I remember it like it was yesterday.
I was about 13. Me, my older brother, my little sister, two of her friends (who were sisters), their brother (my friend), and another one of my friends were in the back of a truck (which belonged to the sisters’ father). We were driving to some park (they had just got a new dog) and that song came on the radio. We all started singing really loudly - except my brother. So we were all singing, and my older brother was staring at me, like he was thinking “shut the hell up!” and “what the hell are you doing?!” (but really venomisly!). I kept singing regardless... and knew he’d beat me up when I got home - for ignoring his authority.
And then we went to the park, and the girls started tearing off all my clothes - and I ended up going home in nothing but a vest and my underwear.
Ahh memories...

yeah and if i rember right per siad the look 95 was more an emi idea than theirs wasnt it :)

As if you know whether it was Ace of Base’s or Polydor’s idea, Coyboy ;-) In any case, remixes cannot be released without the consent of the artists, so Per (and Marie, for that matter) must have liked the results. I’ve never heard the remix... is it any good?
Anyway, remixes are all the rage at the moment, and their last few singles haven’t done well at all. So, just like Roxette did in ’95, Ace of Base believe a remix could provide the key to further success.
That is, of course, if they continue recording together - The group members seem to have lost interest in writing and recording as Ace of Base, and are instead pursuing other projects.
So, we’ll see what happens :-)

Ace of base offered a truly new and great Pop/dance sound here in US. I still remember watching their “Happy Nation” video... the song left me breathless. Their debut is one of the best Pop albums of the 90’s, a classic :)

yeah but have u heard the noise ace of base has been putting out lately? hallo hallo? always 21? juvenile? UGH crap the only worthwhile last song they had from dacapo was UNspeakable which would have had huge success if they group wasnt too busy trying to act like little kids :)

I really like Da Capo, but I agree that it’s very weak single-wise. It’s got lots of catchy tunes and silly lyrics, but is certainly nothing groundbreaking.
I also agree that Unspeakable is the best track - It’s a real shame that it wasn’t a single in many countries, and wasn’t promoted in those which released it. The video’s a bit weird too.
How do you mean, ’acting like kids’ ?
Anyway, Linn’s gone bonkers, Jenny’s gone religious, Jonas has become a family man and Ulf has migrated to London... I’d be very surprised if they release another album. “All That She Wants 2004” (if it’s even being released) would bring them full circle, and would (I think) signal the end of one of the biggest groups of all time.... ’Cause that’s what they were 10 years ago: Bloody huge.

Da Capo was really weak in my opinion. Hey Darling is the only outstanding song, that would have made a good single! As far as AOB’s future goes: I don’t see any, even the remixes look like a pure label-idea...

Time for the management to come clear about some roomers!
Dear everyone, time’s running and we have not been giving you any updates or feedback for some time now.
I’m sorry for this and will try to update you on some things that I have understood been up in the air for discussion some time now!
First of all, the band Ace of Base, do exist and are live and well. The band consists as always of the siblings Jenny, Jonas, Linn Berggren and Ulf Ekberg! They have not been breaking up nor have any of the members left the band for other stuff. So so when that now is said…
Jenny is currently doing charity work around Sweden, singing concerts for the church, Jonas is as always writing songs, raising his two kids and Linn is living a life outside the spotlight and enjoying that. Ulf moved from Spain to England some years ago and is now actively working in a company that are developing business strategies between entertainment and trademarks, on the side of his writing and producing.
Happy news is that Ulf will become a father in late September. So I presume that between the businesses he will become the master of diapers. = ) “congratulations to Ulf and his girlfriend Joanna”
We been discussion a new album, but we have not moved further in to recordings. There is a material written, and hopefully there will be a structure of recording soon that I could present to you. One thing that could stress these recording is that you Acers, request the band as much as possible to Universal Music in Germany!!!
And then something surprising…. Since some time there’s been some roomers about performances with Ace of Base! I can tell you that, yes infect we been talking to various promoters in Russia and the Baltic stats for some exclusive performances. Still we have not finalized any date yet so it’s still pending! If this will happened, I don’t know. I do think that this will be happening sometime in the autumn. I do hope that I could come back to you with some preliminary scheduling soon.
Until next time! All the best to everyone,
Lasse Karlsson
