Why cover If you already know it is gonna be crap compared to the original?

Because if everyone thinks like that no one would ever start a band. All bands like to make covers, because all musicians start playing inspired by someone and they wanna be like him or her, and to sing her or his beautiful songs, even if they can never be as good.
Just listen to Gyllene Tider’s “Vill ha ett svar” which is a cover of Tom Petty’s “I need to know” and you’ll realise that every band makes horrible covers... :D
But bands get better while they’re destroying everyone else’s songs, and sometimes they get to be quite good, and even try and do great covers of other bands... Listen to “So you want to be a rock’n’roll star” to hear a good band doing a wonderful cover.

Okay, just had a listen to them and, yes, they suck, but I think I can even explain WHY they suck... those are the most lifeless, joyless, soulless performances of those songs I’ve ever heard! They’re supposed to be FUN, aren’t they?! It’s like they’ve performed these songs six million times and can barely stand to do it one more time, but here they are, giving it another go... “Ska Vi Alska...” should be sped up to twice the speed they’re playing it at and can there be more than four people in the audience at those live shows?? Thanx! (though I don’t like the covers that much).
There’s also a cover of “Ska vi älska, så ska vi älska till BH” on the site (named as ’ska vi älska (Per Gessle))
