MADONNA: Re-Invention Tour 2004!
vaxjoe said on May 5, 2004 08:01:
As Madonna Tribe hinted few weeks ago, the opening number of the show would be The Beast Within.
The song, that has been stripped down from the original Justify My Love elements, to give an ever more haunting feel than ever, will accompany screen images inspired by the Steven Klein/Madonna project X-STaTIC PROC=eSS.
After the opening number, Madonna will come on stage and amaze the audience with her new rendition of her classic hit Vogue.
As usual, keep in mind that things are still subjects to change but according to our sources - that we trust completely - this is what’s going on at the moment.

=================================
The show is designed to start off dark and heavy, similar to the Drowned World tour and then gets decadent in the middle, like The Girlie Show, and by the end it’s just all out fun....Madonna wakes up from the dream and the show is over, except for the encores.
All the old songs have been tweaked to give a fresh edge.....they are not straight-on versions from the albums.

@ Nikos
Hey, how come you’re back here?
Oh and I have not heard from u for a long while, have I? *rolleyes*
Anyway, I just would love to see Madonna: there’s an auction net page here in Finland has two tickets for Earls Court near the stage. The only problem is that the price starts from 500€...
Money is the great issue as I have thought to travel abroad during the summer (if I can act like a good accountant, really).

EXCLUSIVE: Tour big spoiler.
“Bad Girl” is going to be a totally different song from the original. Patrick Leonard did a totally new re-arragment of it. Think “Rain” from the “Girlie Show,” very drummy with tons of piano.
There is a big love theme in the song hence “Nothing Really Matters” and “Crazy For You.” They’re trying different versions of “Nothing Really Matters”: the Peter Rauhofer club 69 and a new chill-out drummy version also arranged by Patrick Leonard.
We can reveal that “X-static Process” has always been in the setlist...2 versions are being trying together, starting with the acoustic version into the Jacques LuCont’s edit of the track. They are still trying to see if they are going to use both or just one.
Madonna is going to rap in “American Life,” so far is indeed in the setlist. She is really strong about putting the track, but Jamie King is not so sure.
“Bedtime Story” is going to be the theme song of the tour! The Orbital mix is not going to be used, Madonna is not feeling it. Junior’s cut might be it. Also Stuart Price is doing some remix of the song... to try it.
“Like A Prayer” has way more of a dark beat. They are rehearsing a more heavy version, which is more dancing too.
Dancing is hard very athletic! Madonna is going full of dancing this time. Very “Blond Ambition”... hence all the rehearsals.

What the hell? Surely she should’ve picked some better tracks! Is there anybody who likes Dress You Up? The Beast Within - what a waste!
She’s trying to get a gig at Slane Castle (in Ireland). But, I doubt she’ll get it. Firstly, she wants it to be on a Sunday - and the locals at Slane Castle object to that. Back in 1979 (when Bob Dylan was performing here), he had a gig on a Sunday. But, by the saturday afternoon, the whole town was smashed! The (at the time) Lord Mayor of Slane signed an agreement with the local people that a gig will never be held at the venue on a Sunady EVER AGAIN!
It’s just like Madonna to think she can just swan into any country and have every law changed to suit her! She has no consideration for anyone elses EXISTANCE!
And, in all fairness, I think she’d be better off cancelling the gig altogether. Slane Castle is a 65,000 capacity venue - there is no way she would sell it out! Seeing as her albums sell a maximum of 30,000 copies in Ireland (The American Life album only reached #28, and I think Love Profusion was the only single to break the Top 40 - at #39 or something!)
She’s wasting her time here. She should just bugger off!
Plus, who the hell does she think she is charging £150 (US-$270) FOR A SINGLE TICKET! Even if The Beatles reformed (which is very, very, very unlikely) they wouldn’t dare charge that amount for tickets! But... like fools, her fans accept it! I don’t get those people - and she dared moan about MP3 sharing! She makes enough god damned money!!!
ally77 said on May 21, 2004 20:11:
@ Loud Talker... I agree with you.... she acts like she owns the world.. personally I would not pay £10 if she was at the end of my street... thanx but no thanx!
I once won a CD on a radio comp Madonna’s last album, told them to keep it! ;)
StillFar said on May 21, 2004 20:35:
lol as if Madonna is responsible for the drinking problem of the irish ;)
btw, look at her tourdates, you’ll see that pretty much everything is sold. Yes, to the prices she asked for. I paid 90 CDN (55 Euro) for the tickets and the seats aren’t thaaat bad, I paid the same to see Roxette and let’s face it, there’s a different market value here. Most shows were sold within a couple of minutes, tell me one artist who’s able to do that...maybe her recent work sucks, but she’s still one artist people want to see....I certainly do!
ally77 said on May 21, 2004 20:59:
You see what you fail to see, is half the tickets where sold to touts.. and within weeks they will be on ebay being passed over for a lot more money... I guess Madonna considers this fair to all the fans that have followed her for so many years.... and are desperate to get there hands on a ticket...
I mean being resonable... what’s so special about paying £100 for a ticket to see Madonna.... or am I missing something....
What is the difference in seeing her perform live on stage to seeing, Roxette, ABBA, Alanis, MJ, or some crummy boyband...
She ain’t giving anything special away...
StillFar said on May 22, 2004 13:21:
I understand what you mean, but I guess that just comes with people ordering tickets via internet. For every concert which is in high demand you will find tickets on Ebay. Check for Annie Lennox & Sting tickets and ebay and you’ll see the asking price is just as high as the one for Madonna.
Anyway, I understand what you mean, I guess. But maybe for some people it’s ok to spend $300 on Madonna just as it is for you to travel to Sweden and see Per where you will spend at least the same amount...
ally77 said on May 22, 2004 19:20:
True but the big difference in travelling to see Per, is I get a holiday out of it... a change of scenery, few nights in a good hotel, but still only pay the average price for a ticket... if you can order one through ticnet that is!
I am not likely to go 20 miles up the road and pay £100 to see Madonna for the sake of 2 hours!
Loud-Talker said on May 22, 2004 21:41:
StillFar: “lol as if Madonna is responsible for the drinking problem of the irish”
Are you moronic and stupid, or are you just blind to the fact that it was the people who came from other areas and countries that trashed Slane Town???!!
For Goodness sake, use your brain!
Why on earth would people who live in Slane start smashing in some windows and risk getting caught?
And, by the way, there are only 4 pubs in Slane Town! It wasn’t drink! It was the vandels who came from Northern Ireland and the UK who started the riots - many witnesses heard the majority of the vandels had English/Northern Irish accents!!!
And - how come I can stereotype all americans as war-mongeling, gun-totting idiots and get flamed for it! But, you can make all these stereotypes about Irish people... AND YOU DON’T GET YOUR ACCOUNTS DELETED!
There is blatant favouritism in this place, and I’m getting quite sick of it! “So why don’t you just quit” - is what you’ll all probably say. But, quite frankly, I simply don’t want to quit because 1) I still love Roxette and 2) I don’t like the thought of you all slagging off the Irish and not having
someone here to defend them!!!
And, by the way - at least us Irish can handle our drink! There are probably abou 5,000-drink related assaults in Ireland throughout THE WHOLE YEAR. There is about the same number of drink-related assaults in an English city such as Birmingham over the Christmas period alone! (and that’s not just me speculating - I seen it on one of those BBC documentaries.
And, all your defenses about Madonna’s high ticket prices is useless! SERIOUS touts have a LOT of spare money! They will simply buy these tickets priced at £150, and then sell them on eBay for around £450!!! And so, instead of paying £150 for a ticket on eBay which was originally priced £45, you will now be paying £450 for a ticket which was blatantly over-priced in the first place!
Madonna is a con-artist who blatantly rips off her fans with her consistantly crap quality albums. Ray Of Light was her only strong album - even Music had many stinkers (Runaway Lover; Amazing; Paradise (not for me); Nobdy’s Perfect).
And American Life blatantly proved that ’the gay fanbase’ was shoved firmly off its own white horse! Up until Music, the gay fanbase was screaming that they were by far the most loyal fanbase in the world. But... American Life recieves a few bad reviews, and it sells a fifth of what her last album did. Not exactly loyal then, are you??
“As if Madonna is responsible for the drinking problem of the irish”
StillFar was stereotyping; judging; being ignorant and simply being pigheaded!!! That was the whole basis for this rant, and you didn’t like it very much, did you? I’d think about things before you type, just so I could spare you from any foolish notion that I’d let stupidity, directed at the Irish, like this slip without any flames being thrown!!!
Now, if you excuse me... I’m off to The Cardigans forum. A place that I can be free from any UNJUST stereotypical hatred!
StillFar said on May 23, 2004 01:09:
I’m using ;) and lol to mark a joke, sorry you seem to have a problem with my humour.
Regarding Slane: she asked for a sunday as far as I know...I guess the simple solution (if there’s a problem in doing so) would be to not to give her the permission...hope this post wasn’t offensive!
Loud-Talker said on May 23, 2004 03:25:
Yeah, it was offensive! According to my new religion, I am now no longer allowed to see or speak the word ’joke’, except on Friday.
That comment was stupid, wasn’t it? But it isn’t nearly as stupid as a woman who refuses to even begin to negotiate any other dates for a tour. She is free for the previous 2 weeks before her supposed Irish date, but still refuses any dates apart from the Sunday she demands!
ally77 said on May 25, 2004 07:44:
NO NO NO NO.... I have just been very unlucky to catch a clip of M’s new tour, about 5 minutes of Madonna performing from LA last night.... She was so out of tune, and the costume, made her look like a tart from the 80’s... She really is too old for this kind of performance now.....
Really poor taste, talk about looking tarty!! :S
animalkingdom said on May 25, 2004 12:17:
OK, if anyone’s still interested here’s the setlist from the opening show in LA last night:
1. The Beast Within
2. Vogue
3. Nobody Knows Me
4. Frozen (The first song NOT lip-synced - I can’t believe she’d lip-sync!)
5. American Life
6. Express Yourself
7. Burning Up
8. Material Girl
(Hollywood)
9. Hanky Panky
10. Deeper And Deeper
11. Die Another Day
12. Lament
(Bedtime Story)
13. Nothing Fails
14. Don’t Tell Me
15. Like A Prayer
16. Mother And Father
17. Imagine
18. Into The Groove
19. Papa Don’t Preach
20. Crazy for You
21. Music
22. Holiday
Apparently it was not a very theatrical show, the songs were the ones that impressed the audience this time...
Loud-Talker said on May 25, 2004 12:46:
What was her version of John Lennon’s Imagine like? I heard she masacured it!
animalkingdom said on May 25, 2004 18:25:
...just like Marie
Umm...she doesn’t feel old - the show is a 1000 times better than Britney’s who’s lip-syncing throughout the whole gig anyway.
Since when was age an issue in music?
ally77 said on May 25, 2004 19:25:
Age ain’t an issue.. with Madonna though she looks old.. and wrinkly.. too much time in the sun....
Loud-Talker said on May 26, 2004 12:25:
I seen a little clip of her performing Vogue on the news. She seemed lifeless and flat.
I guess she’s focusing too much on those pictures of dying Iraqi children that she has on those big screens to focus on dance routines and singing in-tune. By the way, what fraction of the money of those insanely prices tickets is she giving to charities? What’s that you say - nothing? I thought so!
ally77 said on May 26, 2004 14:48:
Just heard on the latest news today that she cancelled the second concert in LA, she calls it Stomach Flu... I call it “I am far too old for this, I can’t do it, let’s fake being ill”
Talk about giving up... bet those thousands that have bought tickets are a little miffed!
Said she was pass it, this proves it.... :)
animalkingdom said on May 26, 2004 16:57:
What I have now heard of her performances I am still SO longing to hear see her live!
And I am pretty sure she’ll alter the setlist: on the last tour she sometimes would exchange Gone to You’ll See although Drowned World Tour was very, let me say, down to the book!
Anyway, as she’s rehearsed Bad Girl, Bedtime Story and others that are not on the setlist for the time being, I don’t think she’d skip them for good!

Anyway, going back to the topic: the other tour (2001) wasn’t that cheap either.. In any case, the concerts here in Austria are hell of expensive, this summer they have Sting, The corrs and others at the Schönbrunn and tix are 60€ .. Anastacia in Autumn for 51Euro standing (for some reason the seating tix are a bit cheaper :S) and so on and so on..
Loud-Talker said on May 27, 2004 18:52:

’It would be nice if you could point out your views without insulting others’. Would you care to say anything to the person who effectively called all Irish people drunks???!!!
Loud-Talker said on May 27, 2004 18:56:
It was StillFar.
And here’s my quote: ’Are you moronic and stupid, or are you just blind to the fact that it was the people who came from other areas and countries that trashed Slane Town???!!’
If you’d even bothered to read StillFar’s “Madonna is not responsible for the drinking problem of the Irish” post, you’d realise that I was pointing him out to be the latter option (the “blind” option) - so, techniqually, I never called anyone “stupid and moronic”.
This really just shows the level of unfairness and bias against people here! Read my first reply in the ’Give me a reason’ topic in the ’TDR Discussion’ forum for more.
