything :)

Oh great that some of the sites have found new homes, I’m especially happy to see Run To Roxette is back!!
Thanks for the kind words Lawyer. The Worship Page is in bits and pieces on my computer at the moment while I try to find a new place for it. I’ll take a look at the suggestions you made when I have time, I’m in the process of moving to Sweden at the moment so there’s no time for websites! Hopefully it will be up and running in a few weeks after I settle into my new home.

There’s a 250 kByte filesize-limit on t35.com, so it’s just a waste of time to upload anything there. Even a good quality picture file is larger than that. Don’t upload anything to Geocities neither if you’re expecting more than 10 visitors a day. They’ve intorduced a data transfer limit for all accounts there. This means if you create a popular content there, all bandwidth quota gets used up in an hour or so, thus the site is unavailable for the rest of the day.

I try to save my forum on cn.roxette.org, it took time, but I’m sure I will build a new Chinese Roxette site in the future.

http://www.web1000.com is a free host with no banners, but I have trouble using it. It often refuses my FTP program, and also I made a site that seems to work ok but a lot of people said they got a blank page when they tried to visit the site. The demo site was at http://www.mariefredriksson.org , maybe someone can tell me if it works or not. Otherwise I might have to pay for hosting...I really don’t wanna do that but if there’s no other way then I’ll have to pay!
I could really kick the person who made the complaints that forced Roxette.org to close!!! And I could also kick the people who put illegal mp3s and videos on their Rox.org sites that caused the complaint!

Marie: the site redirects to the company’s website and shows info + sign up button for their services :S

That’s weird, I have visited the site on a few different computers with no problems, but everyone else who has tried gets a redirection page or a blank site. Oh well I guess I wouldn’t recommend Web 1000 then, it seems to be crap. I’ll keep looking.
Ferdan said on August 10, 2004 09:02:
web1000 has problems with some countries and/or ISPs.
Does anyone know what or wich were those “illegal” Mp3 that caused all?
Anyway, http://www.tripod.lycos.co.uk/ isn´t bad.
http://www.iespana.es/heberg/ neither is bad, but it´s in spanish and french, dunno if they have an english version.
Denstandigaresan said on August 10, 2004 09:07:
I guess they’re all illegal. The copyright wasn’t owned by the site. :(
No MP3 is legal, unless copyright is owned by the person downloading it!
Sparvogamarie said on August 11, 2004 05:33:
I don’t know the exact sites or MP3s that had the problem, but I do know that there were quite a few roxette.org sites with videoclips and MP3s. I never put that stuff on my site because I knew it might cause problems, though I never realised something like that could shut down the whole roxette.org system. It’s really a shame it wasn’t possible to close the offending sites and leave the legal sites, because now innocent people have been punished and forced to close down or move their website.
I wonder who complained? It must have been someone from a record company or Roxette management because I can’t imagine a fan or a regular site visitor would think to make a complaint about MP3s....

I think the problem was also that the Uni where Dan hosted the server didn’t want to host non-university related servers/sites anymore. First he had to change to that roxette.cs.caltech.edu domain.. (a year ago?), now he couldn’t find any way around anymore.
And normally when there is a complaint about copyright (or spam) it affects the whole domain (roxette.org + anything that contains this domain).
And who knows? Maybe it was a jealous fan :P I find it totally weird.. these sites have been online for long and for sure Per & Co knew about them, why now? No idea.

does somebody knows if roxetteservice has moved to other host?? i need to take some info from that site... ill be very happy if somebody can help me...
Ferdan said on August 12, 2004 23:18:
dsresan, are you saying that MP3 are all illegal? haha
In order to be copyrighted, it has to be copyrighted. I mean, if it´s a recording that´s not copyrighted by the artist it is not illegal to download it. And there are hundreds of hundreds of non-copyrighted recordings.

I once mirrored the whole site on my harddrive and then forgot about it until recently, let me see what I can do ;-)

I also find it strange that www.roxette.org was shut just because of jelaousy or illegal mp3’s. They should have shut only those pages... But now when it is working again, some links are shut, like The ROXETTE Collection and some others. Actually, all these sites contained music.

“But now when it is working again”
Is it? I didn’t notice roxette.org was working again...

@LoneGunman: Yeah, that answer was supposed to be for you! ;-)
Well, as I said I mirrored the site on my harddrive, so I just zipped everything and am uploading it right now! I made this copy in 2/99, though, so it might not be the latest version - can’t remember if the page was even updated after that...
*edit* Here’s the link: http://www.starrox.net/sonstiges/pop.zip
